If hit Harper 3, Realmoto 4

Also a good plan. Gives harper more at bats hitting up one spot higher. Then again since game 2 realmuto is 1-17 with 11 Ks. Frankly i think all the innings he’s accumulated this year are catching up to him. He’s caught more innings than any other catcher by a wide margin.

Pretty wild.

I got into a debate with an Eagles fan on Reddit because the guy wanted us to let go of CGJ & draft Jordan Battle instead because CGJ has been "awful” & Battle would be an immediate upgrade. This was right after the Dallas game where he picked off Rush twice. Glad to see CGJ is still me proving me right.

2 runs last 21 innings. Not feeling any magic coming.

I’ve watched this team all year. Heck games where no one else was talking in the Phillies thread for a couple days and it was just me. Whenever i think they are just done and completely dead they wind up just doing the complete opposite and fighting to live another day. They are like that cockroach that you have to step on a million times for it to die. Not saying. They win game 6 cause frankly i don’t see it but it would be their style to win a game no one expects them too.

Would anyone trade away the past five weeks?  It's been a great run.  Hope to see it through to the end.

It’s a two part problem. However JT and Rhys have hit during this postseason run. Jt has been brutal outside of game 1. Rhys has done little outside of game 3. So they really needed to step up and haven’t. That said Castellanos is hitting .196 with 3 walks in the postseason. So he’s not giving you good at bats either. The other issue with moving castellanos out of the 5 hole is that bohm for the postseason is hitting just .220 and stott doesn’t have a hit in the WS. You’d have to hope bohm starts hitting or segura gets going. I’d move castellanos down anyway cause we did that at one point this season and he actually hit a little better.

At least Castellanos has made a couple of nice defensive plays. Rhys on the other hand...

Phillies went from feeling like 2017 Eagles to 2001 Eagles real fast. Hard to say disappointed overall, but more so frustrating.

2006 Eagles.  Weren't supposed to be there, had some great moments and unlikely heroes, but still managed to disappoint us in the end.

On the bright side, they are still only two wins away...

This was discussed prior to the series, but Thompson kept it because it's been working. Who would you put behind Harper?

F it. Try it.

1- Stott

2- Hoskins

3- Harper

4- Schwarber

5- Realmuto

6- Bohm

7- Castellanos

8- Segura

9- Marsh

Was it ‘06 or ‘08 where everything broke our way week 17?

I am gonna watch it even if it’s agonizing and painful on Saturday night. It is/was a fun ride. Frankly before the postseason i picked the Astros to win it. I thought they were the best team even with the dodgers winning the most games. I actually joked on the Phillies thread before the Yankees series that if Vegas made an over/under for losses the Astros suffer in the postseason and set it at 2.5 I’d probably take the under simply cause the yankees weren’t beating them and i didn’t think many NL teams could get to 3 wins against them. Their bullpen is lights out and they have SP depth. Not just depth guys who could be Aces on other teams. Imo Valdez is their best pitcher stuff wise but right now Javier is pitching like doc out there

To me the biggest weakness the Phillies had coming into the series (besides defense) was depth at starting pitching. They really needed nola and wheeler to pitch great and win at least 2 and really probably 3 of their 4 starts to win this thing. The fact we were tied at 2 before today with neither winning any in 3 starts is pretty amazing. Nola looks gassed. Ricky B said it best his arm dropped after the first and he began struggling with his location. His arm dropping with his delivery kind of speaks to his tired. In fairness most he’s ever pitched but also he’s come up small in the past at times doesn’t help him. I’d add some of this is on the Phillies for getting themselves into a 22-29 hole so he had to pitch more down the stretch due having to win games to get in.

Imo the Phillies really should look into signing Carlos rodon this offseason. It would allow you to have a very good staff. He’s an ace type left so it breaks up wheeler and nola. Plus if you play better in May and April can rest some guys down the stretch to keep them fresh. The difference between the Astros guys and Phillies guys right now is down the stretch they could rest some guys and give them a start off or two.

Neither here nor there, but Goedert caught 8 of 9 targets for 100 yards. The only miss he was wide open for something like a 20-yard gain.

He’s a baller.

Edit: He’s on pace to top 1,100 yards.

I’m doubting stott is playing on Saturday. Valdez being a lefty you likely are getting sosa.

Meh. Divisional round vs NFCCG. Either way it sucks but hard to complain.

Only 4th TE with 100-yard game this season

That’s the second ball like that he’s Fed up. He’s lucky he was still able to get Alvarez with where the ball went. i believe analytics say he’s the worst fielding first baseman. Rhys is going to run hot and cold but his fielding has cost the Phillies multiple times this postseason. Luckily we were able to overcome it but at some point can’t have a black hole at first especially when he’s either ice cold or red hot. There’s really no i between. I don’t know what they do there cause his arbitration is up after 2023. He’s gonna be 31. I wouldn’t pay him but it’s a pretty lousy FA class at first. So you’d have to trade for one or go with hall. I don’t think hall is an upgrade defensively over there.

A stat to think about.  The Eagles have played 32 quarters of football.

They have been behind at the end of only 2.  1st quarter Det and Jax.

They have been tied at the end of 5.  1st quarter Was, Dal, Pit, Hou and 2nd quarter Hou.

This was the only game where the weren't leading at halftime.

Yep. I got Kelce and Andrews at the top with Goedert just under them (better than the rest)
