You can not imagine how disappointed I am that today is not Saturday. I thought today was Saturday. My kids had an early dismissal yesterday, and are off school today for veterans day. With them being off school, Ive been thinking it was Saturday.

Had my dog out this morning. Saw a worm in his crap. Took that to the vet to get him medicine. Been vacuuming the house like a nut. Washing our bed covers, blankes on the couch where he lays, etc.

Finally thought I was going to sit down and put on a college game.

And what do you know? Its Fing Friday.

The details are different, but I had much the same experience today.

I'm a yankee fan.

A Yankees fan experience is the arrogance of having 27 World Series and being the constant center of attention of all baseball media.

So why did you choose the Eagles, who no one cares about outside of a small region, and never won a Super Bowl until a few years ago?

The two don't match up.

Im not sure its the peak, because he is so new to the position in the NFL. There is likely a lot of room for improvement. And its nice to have one ballhawk in the deep half of the secondary, which he can continue to be. Theres also a lot written on how he opens up various coverage schemes with his ability to cover TEs, and anyone else in the slot.

He is a weak tackler. But whereas you think the flash plays blind everyone to the negatives with him, I see it as the opposite. I think the one negative is his tackling whereas there is enough good with him to outweigh the bad.

If they do let him go, I hope the draft Ji'ayir Brown from PSU.

I should have also added the Epps equation into my OP. Would you sign him + CJGJ? I'm not sure Howie does both. I think Epps can be signed for much cheaper and be at a price point that's more relative to expectations. I really think CJGJ is going to want to start negotiations around the Marcus Williams deal and will want around Top 5/Top 10 at worst. I also think they will want to pay the homegrown guy that worked his way from PS to Starter.

Seems like they will be without Maddox on Monday

. Are we ready for his defense at 1B?

Can Harper actually come back and throw?  Or will he be a potential option at 1B?

I know this is probably been discussed To the point of nausea But I’ve been away from the boards for a while and I was just wondering how does the board now feel about Jalen Hurts?

Cause for me Im still on the fence I think Shane Steichen Has done a hell of a job schematically playing to Jalen hurts strengths But Is this RPO Offense going to be able to sustain itself in the long run?

I committed before the season that I was going to let the entire season play out before making a definitive judgement on Hurts.

I’m sticking to it, but his play is becoming more undeniable by the week.

And yes, I do believe this offense has long term sticking power.

Also seems like they will be without Young on Monday.

don't want to bore you with my whole life story but I live in NY born and raised there. When my dad was younger and when the Eagles were in the super bowl against the Raiders, that's who he went with. As a kid when your team is in the super bowl you think it's the greatest thing ever. His brother and dad grew up Giant fans but wanted to be different and picked the Eagles. Best thing he ever did.

I definietly want to keep Epps. They complement eachother great. Epps is stronger in run support, blowing up screens, and some 2 high coverage ability in zone. Pretty much text book SS. Who isnt just a box SS. Really like him. Can do a little of everything except maybe man coverage.

Gardner-Johnson is the typical FS. Playmaker in coverage. Whether its man, or 2 deep, its great to have him roaming around back there. Never know when hes going to turn up with the ball.

I think theyll keep both. Both are fairly young, ascending players in their position.

Here's my unpopular opinion.

CJGJ is the perfect one and done and the Eagles should thank him while holding the door open for him to walk.

First, the compensation given to acquire him is perfectly fine for a one year rental. And while you can't always rely on a comp pick, I think it's possible the Eagles could recoup the 5th given up for him. It's possible if he gets the equivalent of the Marcus Williams deal ($14M APY, currently 9th among Safety salaries) he would net a 4th round comp pick. Again, cant rely on it, but the scenario is there where the Eagles traded away essentially nothing for him.

Second, I think he's entering the territory that Trevon Diggs was in last year. The interceptions are nice, highlight plays, but they are overrating the overall play of the person. This is not to say he's playing horribly, but there are flaws (run defense) that are getting brushed under the rug. Interceptions, in my opinion, also will fluctuate wildly. It's like being on a heater playing Blackjack. He's had 5 interceptions his whole career entering the year (46 games) and already has 5 interceptions this year (8 games). I fully expect that he will regress in this area in the future.

Third, we all know he's a bit of headcase. He's in a contract year so I think he's playing nice for the time being. Also, they are 8-0, which helps. If he's not getting his INT's and the team is losing, I think more of his ugly side will rear it's head. I also think it's interesting that Bo Wulf said he was an ass the first week he was here, but has gotten better.

TL/DR: This is the absolute peak of CJGJ as a person and player. We know he wants to get paid because he was causing problems in NO over getting paid and wanted to switch to S from Nickel CB to get paid. So if you want to sign him, it's probably going to be at a premium. And I don't think he will be worth it in the long run.

I don’t think he’s peaked, but the interceptions have certainly clouded people’s view of him. He still takes bad angles and is a poor tackler for a safety. I hope to see improvement in those areas over the next month or two because I believe he has even more of a ceiling than he’s shown.

The character aspect is tough for us to get a handle on from the outside.

I am upset if Josh Allen doesnt play against the Vikings. Id really like to see the Vikings lose and give ups a little room for error in the race to 1st seed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose either way.

they are. which also annoys me that they keep winning.

But theyve improved with the trades theyve made. I feel like they can beat the bills without a QB.

Yeah, they can, because the Bills have also been flimsy at times.

I guess Minnesota just doesn’t really concern me much either way.

Hate so say it, but Dallas is my biggest concern.

Peaked was probably a poor choice of words. I mean more he’s playing at the highest level he can right now when he’s about to get paid.

Dallas is much more of a concern given the tie-breakers

I don’t think that’s true either. The interceptions obviously make it look like he’s playing at his highest level, but he has some regular safety plays that he needs to start doing more regularly. I’m impressed that he’s taking advantage of tipped passes or poorly thrown passes because the QB is hit/under pressure. I want to see him make good coverage plays. I want to see better angles. I want to see improved tackling.

I think those are all things that can or should get better with more time at the position and in our scheme.
