I think they missed on his ability to add strength. His coverage was fine but his health and lack of strength were killers.  Maddox and Scott have similar weight, although shorter so more compact but Jones always played like a 20 pound weakling.  I don’t know if it was lack of commitment or a real inability to add strength.

With 20/20 hindsight I think it was both, and thet both were amplified by a fear of getting injured again.

Downside to waiting to extend him is the price will only go up.  We saw that with Dallas and Dak.  Downside if they extend him is he falls off a cliff like Wentz did but they were still able to move on from him and recover even with that cap hit to be possibly better than ever before ultimately today.  So it won't destroy you if you sign him and something happens but if you wait you will just be paying a higher rate.  He wins MVP and/or Super Bowl and you pretty much have to extend him.

That decision (extend or not) will be based on his on-field play, not his awards...

This a business, not an MTV Awards show. If he proves out to be a guy we can rally around, playoffs, etc, yeah, he should get a nice deal to stay. Going rate for QB1 is what it is. Earn it, get it. No problem with that.

Trust the Howie to make it so, if that be the case....

Winning the Super Bowl and/or MVP would be because of his on field play though

Yup...and I think the decision has to be this year. The Eagles have too many loose ends going into the offseason as far as free agents. All future decisions are going to be tied to the Hurts situation.

I still think the NFL has a problem based on the rapid increase in positional salaries. How are teams supposed to field a competitive team when they have players at QB, LT, WR etc. playing at the going rate. The product this year has been so diluted for so many teams.

No doubt that was the main motive.  But hell, if it was a calculated risk; throwing draft capital that is acceptable for a one year rental that could be a lottery ticket to increase another pick, I am on board with that line of thinking.

And I over value draft picks.

Someone suggested the same thing with regards to a Kamara trade weeks ago.

Trading a fairly high pick for him was equivalent to trading up with the saints pick.  Like if they were going to be, say pick 7 and without him helping them win a few games it ends up being pick 3... that factors in to the value of what you have up for him.

Ultimately,  still a bad idea considering the player.  But solid theory.

You could look at Chauncey the same way. They could have really used him this season

Haha... so I got the letter back from my insurance company about my denied MRI. They listed the reason. They said "Reason listed for MRI order: dizziness. We have concluded that reason alone is not sufficient for an MRI. If your dizziness has room spinning symptoms or some hearing loss, etc" and listed a bunch of things that would make it sufficient. Which is hogwash, my doctor documented like 10+ symptoms I've been dealing with, all listed in this letter. So basically my insurance company didn't read crap. Or they did, but lied and hoped I wouldn't appeal so they don't have to pay.

I've noticed that this has been going around too. I have a relative who got kicked off disability last year. They have a very serious chronic illness and they were booted off because "we reviewed your medical history and decided you are no longer ill" and they were incredulous. Turns out they for some reason either ignored all their hospital and doctor's visits over or just disingenuously focused on one doctor's visit where it was a routine checkup and wasn't with their specialist. They got back on after appealing, but still, annoying.

Man, everyone's looking to F you over at every turn. I gotta start documenting everything now just in case.

Shouldn't be too hard to get this overturned. I have an appt next week, coincidentally on the last day of my peer to peer window. Hopefully they do it then that day.

Maybe I end up being wrong, but a 30-year-old OBJ coming off a twice torn ACL to the same knee doesn’t scare me at all.

I think it’s going to come down to who gives him the most money. If it’s even across the board i wouldn’t be surprised if he goes and plays with von Miller in Buffalo or return back to NY Giants. Last year he took his salary in Bitcoin so I’m guessing monetarily he’d take the most money offered to him which likely could be Dallas cause i think Dallas is dumb enough to overpay a WR returning from his second acl in less than a year’s time.

If the Cowboys are pinning their hopes on adding him, they are pretty desperate.

I am actually surprised the ravens are not more involved in this considering Bateman is done for the year. DeSean can’t stay healthy. Lamar is throwing to Duvernay and Robinson. Mark Andrews is dealing with injuries as well. He would have a role with that all offense much bigger than any place else he’d go. why I have a feeling this is always going to come down to who pays him the most.  winning is second when all the teams he’s considering are currently good besides the packers.

Hurts is a little taller than Don, a little surprised by that.

The three of them are being interviewed together for MNF. Looking forward to it.

Love it.  Looks like a Family Photo.   Donovan would be the Dad, Vick the Uncle and Jalen the Son.  LOL.  They're all rockin the goatee too.

Him going to either of those teams would not be good.  Hopefully he goes to a team like Baltimore in the AFC.
