I think Hurts and McNabb comparisons are terrible.

Hurts has been embraced by this city. McNabb was at war with us from draft day on.

Hurts is a grinder and a specimen. McNabb grew fat rings around his midsection every year like a tree.

McNabb was a #1 overall pick type prospect who went #2 overall. Hurts went in the middle of round 2.

McNabb was psychologically damaged by a TV pundit and stopped running. There is literally no comparison to this in NFL history.

Hurts is the leader type and best friends with the stud WR.  McNabb was a goofball type who went to war with his stud WR.

McNabb had holes in his game and he never tried to fix them. Hurts had holes in his game and he went to the QB guru.

McNabb was one of the least clutch athletes in Philly history. I don't even want people saying his name near our QBs in case it rubs off.

What an awful analysis.

Did McNabb bang your wife?

Careful. Criticizing him around here is considered evil

At this point, by far, the most important and perilous decision for Howie is what to do with Sanders, Epps, CGJ, Bradberry, White, Cox, Hargrave, Edwards.

Even if Howie could jump through hoops and keep all of them, he almost certainly shouldn't.

There are so many different directions and rationales to take here.  All of these players are having "up" years and probably should not be counted on to sustain the current level of play for the length of whatever contract they receive.  Let's not make the mistake we made extending everyone from the 2017 team.

Bradberry is the most important and hardest player to replace on this list, but he's also one of the oldest and may be the most expensive.

You’re basing this solely on the draft booing? That was ignorant fans booing not drafting Ricky Williams; it had nothing to do with Mcnabb.

Between 2000-2006ish Mcnabb was a superhero to Philadelphia. Mcnabb wasn’t "at war with us,” especially early in his career. that’s ridiculous.

I actually buy that Mcnabb always resented the fan base ever since draft day.  It was absolutely classless that fans boo'd when he was drafted, even if they were boo'ing the process and not the pick.  But Mcnabb never got over it.  He also got boo'd on the field during his struggles in 2003.  Then there was the Jeff Garcia playoff run, which featured some awkwardness with Mcnabb, his family, and the city/media.  That was a rough ride from the beginning.

He's been beat bad in every game this year and had a slew of penalties.  Aside from wanting to see Jalen Hurts continue his improvement and consistency, seeing Mailata take his game to the next level was something I wanted to see this year.  He's still a good LT but he's disappointed a good bit this year.

yep, he struggles alot this year, may be something to think about in the draft?

You have to wonder...maybe the whole Dillard at LT, Mailata at RT idea isn't so bad.  Not that I want Lane Johnson gone any time soon.

I think.

Still lots of season to go but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Alex Highsmith is good and give Mailata some issues. Mailata is not a perfect LT like Trent Williams and will give up some pressure. The good more than outweighs any bad.

He also could continue to improve. 25 years old.

His current contract is very nice value, although it's not "best LT in the league at under-market" value.

From a talent perspective. Lane should be LT while Mailata should be RT. But I understand not wanting to switch Lane considering he’s playing like possibly the best RT ever.

- Did Quez Watkins play the quietest 37 snaps ever yesterday?

- Still a toss up between Edwards and White...who do you prioritize in bringing back?  Is there a scenario where both walk and we see Nakobe Dean and Davion Taylor next year?

- I'm a vocal don't extend Hargrave guy but he had one of his best games as an Eagle yesterday.  Easily his best since his first 5 weeks last year.

- I know Stoll is known for his blocking but is he the odd man out when Tyree Jackson is ready?  First play of the game after a bye week...Calcaterra was the target?

- Please, no more WR screens to Smith.  It just doesn't work.  Get that man downfield and let him work!  If you want to run a WR screen, flank Gainwell out and use him.

- Having Maddox back makes a big difference.  He's great in his role.

- CGJ and Epps have to come back.  You need to let them grow as a tandem for the next 4-5 years.

- Hurts only had 2 rushes and on every TD pass to Brown he barely moved in the pocket.  Great to see from a play calling standpoint as well as Hurts trusting the pocket.

- Covey still offers nothing.  He's even worse on KR.

- Game 1 of Robert Quinn, 20 snaps and pretty quiet.  Not down on him at all.  However, the only way that's a successful trade is with a SB win.  Otherwise the Eagles wasted a 4th round pick on 1/2 a season.

- AJ Brown makes it look easy

- Lastly, Chase Claypool...you're a tool.

How often does a division get to play the worst division in one conference and possibly the worst division in their own conference (toss up between the NFC South and North at this point.)

No doubt.  I think this year is a reality check for Mailata.  He showed up last year and was borderline dominant.  You really can't remember him getting beat.  This year, he's been beat in every game.  Early in the year he was having penalties too.  He's far from a finished product but I do think he's taken a step back from what we saw in 2021.  He has the mental makeup IMO to want to be the best so I don't think we've seen the best from him.  Still, something to watch as the season goes on.

Yes many of us were looking for Hurts to attack deep, and the show yesterday was great. Because it should cause even more issues for defenses moving forward. If you single up AJ he can torch most CBs.

If you roll coverage his way Smith/Goedert should find getting open much easier. And, then you have to account for our dominating run game. It’s a beautiful thing.

As for Quinn, he had the one offsides, but he put a few nice hits on Pickett. I think he’ll be a great addition as the season wears on

The Packers had a top 5 RB and a top 5 WR.

The top 5 WR forced his way out so he could play with a QB who was not a sociopath.

This is not a poor Aaron problem. Aaron is the problem.

How is that working out for Adams ??

Some thoughts:

Mailata is struggling, but we're also judging him on a scale where we expect him to be a pro bowl LT, he's still a work in progress. Teams have film of his tendencies, now he has to work to improve his weaknesses that have been exposed. It's easy to forget how inexperienced he is. He has 30 NFL starts and zero college starts. Spent two years at Stoutland U before he became a starter. And he's playing through a shoulder injury.

I'm not sold on Hurts yet, he's played one top defense (Dallas) so far. He's much improved over last season, but the hype is getting out of hand. I was the one preaching patience when everyone was saying he would never be more than a marginal starter, now I'm preaching patience when people want to make him a top 5 QB off 7 games. There's a lot of meat left on the bone, he's improved his mechanics, arm strength, accuracy and decision making, but he's not an elite QB, yet. But he's only 24, playing in the same system two years in a row (which matters for a young QB, he can focus on the details of playing QB instead of mastering a new scheme) and has the work ethic to continue to improve (which I think held McNabb back) and the cool under pressure that allows him to handle tough situations and not lose confidence when the inevitable bad days come again.

To sum it up, I'm optimistic that Hurts can continue to improve, but I"m not sold that he's already "there."

Losing Davis is a big blow, he's was just learning the NFL game - but they need to be patient - if it's a high ankle sprain, they can linger, and it'll probably take two weeks to get into game shape when he's finally ready - but they should make the playoffs without him - getting him back a couple weeks before the playoffs so he can get into game shape could be a key addition for a long post-season run.

Ellis failed his pre-season physical but the Eagles have him stashed on the non-football injury list.

Wilson might get his shot. Not sure what he has, so won't surprise me if Howie raids a PS or makes a late rd pick trade, especially for a young DT who might add depth next year when Cox leaves.

Those TDs to Brown show why he is such a smart WR.  He glances back at the right moment but then turns his head back and continues his cut and reaches up at just the right moment. Hated the taunt during the game.  Went back and watched the condensed version of the game and loved it.

Still trying to figure out what the non football like move was that Graham made. The way the ref looked (almost a smirk) when he made the call, I almost think he must make lifted a cheek and ripped a loud and smelly one.

Some of y’all wanted Davis Mills over Hurts. 🤣🤣🤣

lets not forget he injured his shoulder and is playing through it. He will likely have surgery in the offseason.

would like to see him get on lanes plan and lean out a bit
