Meh... the copious amount is because of the bad moves.  I've got no issue with dead cap space, in principle.  But, imo, it compounded upon itself and ended up costing more than it would have if they had swallowed the pill sooner.   Different philosophy of 'fixing' it.

Nope. Even if they were good moves (by result),  the money would be the same.

The decision to bring them back was bad.  The logic with the money was/is sound.

I'm also fascinated to see what becomes of Greg Ward.  I wish him nothing but the best, but I always maintained that he never belonged on an NFL roster, even as depth.  We are about to find out.

I think he proved that he at least belonged. He made plays when he had to

Not always. You are a bit more of a purist than I. I would add that you can have exponential decay, just as you can have an exponential growth rate.

exponential

 adjective

Definition of exponential

1: of or relating to an exponent
2: involving a variable in an exponent10x is an exponential expression
3: expressible or approximately expressible by an exponential functionespecially : characterized by or being an extremely rapid increase (as in size or extent)an exponential growth rate

You are correct.  It is about the variable being in the exponent that makes an exponential function.  I was incorrect in my assertion about 'e', though it is very common.  But, my point really was that the mere presence of an exponent does not make a function exponential.

Howie Roseman is a fascinating GM.  He was (justifiably) the hero of the 2017 roster; he built that.

His opportunistic trades are fantastic.  His cap management is fantastic.  For a 2-3 year run, every move he made was a disaster, including cap and trades.  And then he did a great job initiating the rebuild.

Many GMs would not have survived that dry spell, even with that SB nearby in the rearview mirror.  But he did...and not many people are regretting it right now.

BUT...when evaluating Howie Roseman...no one says "now there's a guy that drafts well."  Even his 2017 SB team was an anomaly in how heavily the nucleus and the "take it over the top" players were creatively acquired instead of a backbone of solid drafts.

They will.  Just give him another year or 2 if his own drafts.

OK - I am going to have put my foot down about this math talk.

I think they were both unimpressed and (for reasons not disclosed to us) pissed off at him.

If they didn't like his attitude, but thought he could be great, they'd keep him on the roster and would punish him into the ground.  If they thought he sucked but thought he was a decent guy, he would have played half the preseason and got cut.  To never sniff time at all means they thought he sucked and needed to be turned into an example.

I can't ever recall a QB in pre season with such a big signing bonus and considerable fan fare to just not get a sniff of playing time.

If they thought he sucked why didn't they just cut him earlier, why send him out there in garbage time to make a few handoffs or kneel downs.

The explanation that they wanted to get minshew and sinnett their reps makes zero logical sense???

From reports he sounds like a decent enough dude, sounded like a hard worker said he trusted the coaches blah blah blah.

Maybe early on he did something attitude wise that soured the coaches on him and if that's the case he could just be doing damage control to market himself to future teams.

Still wouldn't account for why the heck they wouldnt just cut him

If he has a bad attitude not ever giving him any reps isn't going to help, if they think he sucks he's not going to get better not getting any reps so why hold on to him that long, seems like a D moves by the eagles if they held onto him out of spite.

We'll probably never know the full extent of what went on, either way sure was/is bizarre situation.

If they were good moves, they wouldn't stick in my craw.  And I think digging out of the bad moves costs more because you have to do other things to field a competitive team when you screw up.

Was Sinnett signed to the practice squad or Book?   Seeing Tweets for both.

If they claimed Strong and Dak went down, and Strong beat Hurts on SNF at home, this board may collapse.

Just one massive @HazletonEagle told you so thread and 100,000 posts about cutting Hurts.

The reports were that he sucked in practice and didn't seem to pick up the offense.  I doubt there's any more to it.  They just didn't think he was good.

So why not cut him earlier?. If he sucks he's not going to get better not taking any reps?

Why even bother trotting him out there to kneel down, just cut bait and move on.

If that's the case it's a waste if his time the eagles and everyone's time to keep him in the roster any longer than when they decided he wasn't going to get any snaps

I think there's more behind the story but we'll see or we won't I guess

Book was claimed, he's on the 53. Sinnett is on the PS.

Um, he’s on season ending injured reserve with the Eagles. Only way you find out is if the Eagles release him when he is healed.

Brown banana peels indicate the homeowner is negligent.

An exponential function is when the variable is in the exponent, like the top example.  The bottom example is a quadratic or square function, not an exponential function.

Book is going on the 53.  What I understand is that we can't use IR moves to offset.  So someone needs to go today.

My guess is it will be a vet, who is not subject to waivers.  They'll pay for a hotel room, some dinner, maybe some company tonight and let him return when they put Jobe/Scott on IR.

Book was claimed on waivers and is on the active 53-man roster. We still don't know the accompanying move. Rumor has it that Sinnett was signed to the PS, but I'm wondering if that report was based on speculation prior to the Eagles getting Book.

Book was a waiver claim and is on the 53 man roster, they have not announced who is being released yet.

Maybe claiming Book was one of the parameters of getting CGJ for cheap.

You think throwing a fresh banana peel on the floor is more responsible?
