Yeah. You can use the steps behind them as a measuring line. McNabb’s mouth is higher than Hurts’. I’d guess he’s about an inch taller. And it’s obvious that Vick is a lot shorter.

I was scrolling through this thread trying to catch up and I saw folks talking about the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade and potential extension.  Something hit me, but it may have been talked about because, well, I can't keep up with you nerds.  By trading for him, was there a bit of (un)intentional game theory being played out?

There are many times were a single play can win or lose a game and CJGJ is a turnover machine.  By trading some modest picks for him, you open up the chance that if he were on the Saint's squad, he could have made a play to win an otherwise close loss.  With the extra L on the board, that moves the pick the eagles own up higher in the first round which has a greater value than the picks surrendered.

Honestly, I think you are digging too deep on this one.  CGJ was available, could help this team, so Howie pounced.   I doubt there was much to that in terms of how it would impact the Saints.  Maybe ever so slightly was something like this in the back of Howie's mind, like taking from the Saints rather than the Panthers, I suppose... but trades should never be made (or any more for that matter) in an effort to diminish your opponents' chances of winning, only to improve your own team's chances of winning.

No doubt that was the main motive.  But hell, if it was a calculated risk; throwing draft capital that is acceptable for a one year rental that could be a lottery ticket to increase another pick, I am on board with that line of thinking.

I think they missed on his ability to add strength. His coverage was fine but his health and lack of strength were killers.  Maddox and Scott have similar weight, although shorter so more compact but Jones always played like a 20 pound weakling.  I don’t know if it was lack of commitment or a real inability to add strength.

Don’t get me wrong, I do see progress from Hurts, but part of that goes to the receivers he has.  Smith is an elite route runner.  Brown is pretty good at routes but his tracking and timing of his reaction towards the ball is unique.  Top 5 TE.  A slot whose speed helps open up the secondary, although they do need to target him some more.  Pascal runs great routes and is an elite blocker.  The supporting cast helps Hurts so much.  He needs to realize that and make sure his demands don’t shrink the team talent.
