Well this is the thing. They need to now address it rather than talk about getting better etc. For 8 wins Hurts talked about not playing to the standard and leaving points out there etc. Now they have a loss and they need to not talk about it but go out there and do it.

Doesn't matter.  This one loss is the window into what this team really is.

A clumsy, poorly-coached collection of soft players who can't tackle, stay on the field, or avoid boneheaded penalties.

While I understand the sentiment, the poor tackling and soft run defense have been there for us all to see for much of the season. We got big leads and faced bad QBs to mask it.

Think about this: In a game where just about everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong - We were still in it up until 1:50 and it took our most experienced veteran on the D Line making a mistake he wouldn’t make 9 out of 10 times to seal the loss.

Granted Washington brought their A game and they deserve respect for that - we win this game 9 out of 10 times if we get half the calls and eliminate a mistake or two.

I don't like you sober :-)

Right now I'm not feeling good about that one. In a day or two I may change my mind on it but right now I think we lose that. But that's after a loss to a bad team.

Their tackling has been a problem since week one. Really only game where they actually tackled really well was week 2 and 3 against the Vikings and jags. Even in the Cardinals game that they weren’t good. dallas got back in that game because of Poor tackling against the run particularly zeke. The Texans game run defense and tackling was also poor the first half. It caught up to them tonight. We can get either continue to keep overlooking it cause we are 8-1 or accept the fact their run defense and tackling needs to be better.

i didn’t even start ST who’s DVOA after tonight might wind up being bottom 5 in the league.

They actually tackled pretty well today.  The longest run was 11 yards.  The frustration would come from the consistent 1-2 yards after the runner gets wrapped up.

That’s part of tackling though.

Now that it's more relevant...here is the Vikings remaining schedule.  There are potential losses there.  Assuming MIN is capable of losing a one-score game.

Give us another day or two bud and we will be back on the train and we will be back ready to kick ass. Losses are hard to take especially to a division rival and a bad team.

So we are rooting for the cowgirls next week?

They stole our "push the ball carrier" tactic

Agreed.  But, unlike last week, the RB wasn't consistently getting to the second level.  What we didn't do is get some TFLs to put them behind the chains.

Fortunatley Brian Robinson is really slow.

I’m not. I can’t pull for Dallas. I’ll accept that it helps us if they win, but I just can’t pull for Dallas.

I'm just going to let this bottle of Eagle Rare run its course

Tough call. I'm right there with you. I'm rooting against both teams

Are we playing or posting on a blog?  The refs aren’t the reason the Eagles lost. They could not stop the Redskins on third down. They had 5 turnovers that were for the most part unforced errors.  It was a team loss. The refs made some bad calls including the PI that Smith got.

Yeah, I’m not disagreeing. I’m saying Graham’s was a penalty.

I mean who was available? I can’t blame Howie when Gannon doesn’t know how to move 8 men into the box.

Both things can be true, but I just don't see the wisdom in not having a backup for a position that's obviously super important to this defense. Shouldn't be that hard to find a 330 lb 1st down run plug.

Yeah. We miss tackles and too often give up extra yardage even when we do make the tackle.

I didn’t come away from this game feeling good about the tackling.

That one play by Claypool a few weeks back ended up being a sign of things to come. Runners are just dragging piles of our defenders for extra yardage.

Did Robert Quinn play at all?

He’s been invisible since the trade.

Tbh the tackling felt similar game to the cardinals where we missed some tackles (brown td) and gave up extra yards even when we make the tackles. I felt the same way after that cardinals game and in the second half against Dallas. It’s the same reoccurring issue  the difference is we won those games so we can gloss over it more.

I think another issue that’s rearing its head right now is the last three weeks gannon and his defense have not looked good in the first half. And take way too long to finally make some adjustments. Its taken them until halftime to figure it out and finally adjust. This game is an example you can’t just wait til halftime to make an adjustment cause it’ll eventually catch up to you. First half the defense was abysmal. second half gave up 2 field goals and one of them was due to goedert’s fumble.
