There was one big run when Davis was double teamed and the other DT was completely washed out of the play. I forget who it was. It was a bad night though for Marlon T and Milton Williams, who has been the biggest disappointment so far this year.

The issue on that play was that Edwards got washed out behind that block.  You want Davis to get double teamed, which you would expect to free up a teammate.  Didn't happen in this case.

I'm coming down to Philly for the MNF game against Washington.

I need a jersey, and I've long wanted a Dawkins jersey. On the Eagles store right now, they have a decent deal where it's like $90 with a discount applied. Problem is, they nail me on shipping and duties, plus the conversion, which puts the total cost of it all at around $250 CAD.

For those that have been, are there Dawkins jerseys in the Eagles pro shop? Or, anywhere else in the city (driving down early Sunday morning so will have time to look around) that I could find one?

Not sure your thoughts on this, but might be an option.

Once again Josh Gordon was released by the Titans.

Wonder where he will end up next and the fan base will get all super excited about it.  I'm sure it'll make espn front page headlines as well.

Also, the Titans are having a new domed stadium built.  This is the future of football.  Every stadium will be domed or some kind of retractable roof.  No more wind, rain or snow games.

No. We need him.

Man, the NFC stinks.

Meh.  The NFC has 6 teams at 3-3.  That's 10 of the 16 teams.    Not much different from the AFC.   NFC is more top heavy with 3 teams with 5 wins or more (hard to believe the Giants are one of them).  AFC only has 1.

This is what the NFL wanted... parity.

Davis did his job all night. I expect to see his snap count go up the rest of the season with their upcoming schedule. Some heavy run based teams coming up in PIT, HOU, IND, TEN, CHI.

I agree on Gordon. Yes, he was amazing...9 years ago, and had a decent year for the Pats in 2018.

Would be crazy to say this just a mere 2 months ago. But I would take Hurts over Prescott for the next 5 years, especially for this Eagles team. That guy is Tony Romo all over again. Doesn't win any big games, but puts up some nice stats. And gets hurt a bunch. Nothing like an overhyped Cowboy! 🤣

I think the problem with Hurts for some people are expectations, if you want him to be Mahomes or Allen, tough luck.

A better way to see him is Brady in his first three years as a NE starter, Belichick ran a conservative, ball control offense where Brady was a game manager, handing the ball off and making quick throws to undersized smurfs who got open quickly. Then in 2004, Belichick opened up the offense as a great defense became merely "good," and the rest is history.

Hurts is a game manager, but he's a great game manager, you want to know what Minshew would look like as a starter - look at Dallas last night. Rush is a smart but limited QB who will have a ten year career as a top backup and retire with $30M in the bank. But he'll never hold a starting job for long b/c of his limitations, the same for Minshew.

You can win a SB with the current version of Hurts, your odds go up if he continues to improve. But he's going to win with leadership (unflappable under pressure), the ability to make most of the plays that matter (how often do top QBs throw deep outs across their body?) and good decison making, and his legs when needed.

But here's the magic question, of all the QBs drafted in the first round the last three years, who would you take over Hurts? Being consistently good >> long odds that a loser suddenly lives up to his physical potential. Lawrence is a good example, second season in Jax, still erratic, cooled off after a hot start.

Hurts is 4th in net yards per attempt, and that includes Tua and Jones, both who are injured and missed some games, Allen is 2nd, Herbert 6th, Mahomes 7th.

Nope.  I don't deny Minshew's limitations, but that's not who he is.  Minshew is a much better backup QB than Rush.

Probably one of the sneaks.  Only play where he blocks head first.

I'm not saying that that many QB sneaks is a bad thing, but...

Right, Davis took on the double team and the other DT was pushed out of the play, leaving a massive hole for the RB to sprint through full speed.

Perfect time to lock up a player or two with the bye week ahead.

I predicted an early season Epps extension. I’m a little surprised it hasn’t happened yet.

I'd put a line in the water for White, Bradberry and Epps.

Gardner as well. Did any one notice the difference between Wallace & Gardner? Defense suffered in that absence, just like with the Lane Johnson injury on offense. Pretty astonishing. Gonna have to pay for a young safety in free agency any way you look at it. Mind as well try to lock him up before the bidding begins.

Another option could be....when (and if) Lane is ready to retire (I have a feeling he has several good years left) ....we could start Dillard at LT and slide Mailata over to RT (A more natural position for a man of his stature)  ...pretty sure he wouldn't skip a beat.

And Dillard is beyond solid at LT.  + we would keep the 1st round pick that it would take to get a tackle.

I like that idea a lot but we still have no idea if Dillard is beyond solid.  I couldn't tell you how good or bad he is.  The only thing we know is he can't play RT.

That would be an ideal situation however.  The problem is, I don't see Lane retiring after this year and you'd have to give Dillard a backup LT contract whereas I'm guessing some team out there would give him starting LT money.  How can they bring him back to make that scenario work?

This game reminded me of that NFCCG against the Rams. You know, the one where the Rams handed the ball to Marshall Faulk like 7 straight times to start the 2nd half and it buried us.

Thats what we should do. But every game. From the opening kickoff. That’s how much better our run game is than the rest of the NFL is at defending the run.

The biggest problem with consistently following that approach is that the other team knows what is coming.  There is no surprise advantage.  So mixing in some passes, especially with receivers the quality of Brown, Smith and Goedert.  Then when the opposing D has to take resources out of the box in pass protection, the O-line has an even greater advantage.  Further, there are opportunities like the Eagles' second completion last night (in the first TD drive) to complete passes to receivers like Jack Stoll.

He doesn't hate Philadelphia.  He is cultivating a story line to maximize the interest (hate signifies interest just as much as love does) of the audience so that they stay glued to their sets.

This really puts things in perspective lol.

Gotta give the HC and OC a lot of credit for the scheme they put together going into the game. Things changed a bit when Lane went out but up until that point we moved more or less at will.

The best thing for this offense would be to find a Shawn Andrews 2.0 in the first round next year.  Maybe not that same unique level of talent, but subtract the unfortunate mental problems and it's a similar ask.  They need a bullying collegiate OT to come in and play RG from day 1 and eventually move out to RT to replacing an aging franchise icon.  Of course, that didn't happen with Andrews, but that was his exact plan when drafted.

I know I sound like a broken record, but this OL is going to be the death of them this year.  They need to protect themselves against these inevitable, relentless second half musical chairs.

We have only one first rounder on our OL. Two, if you count Dillard.

The Eagles hardly have smurfs at WR though.  We have a Heisman Trophy winner who can dominate.  We have baby TO but can dominate.  And they have Quez, who can run by anyone.  These are not smurfs who can only get open by running a screen or 5 yard out/button hook.  These are elite WR who can excel downfield.  They've been severely limited the last few weeks.

What has Hurts done over the last 3 games that Minshew can't?  Again, not saying I want Minshew in the game instead of Hurts.  Minshew can't touch what Hurts did weeks 2-3.  He can however manage a game, hand the ball off and get the ball out quick.  If all you want Hurts to do is be a game manager then you might as well do the revolving door QB idea that one of the posters on here suggested.  Bring in a game manager every 4 years and never pay a QB top dollar.
