Who says they don’t wanna win more?  That’s even dumber.  "Gambling with money that you have won”.  Yeah, we know genius.  Like "nothing to lose”.

playing with house money doesn’t mean you don’t want to win more.

Funny moment:

Kelce: Flag??

Ref in the background: Offsides, defense…

Kelce: Oh, good call.

Option for the Eagles.  Not exactly priority #1 but we could use a boost at TE2 and I imagine he'd be cheap. The Broncos don't really use him.

I saw Solak mention him. He’s a nice backup pass-catching TE, but he doesn’t block at all. That leaves Stoll as a key backup. Is Albert O enough of an upgrade over Calcaterra at this point to give up a late-round pick for him?

Think this through.  Stohl is doing exactly what we need.  He is a solid blocker and catches what few passes are thrown to him.  Calcaterra was just drafted and has some upside as a real receiving option.  Where would another TE, at the expense of a draft pick, fit in?

Is he talking to Hurts when he's screaming "Go"? Just noticed it's on some run plays

I don't think so.  The "Go Go Go" appears to be when they are dealing with a stunt by the DL.

Feisty shots being given out today.

I don't consider TE to be a position of any kind of need for the Eagles. Hell, I think they have five guys under control at the moment (three on the active roster, one on the practice squad, and one on injured reserve) who can play. I don't think it makes sense to give up any kind of draft capital to address a position that is hardly an issue.

Serious question, why would you bring in another TE, whos been in the dog house for lack of blocking skills on a team who already has more then enough pass catchers/play makers.

He's bigger and faster than Calcanterra and would be a much better option to be the primary pass catching TE if Goedert were to have to miss any snaps.  Yes Stoll would still be the primary blocker still.

TE and S are 2 areas that worry me with a complete lack of functional depth.  CJGJ or Goedert have to miss any time and the entire game-plan changes.

Again it's far from priority #1 at the trade deadline but a cheap investment at TE2 and S3 makes sense to me.

Our TEs are good.

Tyree Jackson and Togiai aren't even on the roster right now.

We have functional depth that's not even on the team.

I think we need a better TE. Depth is important and I don't really see being able to run remotely the same offense if Calcanterra, Togiai, or Stoll are forced to start for any reason.

Disagree.  Goedert is good.  Stoll is a a good role player.  Calcanterra is long term promise but has a ways to go.  Togiai is nothing special. Jackson is still injured.

Lot of people don’t realize he’s only a couple months older than Davante Adams. Seems like he should be Jason Kelce age but he just turned 30. Dude is going to become the destroyer of worlds once again. So glad we played them when we did

We don't need another TE

Interesting (at least to me) DL notes: on several plays against Dallas, Davis played first and second down at NT and Graham played NT on third down. Graham lined up over the center both in a three-point stance and standing up.

Davis played a few snaps in a standard DT alignment in a 4-man front, not just as a NT.

Reddick lined up on both ends and as a SAM.

Gannon is working on things.

Nope. Happy with Stoll and Calcaterra. Stoll is a much better blocker, a decent receiver, and Calcaterra is aa much better receiver than Albert O.

The genesis of this recent hurts discussion came from a few posters wondering why we haven’t called and/or taken more deep shots.

I postulated that Hurts seems overly risk averse, and while that can be good (his turnover numbers are fantastic), like all things it’s best to avoid extremes. And my opinion is that Hurts himself isn’t comfortable with deep throws because they offer a much higher chance of a turnover. His deep throwing is certainly one of his weaker areas, which plays into his reluctance to make said throws, but people don’t want to have a discussion, they jump down your throat offering that he has no weaknesses and we’re just haters. It’s maddening how quickly it devolves in here.

They didn’t take deep shots against the Cards, who blitz more than any team in the league with the starting left side of the OL missing most of the game.  They didn’t take deep shots against the cowpads, whose pass rush is leading the league and with Lane out half the game. Pretty smart game calling by Shane.

Hurts doesn’t call the plays.  Heck, most of the audibles aren’t completely on the QB.  Face it, the majority of the pass plays in the NFL are short passes followed by intermediate passes.  The coaches design the read progressions.  I suspect, based on his slower read/release, that the design has factored that into the play design.  Working well in the first half. But the adjustments at halftime do need to improve.

Calcaterra has 1 reception this year.  Stoll has 2.

I get the blocking comments on Stoll but why are you guys trying to pump these guys up like they've shown anything as a receiver yet?

I postulated that it's Sirianni's obsession with turnovers that has made it less likely to throw the ball downfield in riskier situations.  Why bother when we can throw the ball to Brown or Goedert within five yards of the LOS and still get 10+ yards.

It’s not that Calcaterra is anything special, it’s more that Albert O isn’t either. The Broncos soured on him so much that they drafted his replacement in round 3 and gave snaps to other scrubby TEs over him while Dulcich was on IR.

He’s probably not any good.
