Just gotta get this sheet fixed.

There is no playoff run playing like they did tonight.

Couldn't agree more. I saw the other day we have a 99% chance of making the play offs. That should be pretty much secured but they still need to finish the job that they started.

The 'Wrong Thing To Blame' Award : The Eagles' run defense

The 'Right Thing To Blame' Award 🛎️: The Eagles' third down defense

every 3rd down the commanders had

3rd and 5

3rd and 1

3rd and 4

3rd and 2

3rd and 2

3rd and 8

3rd and 1

3rd and 1

3rd and 6

3rd and 5

3rd and 10

3rd and 2

3rd and 10 = fg

3rd and 1

3rd and 1

3rd and 1

3rd and goal (3)

3rd and 3

3rd and 12

3rd and 14

3rd and 7

3rd and 8

So 12 of the 22 (really 20 as commanders kicked FG on one and then end of game they kneeled) of third downs were 3rd and 4 or less. Also they gave up 9 first downs on those 3rd and less than 4. Which was 75% conversion.  3rd and 5+ meanwhile they held them on 7 of 10 of those. commanders converted just 30% (with FG and kneel it’s closer to 63% stopping them). So part of the eagles problem is poor tackling which help put them in less than ideal position on 3rd. Some of this is playing off WRs with a good amount of cushion that the commanders attacked. Some of this is good play calling by Washington to be conservative in wasting clock (limiting possessions and keeping the eagles defense on the field) and putting themselves in majority 3rd and manageable due to gaining mostly positive yards on 1st and 2nd down.

I just want to live in a Universe where football and professional sports don't exist.

It's demonic and has a spell over us 🤣

Said this in the Hurts thread:

If Houston wasn't garbage, they would've won. This team has a major run defense/tackling issue and it's being exploited majorly right now.

Eagles didn't play well enough in any facet of the game to justify winning.

That said, that officiating crew should be sent back to doing high school games.  Not the reason the Eagles lost by a long shot, but watching a game that was officiated so poorly made the experience of watching that offensive and defensive effort that much more painful.

Congrats 1972 Dolphins.  And now we can put to bed the worry about having to play starters every week if they manage to clinch early.

Vikings managing to win last week looms larger today than yesterday.  And Giants managing to continue to win boggles the mind.

How many times last night did the Wash ball carrier get hit and held up and then end up falling/moving forward for another two to three yards?  It was maddening.

Brian Robinson Jr was a guy I was hoping the Eagles would draft for largely that reason.

Yeah he was good but it wasn't just him.

What an ugly game and loss.  Shake it off and move on.

All the talk about the Eagles run defense and not enough about the Eagles lack of run offense to start the game.  Where in the world was Miles Sanders in the 1st half?  I know the TOP was completely lopsided but even when they had the ball it seemed to be the Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell show.  I don't think Hurts is a QB you can lean on to win as a passer so going full Andy Reid is also a recipe for disaster.

it almost felt like Doug and Jim Schwartz were back on the sidelines in the first half

Unless Slay was playing hurt,  Gannon should be skewered.

Giving the WRs 8-10 yard cushion on every 3rd down is fireable.

"I know guys got long faces, but me personally -- of course I want to win -- but now all this 17-0 s--- is over with. Now we're going to wake up -- how are you going to respond?" said Eagles receiver A.J. Brown, who had a catch knock off his hands and turn into an interception. "This is a game that we all love to play and sometimes you get hit in the mouth. How do you respond? ... I hope we get up and start fighting back and I feel like we will."

Hope Gannon reads this.

Seems like this team has done that for years no matter who was DC.

Hurts was a little off target on some passes but I thought he was fine, Quez and Aj Judyy need to hang onto the ball

I'm done with Quez. Dude deserves to sink down the depth chart.

He's no late round gem.

He's JAG.

That contributed heavily to the L tonight.

Thank You

Quez Jag Watkins lost the game

and release Covey he isn’t even a jag

Also, I know it's just one loss but a loss can expose a lot of weaknesses that are hidden when a team is winning.  I've been saying it for some time now but the Eagles DL is incredibly overrated and severely overpaid.  Not only are the overrated and overpaid but outside of Jordan Davis, who will never be an every down player, this Eagles DL has absolutely nothing when it comes to young talent.  Nothing.

Josh Sweat- great play for the strip sack and followed that up with a terrific play in the run game but it's week 10 and he has 3.5 sacks....that was his 1st since week 4.

BG- 3 sacks, hasn't registered one since week 4.

Cox- 3 sacks, but he's now gone 5 games without one. Started the season off hot....now it's back to  overpaid Fletcher Cox.

Hargrave- 7 sacks.  5.5 of those have come in the last 3 games.  He's incredibly streaky.  Wouldn't be surprised if we see him go sackless until week 17 now.

Milton Williams- 1 sack.  When can we call this guy a bust?

Marlon Tuipulotu- 1 sack and a terrible run game liability.

Reddick- 6.5 sacks as a LB.  Not part of the DL rotation but I'll throw him in there.

I know there's more to DL play than sacks and that's run defense.  Do we need to discuss the run defense any more than we have?  They need a position overhaul.  They need several DE, another starting DT as well as depth.

Hurts wasn't the reason they lost but last night he regressed back in to 2021 Hurts.  He failed to step up in to the pocket and instead rolled to the right directly in to the pass rush on numerous occasions.

There's still just something off about the way they are USING DeVonta Smith.  Another game where he put up Greg Ward type of numbers.  6 catches, 39 yards, 1TD  6.5 YPC.

Ok, what the heck @LeanMeanGM:

Birds - 24

R-words - 14

Prediction: The two R-words TD's will come from Gibson and Robinson.

I missed Casey Toohill

Part of my frustration with Fletch was he just wasn’t making plays, but he was also watching piles move - like since he had to play a lot of snaps it was up to everyone else to finish the play. Not sure what he’ll have in the tank in 6 days if this  is the effort he gives after playing like 2 games in a month.

Looks like they played more bear front in the 2nd half (3DL playing very tight to the ball), as the run defense got better - and they took some more chances on the backend (CBs playing closer at the LOS). Gannon has to adjust sooner, giving up the points was bad but the loooong stretches w/o getting the ball also messes up the O’s tempo - it felt like they didn’t touch the ball for a half hour in real time at some point in the 1st half. The O had plenty of opportunities late - WAS tried to give the game away a couple times…

ugh, these types of losses where if just 1 of 5 things didn’t happened would likely switch a L to a W are bad in their own way. I’d be happier ripping the team with the W.

Nope.  Gibson too, who is another power back.   And really they had no answers for the flanker end arounds either with Samuel.

This defense makes Eno Benjamin look like a power back.

Imagine this defense against an offense with a good QB, good OL and good RBs. The Commanders have none of those things.

That’s a large reason why using their YPC rings hollow. They still controlled the game with a bunch of scrubs.
