I disagree, there is more production from the beginning of the 4th than the end of the 3rd in last years draft.

At a glance, same can be said for 2021 and 2020

I’d add most teams draft boards from like 75 to 125 vary so hypothetically you moving back seven spots from pick 99 to 106 there’s very likely a chance multiple players sitting there in their draft board top 100 anyway.

Their secondary has been awful this year. Do they have a decent safety?

D'Andre Swift... yes, yes.

Pick 95 is the latest non-conditional 3 this year.

Small sample sizes. Although that’s a pretty strong top of round 4 there.

2021 and 2020 have larger sample sizes, and both have top of 4th guys doing more than end of 3rd.

A late 3 is worth significantly more than early 4s. Top 100 picks are gold.

Trading a good player within the division should command a higher premium than what was paid, IMO

No, I’m saying three drafts is a small sample size overall.

He got hurt by the time I could type this reply. I'll take Jamaal Williams though.

Did we get an idea about when JD's MRI results will be explained - has that happened?  4-6 weeks speculated, but nothing from the team?

In order of preference if the birds make a move today:

1) 3rd safety

2) DT depth (NT experience preferred)

3) RB upgrade (likely on RB2 over replacing Sanders)

4) special teams help (returner and/or a high end gunner)

1) I do like the idea of McLeod replacing Wallace

2) We have that already on the roster in the person of Marvin Wilson

3) I do like the idea of a Hines trade replacing Sermon on the roster

4) In terms of Gunner it is interesting to look at the NFL stats for Punting.  The Eagles rank 11th in holding opposing punt returners to short returns ... a 7.0 yard average.  Their gunners must be doing something right.  The NFL league-wide average currently is 8.8  and the majority of the 10 teams allowing shorter returns are also kicking shorter punts.  We have a hell of a Gunner on the Practice Squad in Devon Allen.  If the coaches felt Gunner was a problem they would have elevated him in one of the seven games thus far.

Also, the Lions just got more ammunition for a QB trade-up. I think any team trading down is going to value a 2/3 over Hock and a couple of 4s.

Siposs is near the bottom in punt distance - that could be due to short fields or the return team is getting a break with the touchbacks.  I don't think he is outkicking his coverage though.

I wanted Jamal In that draft, Howie took that 165 pound high school RB instead😡

Hockenson is a nice two-way TE. Sorta Goedert lite. That seems like a stiff price to pay for a tier 3 or so TE. Maybe he’ll be unlocked in Minnesota.

His body doesn't remind at all of Goedert's.  I think he's more of the Ertz type player.  I think one of the comps for him out of college was Travis Kelce because whe was highly thought of and the better of the 2 TEs from Iowa taken in the first round in 2019. He's probably a good reason why teams shouldn't draft a TE in the first round.  Detroit could have had Gary or Burns at pick 10.  TE production seems to me to be highly dependent on QB play and offensive schemes that utilize the TE in a way to create the biggest match up problem.  So my guess is the difference between the 50th percentile athlete and 75th percentile TE, in terms of production, isn't that much of a factor.  I do think he will have more success in Min just because they will be able to utilize him more effectively.

Texans may try to counter the Lions tank with some trades of their own. The race toward the bottom is on. I say Cooks to the Rams, Snead can't help himself.
