While I agree that Smith isn't exactly best suited for WR screens, why haven't they been featuring Gainwell in the passing game at all?

He's only here to score td's.

I don’t want to turn this into "I hate Devonta,” but I don’t think he’s an elite route runner at this point. I think Brown’s a top-10 NFL receiver and Goedert is a top 3/4 TE who is among the most efficient pass catchers in the league.

What? He caught 117 balls in 13 games for Bama and won the Heisman. It wasn't based off his size either.

Who won prediction last night?

NCTank had 30-17 and Waiting4Someday had 28-17

Elite NFL route runner vs elite college route runner. We’re throwing the word elite around a little too casually.

At this point fletch should be the NT

The other option is to run a 4 man front and bring Dean in as a 3rd LB for Gap discipline.

And with that, I’m bowing out of the Devonta Smith conversation!

Ohh because his footwork and timing just gets worse as he hits his prime. His route running is elite.

You are on an island with this one.

Do we know the nature of Noah Elliss’ injury? Is he out for the season - it would appear so, as he’d be good body for the PS.

Otherwise, I agree - I’m not sure we’ll do much better than Big Marv raiding other teams’ PSs a la Danny Shelton?

I sent an Eagles front office contact of mine an e-mail early in the week asking about Elliss' status and I have not gotten a response as yet.

Ok, I lied. Last point. I didn’t say his route running is worse, but his route running is no longer being compared to fellow college players. He’s now being compared to the best of the best in the world. I don’t think he’s the route runner that Jefferson, Kupp, Diggs, etc are.

That’s not even a knock on Smith.

Speaking of early, Lane should have been called for at least 3 false starts last night.  Dude was off so early, it was plain as day live.

You know that is gonna bite us in a critical moment down the road.

Maybe, but he’s a vet. They’ll correct in film room or a ref will check him and he’ll get back in the count.

You are not bowing out, you are 100% wrong.  Devonta Smith is an ELITE NFL route runner.

I'd also like to add that he's probably the best jump ball receiver on the team. Yes, better than Brown.

Last week was a Brown game.  Yesterday was a Goedert game.  If you remember, the first WAS game was a Smith game.

Keep the opposing DC guessing

I love that Howie told off some dumb fan in the stands last night.

But I also wonder if he will face any discipline.

Players get fined for flipping the bird to fans as a general gesture while walking off the field. Howie was caught on camera directly confronting a fan about his sign with a couple clearly audible F bombs. It would seem that should draw some discipline from the league. It seems worse than a general bird flipping in to the stands.

If you notice, we pass a lot in the first quarter.  More than you'd think with our ability to run.  Siri/Steichen are evaluating what the opposing DC had planned.  Then we settle in and attack.

I think most recognized that as an endearing "F me? F you too!”

It said youre forgiven and had AJ Brown's name in large font, with crossed off names- Reagor, JJAW, and someone else.

Howie took issue with the Youre Forgiven part.
