The one thing I worry about is if it would create friction in the locker room with Sanders also in a contract year if the Eagles brought in Hunt to split carries with him and also pretty much compete with him for a new deal from the Eagles since Hunt is in a contract year too.  But if Sanders can refrain from taking it personal then that would be a huge boost.

I am not sure Howie cares about it.

So we are rooting for the Bears tonight to beat the Patriots

Then on Thursday the Ravens to beat the Bucs

I'm not so sure about that. As I mentioned yesterday, I'm starting to get a little uncomfortable about the NFC South. We already know that SOMEONE has to win the division, so why should we care who does, as long as it's not the Saints? I'd kinda breathe a little easier seeing the Saints fall a couple games behind the division leader. As it stands now, they're only one game out.

The Bucs already have four losses. Is a fifth loss going to be particularly helpful to us? Only if we fall apart, I guess. But it's hard to see us falling apart and then also winning the division too, which is what would be needed for us to even care about the Bucs record. What I mean is, if we go 12-5, it's quite possible we'd be a wild card and not the division winner, so we'd be the fifth seed regardless.

Man, the last thing we'd need is for the Saints to finish 7-10 and somehow win the damn division, host and win a playoff game, and then have them give us the 23rd pick in the draft rather than one in the top ten.

I hate the Ravens too, so there's always that. And I'm still ticked off at them for playing like utter garbage last year against the Dolphins when it looked like the Dolphins were gonna go 1-16. Instead they kick-started the Miami resurgence.

Thinking more about the trade deadline and looking at it from different perspectives.

A. Trade mid-round picks for aging talent.  (Robert Quinn)

B. Trade mid-round picks for disgruntled players/diminishing role players.(Kareem Hunt)

C. Trade premium picks for young talent on expiring contracts. (Brian Burns)

D. Trade one of their own. (Dillard)

E. Stay put considering how weak the NFC is this year.

The only position I see the Eagles 100% needing to make an upgrade would be at returner.  I also don't see them finding one via trade.  Greg Ward back on the PS tells me that it's only a matter of time before he's active and Covey is gone.  That's a horizontal move strictly for more ball security.  I saw someone mention plucking Andy Isabella off the Ravens PS.  I'd be interested in that.  He has blazing speed but was way over drafted with too big of expectations.  At the very least, he's got about 25 pounds on Covey with better speed.

I posted last week about the Eagles and their draft picks.  I'd hate to see Howie get rid of his 4th/5th for a 1-year rental when that pick could be used on a guy who could be here for 4 years.  I don't see Robert Quinn putting this team over the top.  I also don't see them going for a RB.  They seem to really like what Scott/Gainwell give them.  I've seen enough Boston Scott.

Maybe there's an under the radar contract expiring young guy that Howie will pull out of his hat and surprise us with but the Eagles 2 1st round picks could be used much better during the draft.  Hopefully the Saints pick is top-5 and they can get a premier player and Howie can work a trade down with their own 1st and keep stocking up on high picks down the road.

I think with the state of the NFL, especially as weak as the NFC is, the Eagles need to stand pat.  Their roster is pretty even across the board.  The best thing the Eagles could do is to focus on wrapping up and tackling better.  Their pass rush could use a boost but I think that can be done in house with better game planning can play calling from Gannon.  I'd love to see Reddick and Patrick Johnson on the field at the same time.  Johnson has flashed every time he's been on the field.  It seems Gannon has pulled back on blitzing White and Edwards as well...there was a 2 week period where it seemed like both of them were being sent and wreaking havoc.  What gives?

Looking at the landscape in the nfl right now, it is going to be really interesting to see what teams fire their coach after the season.

Hackett, Staley, Rivera, Reich, Smith, McCarthy, Kingsbury would be my guesses.  Feels like a lot though.

I gotta say it. I don't think Toth is any good. I'm not talking about the fact that he's been cut twice already in his career. I'm saying that after watching him play in real games for the Eagles, he just doesn't look like anything other than a deep scrub. I would be terrified if he were on the field at a meaningful time in a meaningful game.

Me too. Toth is the guy Stout couldn't coach up. Limited player.

Stuck with him for now but not a keeper, just a necessary piece. O Line depth only.

Boom, career years all around

And if they choose to sign with another team in the offseason the Eagles more than likely get compensation in the 2024 Draft.

How did adding Jay Ajaiyi to the four existing RBs work out?

Nice edit.  Next time you can quote or tag me if you want to talk ish.  It’s not confusing, it’s just dumb.  The confusing smiley is the best option we have for dumb posts.  You should know that by now, since I’ve explained it to you already.

I’ve got you almost figured out.

You don't know the difference between humor and talking ish.

Parachuting in here but pretty clear that the Matt Ryan benching is the final straw for Reich’s time in Indy (short of a miraculous run by Ehlinger to end the season).

Really screwed up because he can clearly put together a good NFL offense but used up all of his built in equity with the Wentz move. And they never got him a truly dependable QB after Luck. Now he has almost no chance to save his job.

I feel like mccarthy is gonna stay only cause the division is ridiculous this year and Dak got hurt so they’ll keep him. The rest i can totally see getting fired. I think smith stays as atlanta for most of their games have been in it. Problem is if I’m atlanta I’m tired of running an offense that doesn’t utilize my top 10 picks of pitts and London

Damn i would’ve loved robinson for that price. That’s good value even if robinson is a RFA at year’s end.

I think it depends on Payton. If he wants to come back Jerry will do what he has to.

A game in which Justin Tucker missed a FG and Greg Roman took 3 1/2 quarters to figure out how to beat the Dolphins blitz. A Ravens W would have helped both our Miami AND Colts pick. We would have been picking 12th and 14th instead of 15 and 16. Alas.

I feel like that’s a toxic environment where Jerry can’t control Payton and Payton might kill Skeltor

Yup i would have done that deal

Put Zappe in.

The Patriots running it on 3rd & 10. 🤮 Joe Judge has made his impact on that offense.

Not sure Quinn is a likely trade candidate for the Eagles unless he’s super cheap. Howie doesn’t like to invest draft capital in aging guys. Especially lately, he’s made a concerted effort to find young guys. AJ Brown, CJGJ, Reddick, etc. I think if he targets an edge rusher, it’ll be someone he thinks has staying power for the future like Burns or Chubb. Again, unless a trade for an older guy is so cheap it’s not of any issue.

Already hearing the 'Zappe' chants in the crowd 🤣
