No toss up there.  NFC South is far worse.

The 2015 Carolina Panthers.  Played the AFC South (9-7 division winner) and NFC East (9-7 division winner), PLUS they were the only team in their own division over .500.  Easiest schedule in NFL history.

Then Cam Newton imploded in the Super Bowl against an actual defense; didn't even compete against the shell of Peyton Manning in that Super Bowl.

Each week I think, why didn't the Titans just pay AJ Brown?  He's a cheat code when he has a chance to catch a ball.

Those TDs to Brown show why he is such a smart WR.  He glances back at the right moment but then turns his head back and continues his cut and reaches up at just the right moment. Hated the taunt during the game.  Went back and watched the condensed version of the game and loved it.

Still trying to figure out what the non football like move was that Graham made. The way the ref looked (almost a smirk) when he made the call, I almost think he must make lifted a cheek and ripped a loud and smelly one.

He was flinching in his stance, trying to incite a Steeler into false starting (which he did). I guess there was a lot yapping too; and the Zebra thought it was too much and pulled a flag out

Mailata is also injured, Im sure he's not over that injury yet.  Something to keep in mind

I thought Quinn had some really nice passrushes.  Hes definitely going to pay off.  A couple of those sacks where Pickett got blasted were because Quinn hemmed him in and let the DTs get home.

He's also very injury prone.  He has gained a large amount of weight since his rugby days.  I'd like to see him slim down and speed up to create better pockets.

Much like Hurts earlier in the year....we often say that Mailata is so effective in the ground game and the offense is so dominant on the ground that it's good enough to win.  But for being called an elite OT, there's really nothing elite about his pass protection, which is technically the most important part of his job.  He's got to take that to the next level.

These are not the teams I would have guessed, but the Dolphins and Jets also doing this is not surprising.

Since I always love talking offseason, even at 7-0:

Bradberry: Keep. I think the Eagles have to re-sign Bradberry.  I hate signing a 30 year old after a career year.  There has to be some NFL GM commandment against that.  But losing him changes the DNA of this defense.  This 2022 defense is built around shut down coverage from the DBs...the best in the NFL.  If the second most important coverage guy walks, the whole thing could regress badly.  Signing him also defers drafting a round 1-2 CB a couple more years.  Figure we'll have to do a Lito/Sheldon draft sometime around 2025 to replace Slay/Bradberry.  I'd keep Bradberry, knowing we won't like the last year or 2 of his deal.

Sanders: Walk.  Take the comp pick.  I don't want to pay an injury-prone RB who just had a career year behind this OL.  Draft an explosive RB in round 2-3 and sign a quality vet on the cheap.

White: Walk.  He's been a great pickup, but they can't (or at least shouldn't) just re-sign everyone to stupid money.  Trust your draft pick in Dean.

Edwards: Keep.  I don't want to turn over both traditional LB spots in one offseason.  And he'll be reasonably priced.

CJG.  Try to keep.  I don't want to pour too much money in the safety position.  He's the flashier name of our safeties, but probably less integral in both coverage and in the fabric of our defense.

Epps: Keep.  Much like Edwards, he'll be cheaper than his flashier counterpart.

Hargrave/Cox: I would not keep both.  With Davis and Williams, we can't afford to give Cox/Hargrave huge money.  Much like our LB/S dilemma, keep one and let the other walk.

I think they can afford Bradberry, Edwards, CJG, Epps, and one of the starting DTs.  They should have enough young emergent talent on the roster and 2023 draft picks to replace the rest, even if you allocated the pair of first round picks to edge rusher and OL (which is where I think they should go).

Another interesting comparison is Waddle, Smith, and Brown.

The Eagles traded out of the opportunity to draft Waddle for a 2022 first round pick...that turned into AJ Brown.  Of course, some mid round picks swirled about too that I don't care to look up right now.

Yes...Waddle is decisively better than Smith.  But they have AJ Brown and Smith for what would have been Waddle.

FA outlook, given our resources/cap space/depth chart

  • Epps: Walk
  • GCJ: Keep
  • Cox: Walk
  • Hargrave: Walk
  • Sanders: Walk
  • Bradberry: Walk (sadly)
  • Edwards: Keep (cost)
  • White: Walk (Dean instead)
  • Quinn: Walk
  • Minshew: Keep
  • Dillard: Walk
  • Seumalo: Keep
  • Opeta: Keep (RFA)
  • Pascal: Keep

Keep that cap space, + get those 2024 comp picks.

Eagles schedule gets touch in December. Perhaps that's good to get prepared for the playoffs but it will also make it a battle to hold onto that #1 seed.

Why is he worried about it ????

I cannot get over how much Hurts has improved year over year. After last season I was not sold on him at all, but damn I am now. PS -- good thing I'm not an Eagles scout because this team would be a dumpster fire if I were in charge of evaluating talent.

I was once on a job interview, for a job I was meh about, the person I was interviewing with was such a **** but I really needed a position.  At one point he said, "We drug test here, I hope that's not a problem."......it took all my restraint to not reply "That's not a problem at all.......I love testing drugs!!!!!"  Really would have loved to have seen his reaction to that. LMAO

The decisions on which defensive free agents to keep may be influenced by where Gannon ends up next year.

If he is a HC elsewhere, the new DC may have some subtle changes that would impact their decisions.

I could see us going undefeated with this schedule but later on the team might start looking past games and give up one

Chiacgo...meh. Keep Fields in the pocket and he may be the worst QB in the league

So you got the Titans, who are jekyll and hyde at home and a road game with Dallas which may be very interesting

They aren't extremely overrated.  They are a very well coached team that have given us issues in the past even when they were terribly coached.  Those games will be a challenge.  3 straight road games too will be tough.

End stretch is for sure the toughest.

Titans 5-2

@ Giants 6-2

@ Bears 3-5 (starting to figure things out offensively)

@ Cowboys 6-2

Saints 3-5 (starting to look pretty potent offensively)

Giants 6-2

To be honest IDGAF if they don't go undefeated so long as they get the first round bye and home field throughout playoffs.

Dean is an ILB not outside so he would take over for Edwards, no?

This is what irritates me. Mailata seems to always get a pass for a lackluster performance.

Haven't looked at a playoff picture but I wouldn't think #1 seed would need much with the way the overall nfc has been lol
