Not make the same mistake they made after 2018.

I see them trading away Hurts and bringing back Foles as the starter.

As it should always have been.

You are only playing 3d chess.  Howie is much more far sighted.  After the Hurts injury, he signs him to a big contract.  We suffer for 3 seasons of terrible drafting and an underperforming team.  In the 2025, we draft Gunner Stockton who is benched for Brock Vandagraff in the 2024 National Championship game and then transfers to UNC for his senior season.  Hurts gets benched in the 2025 season for Stockton who can't run and is knocking receivers over because he has no touch on his passes.  2026 kind of stinks but the team makes the playoffs.  They trade for Marvin Harrison Jr in 2027.  Roseman takes credit for another Super Bowl win in 2028.

Watch the stock market rally if/when Republicans win seats, and then come crashing down further after layoffs start.

Wall St. likes gridlock in Washington. The theory goes that if nothing gets done then that removes uncertainty.

The Fed wants to cool off the labor market and the economy as a whole to lower inflation. Layoffs would be a sign that their policy is working.  Stock market could interpret that either way (lower inflation vs recession).

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Raising interest rates won't solve the supply chain issues in China and Russia/Ukraine.  Layoffs won't stop corporate price gouging.

That would get us into the catbird seat for either the top position player or a QB to be dealt… the 2018 scenario you provided could go a long way in replacing the 2017 era players (assuming an above par hit rate).

Indeed it could.  On that subject there are two ways to accomplish a Draft trade.  The more frequent method is to exchange the picks, which has the risk that subsequent to the trade another team executes a second trade that leaps over the Eagles at the new lower Draft pick and takes the player the Eagles want.  The second, less frequently used, method is to pre agree between the trading teams on the players each team wants to Draft.  The trade is agreed upon, but the team with the earlier pick selects the player the lower pick team wants (in this example lets say it is Anderson),and holds on to the player until their trading partner has made their pick (in this example lets say it is Jalen Carter) and then the trade is made.  If the agreed on player the Eagles want is no longer available when the trade partner team picks, then the trade is voided and the Eagles keep the player they chose, in this example, Anderson.

Using the historical examples, here's three questions for everyone:

(1) Would you take the trade of #3 (Will Anderson) for #6 (Jalen Carter) plus two 2nd Round picks in 2023 (#37 and #49 in the 2018 example)_ and a 2nd Round pick in 2024?

(2) Would you take the trade of #4 (Will Anderson) for #6 (Jalen Carter) plus a second late 1st Round pick this year (#28 in the 1992 example)?

(3) Would you take the trade of #4 (Will Anderson) for #9 (Myles Murphy - Edge or Joey Porter - CB are possibilities) plus an extra 1st Round pick in 2024 and a 4th Round pick in 2024 (the 2014 example)

I agree.  Most of the inflation has been from the supply side and geopolitical.  The Fed made a huge policy mistake believing inflation was transitory.  Now, all they have to fix it is raising rates and liquidating the balance sheet.

I think Carter ends up the better pro.  I love Will Anderson.  There's nothing not to like about him as a player and a person.  I also want young talent at edge in the worst way.  The Eagles have nothing in terms of up and coming, young talent at DE.  Anderson isn't a DE though.  He's a 6-4, 240lb stand up pass rusher with little to no coverage skills.  I think for him to flourish in the NFL, he needs to go to a predominately 3-4 team like Baltimore or Pittsburgh. 2021 Will Anderson looked to be better than 2022 Will Anderson but Bama isn't Bama this year either and he isn't playing bad at all, just not flashing every series like it seemed last year.  There have been games this year you want him to take over like last year and he just isn't.

Who knows what the Eagles will be doing on defense next year and I know, you draft top talent, not talent to fit a scheme.  Reddick is playing at a high level in this scheme and even his coverage has been more than expected.  Was it against the Texans he made that great PBU?  Last year, Will Anderson in college has no PBU, no INT and QBR against him was over 100.  He had a pick 6 this year but that was off a bobbled screen pass and he was just in the right place at the right time.  It wasn't the result in his coverage abilities.

Jalen Carter is dominant and would thrive in any scheme.  He can play inside in a 4-3 but he would be a very stout DE in a 3-4.  I think he offers more position flexibility.  My concerns with Carter is he doesn't fill stat sheets at all.  For as dominant as he is, he has 4 sacks over 3 years at Georgia, all while being surrounded by elite players.

Both are going to be tremendous NFL players.  I would LOVE if the Eagles get Will Anderson.  Having Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Marlon Tuipulotu and Milton Williams would be a tremendous interior DL.

I agree that would be a tremendous interior DL.  But don't go to sleep on Noah Elliss.  He could be part of that mix as well.

• Eagles waive DT Noah Elliss with a non-football injury

The Eagles have waived defensive tackle Noah Elliss due to a non-football injury. Ellis was signed as an undrafted rookie in 2022. He is the brother of Eagles linebacker Christian Elliss, who was signed as a free agent in 2021.

Historically this team has been about having a strong interior pass rush with rotating run defenders. We have the stout run defender in Jordan, and maybe Tuipulotu can get to be a nice rotational guy. Cox and Hargrave are aging, and I don't see us resigning both. Much as it pains me, Hargrave is the smarter choice to resign if only doing 1. That makes DT a sneaky need. I'd be thrilled with Carter, but the more I think about this draft, the more I want us to be in a scenario where a QB needy team is willing to do a big deal if we have a top 10 pick and moving down...

The three traded scenarios I listed in my post above listed Will Anderson as available to the Eagles at the time they pick either #3 or #4; however, any of the three trade scenarios could well end up being with a QB needy team that doesn't actually pick Anderson.  I chose to list Anderson in the examples because that was the "value" the Eagles would be giving up.

Eagles vs Saints week 16, assuming they have everything locked up at that point (first round bye/homefield). Do you play the starters to beat the Saints for the higher draft pick?

Absolutely ... until there is enough of a lead to sub in the 2nd string players.  if there was ever a game to run up the score early, thast is the game.

No talking politics here- but, if you think spending BILLIONS of money the government doesn't have (printing Billions) has little to do with inflation, then you should not be allowed to vote.

Dumb...politicians have little to do with any of those things.  Central bankers (Jerome Powell), Putin's ridiculous war and the Saudis have driven WORLDWIDE INFLATION.

Can't take 3 weeks off (week 17, week 18, bye) before a playoff game. Even if we clinch 1st, I'd want to play the Saints.

Good kid.  Dean hasn't done much this year but he seems like a team player who is willing to help out with whatever is asked of him.  Like his maturity

We'll see how things progress but Walker has been in an absolute tear. Plus I don't trust the Saints or Jets passing offense enough to produce a WR ROY.

Breece Hall would have won without the injury.

Layoffs started in certain industries months ago, i.e. mortgage industry, tech, etc.

Four horse race, with Pierce in the lead thus far...Pierce, Walker, Olave, Wilson. But Walker is gaining ground quickly.

Breece Hall = Round: 2 / Pick: 36

Dameon Pierce = 2022 / Round: 4 / Pick: 107

That should answer the questions that fans have about extending Miles Sanders.  In a straight up ranking how would you rank Hall, Pierce and Sanders?

FYP, and I would take all of the over Sanders.

One the many horrible picks by Howie.

Davis is hardly on the field.  Jurgens best play was lining up as a WR.  Dean runs around doing nothing on STs.  Who cares about the other two.

Only five guys and they all suck.  Imagine what our record would be if Howie could draft.
