No, I was totally serious.  I knew who Hurts was, but didn't have the foggiest idea who the other two were.  I probably haven't seen either of them for over 10 years.

Agreed 100%.  That is the challenge Howie will have to handle when it comes time for negotiations.  I trust Howie explicitly.

My bias is clear.  I want all 5 of the DBs on the 2023 Eagles ... Epps, CGJ, Slay, Bradberry, and Maddox.  Howie needs to get it done.

If we could keep the secondary intact I would be absolutely on board. I just think there are too many FA’s elsewhere that will need to be re-signed as well that Howie likely will have to diversify where the money goes.

What is the deadline for when we can extend a player this season or has it already passed?

Surprised Howie hasn't locked up anyone who might be more of a bargain early on like Edwards or Epps.

Feels like bradberry will be too expensive. Draft a cb

resign the safties

not sure what white will cost but let edwards go

draft a DE

There are 9 NFL QBs getting paid an AAV of $40M+.  The most recent contracts are Russell Wilson at $49M and Kyler Murray at $46M.

How does anyone think Hurts would sign an extension for less than $45M per year, especially if the Eagles win even one playoff round this season?  The union isn’t going to allow him to reset the QB market downward.

The Eagles essentially have three choices.  Sign him to a 4-year extension near the top of the QB market after this season as they did with Wentz, make him play out his rookie contract and attempt to negotiate an extension, perhaps franchise tag him (likely even more expensive a year later), or decide he’s not their future and trade him (looking extremely unlikely right now)

Whether it's scouts or Howie, they haven't been able to draft and develop a Slay type of corner in years. Have all been FA's, and that's fine. Guess Howie will have to snag one from someone else's roster for cheap. Or hire a Stoutland version of CB coach and let em develop mid rounders into superstars.

Depending on how the playoffs go for Hurts / Eagles, I’d probably wait until middle of next season to sign him long term.

If he goes to, or wins, the SB, and looks great doing it, then go ahead this off season.

Otherwise, just wait and see how he plays for the first part of next year to make sure he doesn’t flame out.

Interesting you mention Slay, because he was drafted by DET the pick after the Eagles drafted Zach Ertz with their 2nd round pick.  The Eagles typically don’t draft CB early — they use 1st round picks on QB, DL, OL, WR mostly.

I generally agree but you are taking a risk with what happens to Lamar Jackson. If he is able to get his deal and get it fully guaranteed like he wants, the price and structure for Hurts goes up. If the plan is to extend him, I think Howie would want to get it done before Lamar.

CB is a gamble early in draft unless teams do all their homework (Eagles didn't do their homework with Sidney Jones).

Interesting development. Per Hunt, DUM denies allegations made today by mod6.

Is the allegation that DUM, 4for4, and RTK are roommates and/or all the same person?

I've been trying to figure out why that photo makes me happy. Not sure why but it does. Looking at Vick, can't believe how he could throw the ball so effortlessly, McNabb is McChunky Soup and that's always funny and Hurts has shown up. Randall in the photo would have rounded it out.

I thought McNabb had already rounded it out...   Hey Oh!

I haven’t seen Randall Cunningham over a period longer than that but I’m 100% sure I could point him out in a picture. Mail your fan card back into the Linc please.

He has to have face blindness. Neither confirmed or denied yet

Negative.       If he plays well and stays healthy and earns the respect of the locker room throughout the season then you sign him to a nice contract and get that very portant position locked down

You don't have to win a Superbowl to get a contract as a QB or any other player for that matter.

Cheap ****

They actually did their homework, and took a calculated injury risk.  It didn’t work on him, but the same approach worked well in the Sweat and Dickerson situations.

If Randall had gained 50+ pounds I’m not sure you could.  Randall was rather unique looking so I don’t think he is a comparable. I would probably recognize him.  How about Shawn Andrew’s or Tra Thomas or Shady McCoy?  Or Tommy McDonald?

Sidney Jones was cupcake soft. He doesn't belong in the NFL.

Sweat and Dickerson aren't corners, apples and oranges.

CGJ is very much an incomplete evaluation. He missed all of training camp and pre-season. He's played 8 games in a very different scheme than what he played in New Orleans AND he changed positions.

There's a real chance he's much better in the 2nd half of the season.

The dude has been playing Safety for only 4 games and already has the most interceptions in the league. incomplete, sure. But at a minimum, an A- so far.

8 games.

And no offseason to learn it. He went through all of camp as a CB in a different teams defense.

New D, new position, and no time to practice it. Hit the ground running in week 1 as a new safety in a new defense.

There should be no doubt, he has a long way to grow in this role.

However, his tackling is extremely unlikely to improve. That will always be a weakness.

Will the rest of his game be enough to live with the weak tackling? Early returns say yes. If he is already ballhawking this well, with so much yet to learn about the position. Its looking really, really promising.
