God help us all if that happens.  Imagine improving on this as your first two seasons.

Yeah that’s part of what I’m not sold on the Chargers about. How has he played this well and they only have 16 wins in those 2 years? Is it the difficulty of the division, lack of talent on the team, the coaching… or is it something he can correct by continually improving? I think he’s much better than Cousins; but that’s the name that comes to mind when I see such gaudy stats not collude with winning

Just looked at the box score and yes he did.  But going from a powerhouse like Miami to Utah State, you should dominate.

indeed. but the snippet I read said while the opponent wasnt very strong, they do apparently have potential NFL talent on the OL. So cant really diminish the performance too much.

Anyway, even against a weak school like UCONN, what safety racks up 6 sacks?

Guy to keep an eye on. Maybe a nice talent who will be downgraded in the draft due to his program.

Utah State in general, with Gurvan, and the QB Bonner. Something to keep an eye on.

So the Blue Jays have been running a promo this year, Tuesday home games they sell hot dogs for a loonie ($1). This past Tuesday, they sold a season high 45,642 dogs.

On Sept 13, they have a day/night doubleheader against the Rays, and I'm going to the night game. Here's hoping we collectively crush over 100k hot dogs in one day!

That’s just looney…..also

Utah st home of Merlin Olsen...

They've produced a few guys here and there.

Most notably Bobby Wagner.

Jordan love will get his shot to represent in GB.

I'm never going to discount a guy because of where he played college ball.

Plenty of good NFL players played at pondunk colleges like Utah St. Where as lots of guys from big school never made it.

I would certainly take it into account. No thanks to any Ohio State QB, for instance.

This is why i brought up the whole Herbert and the offense vs. playoff teams. Their offense averaged 30ppg against playoff teams. But yet managed to only be 5-4. Their defense was solid earlier in the year but as the season went on they had injuries and guys miss games with Covid. They were just not very good at the end of the year. gave up 34 in 3 of the last 4 games.

The Texans game in week 15 spoke volumes to their defense. Because they scored enough on offense to win that game (could’ve been more if they got extra possessions) but yet the defense with a couple guys out with injury and Covid gave up 34 points to the Texans (defensive score by Texans made it 41). their defense was atrocious for much of the last month of the year. Only other team to give up 26 or more to the Texans offense all year was the jags (twice).  after their bye week (week 8 ) they gave up 27.2 ppg. Heck the last 4 weeks of the season it was worse. Gave up 29 ppg. The concern really should be that they hired a defensive coach and yet their defense got worse as the season carried on. instead of making adjustments and getting a little bit better with his scheme.

my guy loves veggies, and fruit. He and I will eat raw potatos(whcih most find weird) along with green peppers, and cellery with hot sauce as a snack.

I cant stand cauliflower or broccoli and but he loves it. When I order his chinese food he gets seaseme chicken and broccoli with extra extra broccoli.

Not bullshitting when I say he doesnt like beets, coleslaw, mussels and clams. Texture thing I guess. but thats it.

Yes eating raw potatoes is weird...😉

I think that’s the Dak Prescott stat right there. What was the score halfway through the third? Part of that could be Herbert crawling back against Cover 4 in a sure loss where the full game stats don’t look different than if he was battling it out in a back forth at the end.

Not saying I know that happened, but empty stats is a stigma he’ll have to overcome (which I think he will, eventually)

His first season was 99% Lynn's fault

The Chargers have found ways to lose games over the past 2-3 years.  Usually that's a sign of bad coaching decisions and mistakes by players who don't have situational awareness (also a symptom of bad coaching).  Anthony Lynn was a poor game manager, and Brandon Staley in his first year also made several head-scratching blunders.

Hopefully for their sake Staley becomes a better in-game manager and their defense gets stronger as well.

Yeah, just a bad year for it. They likely win the NFC East, but do they even get third in the AFC West?

Agree but I can't judge. I've been known to eat those dehydrogenated scalloped potates right out of the box and the occational pinch of instant mashed potato flakes.

I think eating raw potatoes is one of the items in the psychopathy checklist.

Howie may be looking to trade Minshew at some point.

That would not surprise me at all.  What do you think he would get as value in return in a trade?  And will Minshew's trade value increase as the season progresses and injuries happen?

Tbh the chargers were never really getting destroyed in any of those games besides the Baltimore game and the first Denver game. (Could make the argument the Minnesota game they really within 10 most of the game but it felt like they weren’t getting over that hump.) They were always in the games. The rest of the games

I had Herbert in multiple leagues for Fantasy leagues so I watched a lot of their games. Plus he’s one of my favorite QBs in the league to watch. This is what would tend to happen. Example 1: The Chargers against the Texans. Chargers got it to to be 27 to 23 in the fourth quarter. and then the Chargers defense gives up a 72 yards on 7 plays in three minutes to make it 34-23. Example 2: Go to the second chiefs game, chargers take a 21-13 lead (should’ve been 28-13 if Kelley didn’t fumble the ball at the 1 yard line ).  Very next possession for the chiefs in 5 plays went 75 yards to tie it in 1:45. Chargers once against take a 28-21 lead. Very next possession chiefs go 75 yards in 8 plays in 1:03 to tie it. There is a bunch of those type of games were their defense just gives up these drives when the offense is doing their part.

to be perfectly honest, I think the AFC West is gonna beat up on each other and hurt themselves in the seeding department. So they’re going to have a tougher time getting to the Super Bowl because of that division. But I also think it’s just Buffalo‘s year. The way they lost that playoff game I think he’s gonna carry with them all year so they have a point approved. And I just think they’re a roster as compared to everyone in the AFC if Josh Allen is playing at that level is better.

Perhaps you’ve built an immunity to solanine, which is toxic to humans. Potatoes are in the nightshade family, and not cooking out the solanine will give you bad digestive problems

I think a team in need due to injuries would pay something like a conditional 4th/5th rounder.

What can Williams do best?

Why not? That's my first question.

2 hours ago, TorontoEagle said:

I posted yesterday how I don't see all the love for Williams. But I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by him this year.

I was looking at stats, and an oddity jumps at me....we ran 1075 offensive plays last year...and our defense faced 1076 plays against them.

I clicked over to Tampa, they ran 1139 offensive plays and faced 1093 opposing offensive plays.

That's 3.76 more plays a game than us on O, and 1.05 plays on d more than us.

Of our 1076 defensive snaps, Williams played 456, or 41%.

Do you see that number increasing for him? If so, do you think it's a significant increase? Does he get to say, 60%? I wouldn't think so based on the rotation we'll be using. Without a significant increase in his snaps, or even if he remains around 40%, does he have the opportunity to be as good as some are hoping?

Williams is our smallest and quickest DT. I see him as a 4i in 3/5-man fronts, or 3-tech in 4-man fronts. Based on down and distance and against run-heavy teams, he'll play less on run downs and more on pass downs. I think 41% again overall is a reasonable expectation, considering that we'll rotate five DTs. If we go to a light 4-2 (or, if you prefer, a 2-4 with stand-up wide-9 edge rushers) it'll be Davis and Cox as the two down DL. My best guess anyway.

We kept Sinnett over this?

I was thinking the same thing. However, trading for a QB now would be out of desperation. The new QB has to come in and learn a new system, signals, verbiage, timing, etc. Even when Bradford got traded to the Vikings a week before the season started, he still sat the first 2 weeks. Jimmy G only played his first season with the niners because of injury.

Also - Minshew has 1 year left on his contract.

All that being said, I can’t imagine Minshew gets dealt unless a team is beyond desperate and thinks they can still compete with a competent QB.

He’d probably be worth a 4th, at best. So I’d just keep him.

Yep, kid was dropping dimes in that video.  It will be very interesting if we ever find out what happened with this situation.
