WTF?

Essentially the Lions traded a recent first rounder, and 2 fourth round picks for a 2nd and a 3rd to a division rival. I think Hockenson was criminally underused in Detroit...mainly due to Jared Goff. Guy isn't exactly known as a being a tight end friendly QB. So moved up one round next year, and 2 rounds the year after. Meh trade for them.

The old boards were linked to the Eagles organization and anything that got to Dave he didn't want anything negative to reflect on his team or the site.  Mods can't read every post, we mostly go on reported posts.  So if you think "antics continue unchecked" and you don't like it, report the post so we see it.

Yup.

Look I've warned this blog a bunch of times to just ignore, don't reply to feed the trolls.  We also tried to not give warnings or suspensions but people asked for it, getting sick of personal attacks.  Majority of reported posts are from this blog reporting each other.

I appreciate the discussion it generated with some guys talking about class and respect, others saying don't take the internet too seriously.  I've said myself you have to have thick skin on the internet that shouldn't be news to anyone. But there are still rules.  I didn't even call them rules I called them guidelines.

Any of you that are confused or want to question the mods or whine about unfair treatment I suggest you re-read the pinned guidelines.

Now there was some talk about stay at home moms and au pairs with time on their hands and you guys still want to talk about internet drama.  Turn in your man cards!

Hockenson is very good but I dunno if spending premium picks on a TE is an interesting use of resources

Hmm it’s a nice pick up for the Vikings and that offense. Don’t know how i feel about it from the lions side. I’d have love it from the lions side of things if they didn’t have  to include their picks along with giving up hockenson.

Eating money and restructuring are two different things.  The contract does not change when one team keeps salary on their books.

Then the tweet literally makes no sense. Why are teams not allowed to eat money now if it's not a restructure?

Either way, it doesn't even matter.

Pretty sure Mod6 said end the drama and move on. The parties involved got their punishments.

People, this is a fan-driven internet message board dedicated to a team we all love. This is NOT your life, or at least...shouldn't be.

Stop taking this place so damn seriously.

I'm on here to have some laughs, stay up on Eagles happenings, and share in some camaraderie amongst fellow fans.

When I close my browser, I literally do not think about this place in the least bit.

Some of you have made a message board WAY too big a part of your lives if you can't stop thinking about this place when you're not logged in. 4for4 or Bacarty or RTK or anyone do not affect my life in any measurable way, shape, or form.

Now, my after-school special speech is over.

I believe you have missed the point.  Your bolded sentence only describes a portion of what this place is ... and for many of us a relatively minor part.  What you have omitted is that it is an education forum ... a virtual classroom ... where people interested in learning more about the game they love (and the team they root for) come together to participate is collaborative education.  What you have described and the educational function should be able to co-exist amicably, but that educational component appears to be an anathema to a number of the posters here.  I wish they would follow your advice to "Stop taking this place so damn seriously" and ignore the educational posts, but that has not been in the cards during the recent past.  Hopefully we can have a reset and the educational mission of the Blog will once again be able to peacefully co-exist with the fandom.

TJ Hock to Minny.  Given how bad Smith has been this can be a big upgrade for them.

Yeah I think it’s a bad trade for Detroit because of having to give up the 4ths. Just weird.

Hockenson is a nice two-way TE. Sorta Goedert lite. That seems like a stiff price to pay for a tier 3 or so TE. Maybe he’ll be unlocked in Minnesota.

Agreed with the bolded.

What he should have said, to be clear, is teams can not restructure or eat part of the contract to facilitate a trade.  As of the deadline, the acquiring team has to take on the full contract.

100%. Dumb trade for both sides in my opinion.

Drafting TEs in the first round is almost as dumb as drafting RBs. It rarely works out.

A late 3 is worth significantly more than early 4s. Top 100 picks are gold.

Hockenson is not a tier 3 TE.

Tier 1 - Kelce, Andrews, Kittle

Tier 2 - Goedert, Hockenson, Ertz, Pitts

Tier 3 - Gesicki, Njoku, Freiermuth,

If this team wants to be battle tested for the playoffs, they need to get in and win a couple of shootouts, and need to get behind early, be down multiple scores at the half and come back and win games.

2017 had the early loss to KC, the bad loss to Seattle.

Had the comeback and last second win against the Giants, had to go score for score a couple of times, and then went into LA and won the huge game with the other team trying to be the #1 seed.

I am worried come playoff time that the Eagles have not had to pass many tests, and will be a over confident.

Against both Jax and Dallas the Eagles needed to make drives and stops late, and did.

I think what we havent seen is the 2nd half comeback.  I dont think we've even trailed for a second in any 2nd half.   Not that I want to see it, but thats a box that hasnt been checked

Good news for us when Dallas plays @ Vikings later in the season.

It's pretty weird the team getting the player is getting the conditional pick. So if he sucks the Vikings get a better pick back from the Lions?

Gesicki? He’s a tier 7 slot WR.

That is why they do it with wine. Wine is complicated and can be intimidating for most people, especially if they are trying to impress someone. So they train their staff to push people towards their brands, saying that it is special and that they cant get it anywhere else. What the consumer doesnt know if that the $60 bottle of wine they just purchased, if it was not bought up by Total Wine and was available for sale in all stores, its actual worth would be around $15.

They will never go into a state controlled place like North Carolina or Pennsylvania. They need to sell wine to make their business model work.

They are in NC.  They don't sell a lot of expensive stuff. Most of their staff selected pics are comparable to what you will pay for the same bottle at the grocery store.  They have a better variety than most grocery stores but they have to stay competitive on the pricing front.  They actually have some better deals and it makes them reasonable if you're buying stuff for a party.

I disagree, there is more production from the beginning of the 4th than the end of the 3rd in last years draft.

At a glance, same can be said for 2021 and 2020

That’s the part that bothers me. Because the fourth round pick this year is going to likely be in the top five of that round. Next year I’m guessing they’re going to draft a quarterback and play him as a rookie so they’re likely not gonna be that good next year either unless that rookie plays on the level that we’ve not seen of other rookie QBs this year. So that again could be a high 4th round pick. Not only that hockenson is still cheap for this year. next year on his 5th year deal is still not bad value.

I understand if the Lions didn’t wanna give him an extension because I didn’t think he would be worth the money but if I’m a team like the lions that’s rebuilding I don’t want to have to give up draft picks along with a asset other teams find  valuable. If they make that trade, get a second round pick and a third round pick without giving up the picks, I think it’s a good trade for them (Based off the fact they don’t think he’s worth the extension). But throwing the extra picks when you need picks to build up that team makes me like it a lot less.

Their secondary has been awful this year. Do they have a decent safety?

Small sample sizes. Although that’s a pretty strong top of round 4 there.

Seems like they worked on this during the bye.  Gainwell was good in protection as well.
