I think Allen showed more value as a gunner than Covey did as a returner.

Im underwhelmed with any of them, including Cain as a WR.

I like Covey.  And the Eagles do need a punt returner.   Covey had 4 punt return TDs in college.  To your point,  I don't think that Covey was particularly impressive in the preseason. I still like him.   If anybody runs for 1600 yards as a QB in high school,  I like him.  If, when doing that, he wins the state championship twice and goes undefeated as a QB, going 26-0,  I like him even more.  And that's what Covey did.  In college he rarely threw,  3 attempts.  But 2 TD passes.  and a college passer rating of 518.8.  He ran the ball somewhat frequently,  had  49 attempts,  300 yards,  6.1 yards per carry.   I'd say he would do the jet sweep better than Reagor.  184 catches in college isn't some huge amount,  but it's a good amount,  he had the most catches on Utah a number of years.

On the other hand,  if I'm throwing the ball 55 yards in the air,  I'm probably going to want Allen out there to do that.  Better 40 time, more size and we saw him do that successfully.    The Eagles do have Covey, Allen and Cain on the practice squad.   All 3 of those players, I believe,  could be moved up and down from the practice squad .   If one plays and sucks, perhaps that player moves back to the practice squad.   Additionally,  I don't think Hurts game and the Eagles game is highly reliant on those very long passes.  Was that Sinnett to Allen or Strong to Allen for the big TD in the preseason game?   It seems to me that Covey would be able to use his quickness to get open close to the line of scrimmage, and could be a versatile weapon or a slot receiver catching short passes.  But he probably wouldn't play much and neither would Allen or Cain.    Brown and Smith and Goedert will get a lot of snaps and a lot of targets.   Hurts.  And 2 other players.   I'd want to put Cam Jurgens in there.  Call him a running back.   The Eagles don't have a big running back.  If you call Cam Jurgens a running back, you have a big running back.  Whatever.   Jurgens + running back.  Thats 5 of 6.   One spot for Watkins, Pascal, all the other TEs,  and this other WR who we're arguing about.   I like Tyree Jackson and would like to see him get a bunch of snaps when he's fully healthy.   There just aren't that many snaps for WR5 on offense.   Britain Covey could be useful for trick plays,  Britain, in the slot goes in motion,  gets the direct snap, a handoff, pitch, lateral,  and runs outside, or throws.   We're not talking about doing this much, but he has done it in college.   It's something he brings to the table.

Covey showed good wiggle and surprising tackle breaking ability on his returns,  but still managed very few yards. Underwhelmed by his returns and his receiving. Unfortunate, I had higher hopes based off college.

He is a guy who belongs on the practice squad. There's potential. I don't think he's ready for either role yet on the advice roster.

The guy for your trick plays is Bowden.

And I'm not even touching the part about Jurgens as a RB.

Balldawg went out in a blaze of glory battling with probully.

He argued with mods and would get suspended for months, come back and do it all over again.

Crypto thread is in CVON.

Just want to let everyone know, i went back and looked at the last 10 Phillies games I’ve gone to in Arizona and eagles/cards games in Az since i last saw the eagles win. They are a combined 0-14 (didn’t go to the 2020 eagles game but they didn’t win that either) in those games. So bad news I’m going to the eagles/cardinals game in Glendale this year. But good news bet heavily on the cardinals that day

Phillies:
8/10/15– L 13-3
8/11/15– L 13-1
(2016– didn’t go was out of town— won all 3)
6/16/17– L 5-4
6/17/17— L 5-1
8/8/18– L 6-0
8/6/19– L 8-4

8/7/19– L 6-1

8/17/21– L 3-2
8/18/21– L 4-2
8/30/22– L 12-3

eagles:

10/26/14– L 20-24

9/23/12– L 6-27

1/18/09–L 25-32

12/24/05– L 21-27

I don’t think we ever had a chance at beating the cardinals anyway.

It’s one thing if it’s every now and then, but the back and forth and personal attacks are daily. It’s driving people away from the website. It shouldn’t be hard for people to act like adults. Most of you guys have been 21+ for a while.

Yes. It's really not that hard to be civil. It's not that much to ask for.

Supper was at 6:30. You are too late.  (My Dad grew up on a ranch and dinner was the big meal midday.  I always figured that was the right thing to do but just can’t bring myself to,start cooking mid morning.)

I am one poblano away from Chile rellenos.  Probably next is a red salsa. My tomato jungle is prolific as are my serranos and jalapeños and I have a couple of ripe habaneros. (Did I mention I like spicy salsa.) contemplating roasting some tomato’s. Figure I am a week away from salsa verde.

Speaking of gardens, @Iggles_Phan and others, ever grow broccoli or cauliflower?  When in the F are they supposed to flower?  Learned a lot from my expanded garden this year.  Somewhere up in the clouds my mom is chuckling at me.  Don’t worry, Mom, I am laughing too, should have paid more attention.

Nope. I thought about growing broccoli, but never have taken the plunge.  I've heard of it being tough to keep pest free too.

Your house is belt driven?   Got yourself a little mobile home, eh?  Watch out for tornados, they seek out those things.

Can always find him in the bitcoin thread in cvon

We claimed Mond too? Why were we so motivated to have a crappy third QB on the 53? Gross.

Good question, but it's just hard to find good #3 QBs. Half the league lacks a good backup

So which RB are the Eagles adding today to round out the 53 man roster ??

They were talking on 97.5 yesterday that they were hearing some rumblings that Miles Sanders injury is worse than is being reported.

QB1 is RB1.

They added Perine from the Jets to the PS. They could activate him on game day.

Sanders might be back by opening day.

I'd kick the tires on Mack. Cheap vet

Howie may be looking to trade Minshew at some point.

I imagine Book is waived and added to the practice squad after week 1

Why would Book sign with the Eagles PS? Do we somehow retain his rights?

If you don't have a good #3, then you shouldn't have 3 on the roster.  That's what the PS is for.

We'd have to hope... but aren't there rules about how quickly you can waive a player after you claim them?
