I am saying that Howie is going all in, thinking he has a Super Bowl team, regardless of my opinion, with the NFC being down, anything less would be a failure.

I do not think Hurts is ready to win a playoff shoot out, would love to be proven wrong.

That's not how this works.

"Howie is going all in" is an opinion.

"anything less would be a failure" is an opinion.

I don’t see why you don’t play Quinn. Let him play 6-8 snaps and get his feet wet.

It’s kind of hard to justify that when you are doing inactives and need guys for ST’s. Might as well just give him off and let him learn the playbook/calls. He’s a 32 year old vet, I don’t think 6-8 snaps will do anything for him.

If he is not going all in, why would he trade for a 32 year old pass rusher ??

Now that BG has a hamstring injury are we still complaining about a Pseudo 5th round pick being traded? Incredible how peeps react to a trading a pick that would probably be a special teamer for years, for a 18.5 sack guy from last year. Howie is foreshadowing what he's doing with that Saints pick, as he will restock with that pick. Gotta go for it THIS YEAR. Great deal! And the Bears pay most of the salary. Again. A no brainer!!

I don't think the plan is to restock with the Saints pick. I think the plan will be to use it if it’s a very high pick. If they’re going to restock, it will be with our own pick.

And look what we have here the front office is focusing on edge rushers and rumored to be interested in a running back. I seem to remember the pillars and some other geniuses arguing that our defensive line is deep enough we didn’t need to add any edge rushers. They would say we wanted to focus on the second string TE and punt returner but we didn’t need d lineman or running backs. Shocker the pillars were wrong again. I wonder if Quinn will be part of a solid rotation in place of Tarron Jackson who has barely gotten on the field.?

Stuff it.  The discussion you reference was when the team was at (or close to) a 0-0 record ... as was every other team in the NFC.  Now they are 6-0 with the minimum of a game lead on all the other teams.  The depth needed for an all out SB push is different than the =depth needed in week one of a "make the Playoffs" year with hopes of winning a round or two in those Playoffs.

You really love to pick those nits.

Who else was advocating for a better backup TE other than me?  I thought I was on an island on that one.

We are getting backup TE depth ... coming off the PUP.

To improve the team and offset the impact to Barnett's injury.

What does "all in" really mean?  He's not throwing away first rounders for HOFers like the Rams.  That looks like all in.

A late fourth round pick that you are probably already planning to recoup on draft day isn't pushing many chips into the table.

Didn’t realise Graham was injured.

With that considered it makes a lot more sense, but not sure if he’ll see the field this Sunday

The Eagles only have 6 picks in 2023. While there’s still compensatory picks and they could maneuver to add more, I can’t see Howie comfortable ending the season with 5 or fewer picks. Wonder if he’s pushing for 2024 picks in deals.

So then what are they going to do about ST in the weeks after? What does he really have to learn? When he’s in, go get the QB. You didn’t trade for a top-tier pass rusher to let him sit.

Deals for who?

Maybe swapping 4for4 for Utebird on your ignore list would help with your blood pressure.

Eagles 31

Steelers 6

Bonus: Davis with a sack

Whoaaaah  You stole my prediction!  I'll have to go with:

Eagles 31

Steelers 3

Bonus: Eagles Defense outscores the Steelers Offense.

@LeanMeanGM

To be seen what Quinn brings to the table.  Howie has some work to do to get some mid-round picks though.  This was my gripe I was making last week if the Eagles were to trade their 4th.  They are creating a pattern over the last few drafts in going long periods of watching guys go off the board.

Eagles' own pick
From Saints
Eagles' own pick
Eagles' own pick
Eagles' own pick
From Vikings

Also, I know people think the Eagles need a "power back” but if they’re going to give up draft capital for a RB, it’s going to be someone they’re going to use more than sparingly. Unless it’s some conditional 7th nothing trade. Given that, I’d bet any RB the Eagles trade for has experience as a pass catcher, because they’d be taking snaps away from Gainwell and Scott, both who they use out of the backfield. They’re going to want someone who can step right in that role, but also be a better player on the ground. It’s why Hunt makes sense, he’s a good receiver.

Considering it’s a late 4 and the Bears are paying most of Quinn’s salary, it’s a great move that allows the Eagles to pay a relatively small price for high return.

I don’t think it even counts as all-in because his contract next year is palatable if he plays well this year.

We won't be getting any comp picks.

Also, my guess is that Howie is already planning to move our first round pick during the draft for more picks.  Teams like to move back up into the first to get that fifth-year option.

Trade that Saints 1st rounder. Drop down in the first a few spots and pick up a few mid rd picks.  Boom. Done..

Solid move, havent felt this confident in our defense in a long time

I’m referring to him playing Monday (24th) and then hypothetically this Sunday (30th) and then Thursday (3).

Just checked. He's had 36 & 32 snaps in last 2 weeks. I'd ease him into the rotation at 25 snaps for next 2 games. Should be fine.

Too many years of cringing and watching "Dline pressure offsets weak secondary." Not. Now, "shutdown secondary allows Dline to feast" is fun, fun, fun
