Option for the Eagles.  Not exactly priority #1 but we could use a boost at TE2 and I imagine he'd be cheap. The Broncos don't really use him.

What was it about the completion to Stoll on Sunday that you didn't like?

I don't consider TE to be a position of any kind of need for the Eagles. Hell, I think they have five guys under control at the moment (three on the active roster, one on the practice squad, and one on injured reserve) who can play. I don't think it makes sense to give up any kind of draft capital to address a position that is hardly an issue.

Jaeden Graham?  Seems like a JAG to me.  Suspect you were referring to Tyree Jackson, who’s on PUP.  Still a project.  Togiai is kind of a JAG.  The question is would Albert O give them Goedert insurance or are Stoll and Calcaterra good enough.  Haven’t yet seen enough of Calcaterra to opine.  Seems to run routes well and a better blocker than I expected on the few plays he has been in.

That's all he does is name call, take personal shots and bring up old things in the past like a bitter lover.

I've found a number of his posts thoughtful and insightful  The name calling slides off me like water on the back of a duck.

Besides the fact that it was only his second catch of the year?

How does a guy with superior skillset lose his starting job at bama?

He's 5th in passer rating. Who is 1st now?

Also mentioning the cold take of saying that what happened to him at age 20 somehow defines him at 24.

I'll take Josh Allen at Wyoming for 500, Bob!

People like to use blanket statements like 'looks lost against the blitz' but forget the 2nd part that is implied.

Hurts looks lost against the blitz AND EVERY NFL DC HE FACED IS TOO STUPID TO BLITZ ON EVERY PLAY SINCE ITS EASY WIN BUTTON!!!

The reason they don't do that is because he does not look lost against the blitz. Like every QB in NFL history if he gets instant pressure in his face he is much less effective. If the blitz gets picked up or he rolls out then he kills you. Its almost like every defense tries to get pressure on every QB for some reason. Tom Brady (again he is an example, not a comparison) is the greatest American professional sports player and even he is much less effective with direct pressure (See Eli's 2 SB wins, see Brandon Graham)

Its strange that some people think the player they don't like has some obvious and easily exploitable flaw but the other teams always take pity on them.  They would all rather be sporting and nice instead of trying to win. What color is the sky in that alternate universe?

You can only catch balls that are thrown your way ... just ask Watkins.

Opposing defensive coordinators when we are not throwing the ball to Brown, Smith, or Goedert.

On another note, when is our first loss? Tough to see one for a while. Maybe the Giants?

If that is the way you feel, put him back on Ignore.  Or are you a masochist?

I postulated that it's Sirianni's obsession with turnovers that has made it less likely to throw the ball downfield in riskier situations.  Why bother when we can throw the ball to Brown or Goedert within five yards of the LOS and still get 10+ yards.

I would love to see them come out in the third with a deep shot. But not with Driscoll as one of the OTs. That might put the D a little deeper. But I would want that against a standard rush.

3 minutes ago, Bacarty2 said:

So you think he's handled the blitz very well? perfectly? What grade would you give him in him reading a blitz defense and how he handled the play after the snap during the blitz?

Explain why he is not blitzed 40 times a game or move on. This is an extreme cold take where you know more than NFL DCs.

You know that calling a blitz means rushing 5 or 6 or 7, not always getting through immediately.

When a blitz is picked up your D usually gets killed. The Bucs last play of the 2021 playoffs was a blitz. Stafford may have looked bad on the blitzes that worked earlier in the game.

Are you now claiming that the Eagles O-line is so bad that they never stop a blitz?

Are you claiming that Hurts is bad when he gets sacked in 1.5 seconds but other QBs are great in the same circumstances?

What I'm telling you is that you are taking an extremely simple approach to a complicated matter and you are not convincing anyone. Its not me you need to convince. Its the reality of what happened on the field 6 times and how all NFL DCs play the Eagles offense. If they start blitzing Hurts with 6 and 7 on every play and he starts getting 40 QB ratings and leading the team to 3 or 7 points then come back and tell us how brilliant you are.

It’s not that Calcaterra is anything special, it’s more that Albert O isn’t either. The Broncos soured on him so much that they drafted his replacement in round 3 and gave snaps to other scrubby TEs over him while Dulcich was in IR.

He’s probably not any good.

Fully agree that he hasn't shown much, but he has absolutely shown more than Calcaterra right now. Plus I'm not exactly going to value Hackett's personnel and play calling decisions.

I'm happy to let Calcaterra develop but that doesn't really help you much when you're in a position to make a deep playoff push.  I'm very happy we've started going heavily towards 11 personnel but 12 is still going to make up about 20-25% of our offensive play-calls.  Give me the 6'5" 260 lb guy who ran a 4.49 40, had good college production against elite competition, and has 50 total NFL receptions playing in one of the league's most dysfunctional offenses over the guy with 1 total NFL reception who already almost retired due to head injuries.

That's worth a 7th rounder to me.

16 minutes ago, Bacarty2 said:

I understand all that but why. We dont throw to TE2. This offense isnt a TE2 pass catching deal. We have a "ok" TE2.

So to use resources, even a late round pick for someone to block a lot seems not worth it.

Now you mention his name when we had Doug and that terrible 12 personnel experiment I'd be more open to the idea

See above.  Even with the heavy 11 personnel use we're still going to use 12 about 20-25% of the time.  That's not insignificant.

Nothing.  2 out of 3 of Calcaterra's and Stoll's combined total receptions have looked very nice.

Wasn't looking to brag.  When the quantity of posts goes up, as it has over the past four weeks, coupled with the Ignore feature filtering out the drek, the Blog is a very interesting place to be.  I listen and learn.

GB maybe, but they're not looking to sharp right now.

For some reason, the Houston game stands out as a possible letdown.

I am waiting for the annual "i can't believe we lost that game" game, and i was sure it was going to be the cardinals. But maybe the Titans?

For some reason i don't see GB as a threat. That team seems ready for the offseason.

But he's been in the dog house for bad blocking skills and doesnt seem to do a good job at it in general.

Calcaterra isn't a good blocker either. At least not yet. It was a big part of his scouting report.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer George Kittle too.  But I'm looking realistically at guys we could get for a late round pick that can upgrade a shallow position's depth.

FWIW I think we should do the same at Safety and OG as well.

Him missing the preseason was pretty big. I have a feeling he would be getting more looks if he had been healthy.

No, you're the pedophile who brings up a 7 year old, often, and randomly. Fing creepy pedophile.

What does being a pedophile have to do with it.  You are the one who said you were bringing him to a fight in a parking lot before a preseason game.  We are just providing the context of who you are when you run your mouth about others.
