Nola wasok but doesnt matter much when we get no hit

It still matters.  If Nola had pitched a one-hitter over 9 innings and lost 1-0 I'd probably shrug my shoulders and blame the offense, but the hitters not hitting doesn't prevent Nola from pitching well.  He was taken off the hook in Game 1 because of a great comeback (due to Verlander doing a great Nola impersonation).

I said after Game 2 the Philles should be overjoyed leaving Houston at 1-1, considering both of their best starting pitchers contributed nothing.  Win or lose tonight, Wheeler has to show up in Game 6.

It’ll be interesting how the run defense holds up tonight. We weren’t particularly good at defending the run even with Davis’ snaps, so how will it look without his help? The Texans have no WRs worth mentioning if Cooks is out. We’re going to see a bunch of TEs with a fullback on the field. That shouldn’t lead to many points, but it could be a blueprint for teams like the Colts, Titans and Packers coming up.

yup...their only chance is to reduce down the number of possessions in the game....to try to keep it low scoring.

That's a bit of a misperception. We just had a 42-34 game on TNF a couple weeks back.

Decided to dive deeper into this.  Throwing out the league opening game on TNF since it wasn't on a short week the average total points for TNF, SNF and MNF so far this season:

TNF: 43.4 points

SNF: 37.6 points

MNF: 41.1 points

So of the 3 prime time games each week you are getting the highest scoring games on average on TNF.

Yes and so with that average…how often have teams put up 40 plus points?

@LeanMeanGM

Birds 28

Texans 13

Eagles score 3 points in the 2nd half

I feel the Jordan Davis injury is going to be more impactful than most think. This team has not been great against the run, and the Birds just lost their best run defender. This is a decent match up for the defense to figure out the run game without Davis.

It was baseball.   It happens.   And last night's game didn't count more for the Astros because they won 5-0 and the Phillies were no-hit.  Just like Tuesday's game didn't count extra for the Phillies when they scored 7 runs and didn't give up any.

Each baseball game in the post-season exists independent of the others.  The only exception to that is injuries and pitcher fatigue.   The Phillies have the same chance of winning Game 5 tonight as they had when Game 3 finished.  Nothing about Game 5 got harder or easier because of last night's game.

And we'll see how the Phillies come out to hit Verlander.  They got to him last time in Houston.  They can do it again in CBP.

Anyone who thought this series was going to be an easy one for the Phillies was kidding themself.    Good series.  Good baseball.  Game on tonight.

I'm starting to think that Phillies starting pitching, with the exception of Ranger, is totally gassed. They got a lot of mileage on those arms.

Adding a legitimate starting pitcher (or two) has to be the priority for the offseason.

Really thinking I might place a bet for the Eagles to cover, and I've never actually placed a bet at a sportsbook, lol

Houston is 1-16 in their last 17 outside the division. They’ve won 9 total games over the last 3 years. Since 2020, they’re bottom 5 in points scored, and they’re one of 8 teams to allow over 1000 on defense. On top of all that, they’ve had 3 days to prepare for the team that has been maintaining the streak as the NFL’s lone undefeated since week THREE.

This is arguably the least winnable game in their franchise’s history

Phils in 6.🙃  We ARE winning tonight.  F You Jobu. We do it ourselves.

Eagles smoke Housty like they are standing still.  Close to a 40 burger.   I'm on record for 38 for the good guys.

Bring the noise, bring the funk.

Philadelphia is one of only two teams top 4 in offense and defense. We are currently 0.3 yards behind Buffalo defensively, so if we can hold Houston to under 280 yards of offense we’ll be the only team top 3 in both.

Philadelphia is 11-0 against Houston NFL teams all time.

The best Houston football player on the field tonight will play QB for the Eagles.

This is going to be the game people point to and say, "this is moment I realized that team is making NFL history”

20-0, I believe!

Only way the Eagles don't cover is if it quickly gets out of hand and they pull the starters early, which now that I think about it, very well might happen.

Just have to forget everything that's happened so far and look at it like it's 0-0 and now a best of 3.

I think this will be a rather uninteresting game in Houston tonight.  Probably something like 31 - 10 and the second string guys might get some playing time.

Also, I will be placing a second television in my living room so I can simultaneously watch the Eagles and the Phillies games.  I may get in trouble with my wife.
