All QBs are made captain. I think it was Tua or Kyler last year who weren’t and it was a big deal.

You don’t think the Saints can hang with Detroit? Their D is pretty stout and they hugely upgraded the WR and RB rooms. Is it contingent on Jameis’ health?

No. I have no respect for Dennis Allen as a head coach. I think the drop off from Payton will be steep and significant.

This is my post from January, and its still 100% true today:

Gainwell is better than Miles Sanders right now, today. How about we actually play him at his natural position and let him be successful next year?

This is honestly my biggest frustration with this years team, the f'ing charade to soothe our FOs ego:

Minshew better than Hurts but we have to pretend Hurts is the future.

We have to pretend Sanders is some stud RB.  He isnt.

Lets pretend Reagor isnt an embarrassment, keep him out there even if the playoffs.

Lets pretend Barnett is a legit DE and not a consistent detriment.

I understand not having a full deck but we got away from making decisions based on giving us the best chance to win and instead made them based on the feelings and egos.

He might be.  It's sad that I'm not sure I like any of the backs we have to be a guy I want to give the ball to 15 times a game.    Sanders has all the skill in the world, but can't stay healthy at roughly that number.  Gainwell is rather small.  Scott is just ok in short stretches, but I think if he got more touches, he'd wear down more and be less effective overall.   And... I do miss having some bigger powerful backs.  The 2017 stable was really my cup of tea.

For our first round pick I hope you’re right. I think the biggest change will be Jameis himself; he played like a completely different person last year and I think that was Payton’s doing.

I just don't like him at the 4i being lined up over a tackle.  I know he's more in the G/T gap but I just would prefer him more inside.

If he lines up more inside he's going to infringe on the space Davis occupies. The idea of the dominant nose tackle is to require a double-team and give the 4i DT one-on-one against the OT. Further, by pressuring  the inside shoulder of the OT, he frees up the rush DE/LB on his side. That OT is isolated. If he turns out, the 4i DT has a lane into the backfield; if he turns in, it's the DE who has the lane. If the offense moves a TE over to help with the DE, that's generally a mismatch, especially in pass protection.

Who’s panicking? You trust him to stay healthy?

Clearly I was referencing his availability for week 1, not his health for the entire season.

Pete Carmichael is still in place, and has been the offensive coordinator for 14 years.

Does Amazon have it and through the EMB link?

Looks like the Austin XL model is exclusive to Walmart.  Amazon has the accessories for it.

We still have one open roster spot and one open practice squad spot. I'm guessing they are waiting to see if Taylor clears first for the PS and then whatever they do for the roster. Probably someone new, it wouldn't make a ton of sense to move up Covey/Allen/Cain at this point.

Taylor to the PS makes sense.  Still real talented, just doesn't know how to play football unfortunately.  With the Miles Sanders injury I'm guessing the last slot goes to a boring plodding veteran RB ala Jordan Howard, Wayne Gallman, Latavius Murray etc.

It makes zero sense.   I mean, the kid must be a total head case on the order of Jeff George or worse, Ryan Leaf to get black balled like he did by this team after they gave him that huge signing bonus.   Makes zero sense.   No other team seems to be hot on his trail either from the appearance of things.   He might end up in the CFL and light it up.  Bigger field, more open space... his big arm will likely fit in great up there.

Heck even Jeff George got plenty of chances.

Like I said the whole thing seems fishy, things dont add up.

Maybe he slept with Siriannis wife, what ever he did the eagles dud him dirty and he's at face value handled it well.

Don’t worry.  Winston will be the rock for Allen to lean on.

Captain is really just recognition of positional respect or tenure. Not being a captain in no way impedes a players’ leadership capabilities.

A lot of teams’ biggest vocal leaders are not even their star players

That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying captains are the most respected leaders, not the best players

Wasn’t WENTZ and Hurts a captain their first years as starters?  What does experience and age have to do with it?   The whole thing is dumb really.

It's voted on by the players

They should poll the blog.

Alex Singleton and Craig James have been captains for us recently.  I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

Does anyone know the stat requirements for the pick from the Reagor trade ?

It's honestly not the worst bet to make because the NFC stinks and our schedule is pretty easy IMO. But then again everything rides on Hurts, Sirianni, & Gannon. So I would never make that bet.

Reagor can't go on social media for a full year

No, they are not.

That would not surprise me at all.  What do you think he would get as value in return in a trade?  And will Minshew's trade value increase as the season progresses and injuries happen?

IMO there is no way the Eagles would (should) trade Minshew when they're starting a running QB every Sunday.  Any playoff aspirations would go up in smoke with Reid Sinnett and Ian Book leading the offense.  I would put the O/U for Hurts at 2 games missed to injury this season.  He runs to contact.

I would smash the over hard and often

And people wonder how they are able to pay for such things.........................

Yeah, just a bad year for it. They likely win the NFC East, but do they even get third in the AFC West?

Right now, I would handicap that division:

1)  Chiefs

2)  Chargers

3)  Broncos

4)  Raiders

Three teams make the playoffs, and the Raiders don't get a backdoor entry this time.

Exactly, we only need two things to win a Super Bowl.

Jalen Hurts gets hurt running and is done for the year.

RTK declares the season over the moment Jalen Hurts was injured.

The rest will be history.
