People forget the practice squad is exactly that - it's not just a place to stash prospects for seasoning, it's also the guys who populate the scout team that helps prepare the starters for each week's opponents. So you want to be able to imitate different styles of QBs, etc.

Side note, for just getting into smoking, or looking to do more. I suggest these. https://www.thermoworks.com/smokex4/?quantity=1&color=7&gclid=CjwKCAjwsMGYBhAEEiwAGUXJadzinzlfSGeIvp8miC5xiChBe_pUaNugyWVqwFljbKY_KE_ehOFGORoC4QoQAvD_BwE

they go on sale all the time. I think I paid 139ish  2 black fridays ago. WELL WORTH IT

I got one of those for Christmas last year, real handy when doing long smokes like brisket.

I would have to think they would add a RB if they don't think he's going to be available week one.

Practice Squad players can be poached by another team for their 53-man roster though.  @HazletonEagle may still get his wish.

I actually have the Lions being the 7 seed.

They might improve (if only because it's hard to get worse than an 0-10-1 start) but ahead of 9 other teams? Two of their top 3 draft picks are injured as of now, their free agency was a whole bowl of meh, where's the improvement coming from?

Their 'improvement' down the stretch last year was beating up on chokers and a Packers team that played starters for a half.

They lost a lot of close, 1 score games. That should regress to the mean. Their o-line is much better. I think Williams will provide a nice boost in the 2nd half. Amon-Ra came on strong last year's 2nd half. I like Swift/Williams. Goff is Ok, not great, but ok enough. And the NFC in general is just so weak.

People who discourage cooking/smoking are idiots.

I had a stick smoker. Like watch the fire for hours. great results but I just didnt have the time. Switched to an electric, loved it, did a great job but it just wasnt big enough. At this point the Pellet technology had grown so much that I went with the Pit boss instead of a large electric.

I did a 14lb brisket in about 20 degree weather, wind whipping last year and all I did different was shovel the snow and threw a moving blanket on top to help the insulation.

Yup that's the one downside of my electric is it's not as big as some but I rarely do a ton of meat.

We've done some good sized brisket in there a few times 14 pounds though that's a beast, feed you for at least a week😉

Yep. Briskets and when I do beer can chicken. Thanksgiving Turkey always gets it. Pulled Pork. I probably use it a couple dozen times a year and it makes thing so easy it's almost cheating

Yup it was a big help with our last brisket, which I think was about  15 hours???

They have a lot of doo dad's these days that take alot of the guess work out but sure does result in better cooked meat and less time attending to ones smoke.

Now im hungry, I got a couple racks in the freezer I'm going to pull and smoke this weekend.

We usually get our ribs from Costco, best price good quality.

Didnt need, or want to go that big but my butcher gave me a deal on it. After trim it was probably 11ish.

but it was for 7-8 drunks I play hockey with so we did a lot of damage on it and I'll tell you the best cooking secret ever.

Left over brisket Chilli. It's unFingreal how good it is

My girls the ones who love the wings love it when I put left over brisket in their Mac n cheese

We've done brisket chili before as well, good stuff.

Ive got a bunch of country style pork ribs(shoulder) in the freezer have no idea what to do with them, got them cuz they were in sale.

I was thinking mabey smokin em with a Mexican rub and maybe doing pork Verde but never tried it.

I'm up for any suggestions from the blog of what to do with them???

So what is everyone’s Super Bowl picks? I actually have a tougher time picking the NFC then I do the AFC. I just think it’s buffalo’s time in the AFC. I think the loss to the Chiefs in the playoffs is going to motivate them and stick with them all year to prove a point. And I just really love the roster. And I think they’re gonna get home-field advantage which is good I mean a lot in the playoffs

in the NFC I just have a feeling that one of the Rams or Bucs are not going to be there at the end. I think there’s gonna be some sort of team we didn’t expect in the NFC championship game against one of those two teams. I’d probably take tampa due to the Brady factor and Stafford having an elbow concern and hard to repeat.

so i have Buffalo and tampa which is likely the two Vegas favorites.

Hurts will be the RB

Joking aside I hope that's just Nick trying to be competitive for week 1

Huh so we have an unfilled open spot?  Intriguing but I'm guessing it'll be a boring vet signing

Durham is fine.  Just don't go down Holloway Street.

Not a jersey number guy but bleh...

Sanders being so soft has got to open the door for Trey Sermon to come in here. It made no sense when Shanahan drafted him, and it's not surprising he didn't work out there. He could easily fill the Jordan Howard role here.

All that being said....I expect the announcement that we've re-signed Jordan Howard again any minute now

My guess is RB, although I wouldn't mind another EDGE or Safety either

Yup.  Feels wrong on someone else.  But that's the team I grew up watching so I'm probably overly sentimental.

Yeah it's also 14 years old and I've wanted one for a bit and the wife gave me the ok.

I made the mistake of repairing the same grill. The damn thing worked for another 5 years and I couldn't get a new shiny one.

I agree with you a 1000%

People think of the lions that we rolled by 40 points or whatever.

They were a great team to bet last year cause the public(who are dumb) thought they were gonna get blown out but they kept almost eveyr game close. So I watched a good amount of lions games.

They should of beat the Ravens and the Vikings. They played the Rams really tough. Tied the Steelers, Beat the Vikings the 2nd time.

7th seed is going to be cutting it close, but yes, i think they're headed into week 17-18 fighting for a playoff spot

They have a good O-line. I think they have too many questions on defense.  That being said, I don't think the Eagles are going to blow them out like last season.  They are definitely better than the Bears.  They will have to get lucky to do better than the Vikings.
