The Panthers get the 49ers 2nd, 3rd, and 4th next year and their 5th in 2024.

CMC traded for all that draft capital and he has a $20M cap hit the next two years. That's a big no for me.

This is definitely an overpay but CMC is like family there.

He's known Kyle Shanahan since he was a kid and his father played for the 49ers. (only 1 year but it was a SB year even though he was just WR4)

The Shanahan relationship is strong from Denver where Ed played for most of his career.

He's also a Stanford guy.

Its not just selling out for the 3rd seed. They want him there long term IMO.

The cap hit is not 20 for the 49ers. The bonus stays in Carolina so its more like 12 each the following 2 years.

It's probably the best fit possible being with Shanahan.  Wouldn't surprise me if they use him more as a receiver with some runs sprinkled in.

I fully expect him to get injured eventually but if by chance he does stay healthy thats as good a skill group as there is with Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle and now CMC.

It’s the most injury riddled player going to the most injury riddled team. Unless the double negatives cancel out, I’m not sure he lasts a game.

Health being the major question here. It’s pretty crazy that 49ers have 4 guys who are top 5 of their position across the league.
