I think the first 9 games are now behind us.  🤔

Well after last night and having at best four hours sleep at best so I’m tired I watched the five minute highlights and damn it how did they not see that face mask ?

But in saying that even the great niners teams of the 1980s went undefeated and the 2007 patriots went undefeated in the regular season but lost in the Super Bowl, and I know when I’d prefer to lose if we had to lose.

Imagine this defense against an offense with a good QB, good OL and good RBs. The Commanders have none of those things.

That’s a large reason why using their YPC rings hollow. They still controlled the game with a bunch of scrubs.

As we have seen with Minnesota continuing to win games.  And Dallas to an extent.  The Giants...

NFL just isn't good this year.

Dallas had the right idea and still couldn't beat us.  Houston had the right idea and couldn't beat us.  Washington had the right idea.  We beat ourselves with mistakes on offense.  Still coulda beat them.

We are still contenders.  Still 8-1 and far better than most teams.  Right on part with the few "elite" teams this year.

Our weakness against those teams is that our QB isn't as good as theirs.

So they had a bad week.  It happens.

Now the question they/we will (and should) be enduring all week is if they are a great, championship team that had a bad week or a merely good team that enjoyed a pathetic schedule during a hot streak, still mostly undifferentiated from the rest of the underwhelming NFC.

So they can stew on that for the short week and then we’ll know more about who they are with how they respond next week.

I think you’re taking more solace in this than you should.

Gannon's front 7 is maddeningly predictable. Stunts, games, and disguised blitzes are what what other teams do. Gannon gets a "F" for last night. The real problem is that he stayed true to his philosophy throughout the entire game. No discernable and meaningful halftime adjustments whatsoever. Soft from start to finish and his players played that way too.

If a defender always waits for a ball carrier to come to him rather than attacking and meeting him in the hole for little to no gain, that player should be worried about turning in his play book and getting cut. Not on this team. It's Gannon's SOP and it's nothing short of embarrassing. He should be ashamed of himself. He's not though. We're going to see a lot more of this passive line play, passive LB'er play no penetration or consistent pressure, and zero creativity in his front 7 play design and play calling.

The run D has been a finesse one when Davis hasn't been playing all season. Cox is a stat collector at this point and why I wanted nothing to do with resigning him; the D needs someone hungrier playing than someone who will Cam Newton it at times.

Unless something changes, the Giants and Titans will run all over the DL and LBs until they can prove they can stop it.

This team was never going to go unbeaten, but it needs to be better.

We had extra time to prepare for what was an obvious plan of attack by Washington. This wasn’t something that should have been a surprise. We still got punked. That might be the most annoying part of the loss.

Remember all the praise heaped on Howie for making that deal?

Agree. The Texans laid the game plan out and the coaches look like they did nothing to mitigate it.  It's nothing to panic about at this moment, but is in need of improvement

I forgot he was on the roster until I saw this old dude at DE. Then I remembered it was Quinn

Just wanted to stop by to say don't freak out every one. We had to lose sometime and last night we beat ourselves several times over in the 4th. Also the face mask non call was huge as well.  The only legitimate complaint I would say is we need to stop being so sloppy. Hurts was still playing very well at his position.

Move on guys it's one loss.

Yea sure seems like people thought we'd go through an entire season without laying an egg once. Even for a bad game, I still thought we gave decent effort. Are we as good as the Bills and Chiefs? Of course not, but we're still in that next tier right under them, which is fine by me.

Almost like they spent the last 10 days smelling themselves...

There was a reason he was available for so cheap.  But, if we are counting on him as a run stopper... we are going to be gravely disappointed.

That was more than a bad day at the office.

Im less worried about the offense. That was more fluky, the missed facemask, the Quez fumble, AJ dinged his ankle and wasnt the same...fluky.

The defense is not a fluke, it's a trend.  The run defense is bad enough where it could lose us a game in and of itself.  The pass defense was non-existent last night.  Getting clowned by Heinecke is a firable offense

the GM gets the players , when you have a DC that can't use the players correctly that's not his fault.

Problem is, he's not showing up when it comes to rushing the passer either. He's completely invisible out there .

Is the GM not responsible for who the coaches are?

Also true.

Had my neighbor over for game.  He’s a Washington fan.  Made this loss worst.

Unless we do something drastically different, the likes of Taylor, Henry and Barkley are gonna have an absolute field day against this team, especially with Davis being out.

No. We are still very hard to beat. Teams can give themselves a chance if they have an excellent run game and can limit our possessions. But they still need us to make a bunch of mistakes to beat ourselves. The perfect storm happened last night.

As much as washington pushed our D around in the 1st half, we only lost because of how many mistakes we made.

Aside from us, there are 4 other top teams in the NFL. We wont see the Chiefs or Bills because they are in the AFC. But we have already beat Minnesota, and Dallas. We have beaten the two toughest teams we could have possibly faced in the NFC, and we are 8-1.

I will say this...  the team hasn't really faced any adversity until now.   They hadn't trailed a game at halftime until this game.   And Indy will be a good test to see what the defense learns from this week.  I expect a HUGE dose of Jonathon Taylor running right down our throats.   Can this D stop him?   So far, I'd say that looks unlikely unless Davis is out there.  And since we know he won't be out there... I am highly skeptical.

Offensively, that was a poor performance all around as well.  They ignored their best RB for the first half of the game.  The ball hit the ground too many times in the game.  And there were some players banged up as well.  Brown went off dinged up.  Kelce was limping.  Smith went to the tent.  Goedert went to the tent.  And they just looked anemic at times.  How much of that was due to the sustained drives by Washingteam?  How much was just a clunker of a game plan?  How much was just poor execution.   Lots of blame to be shared on that side of the ball... but when your defense is getting pushed around like the Eagles were... the offense has to sustain some drives to help them out.  They did not.

D- performance by the entire team last night.

The Hurts, McNabb, Vick interview which ended with Hurts saying he appreciated getting his flowers from the other great Philly QBs was nauseating. He is in year 3. He is basically still a rookie. For him to have a perception that he was receiving flowers shows that he thinks he deserves flowers already. He has not had another game as good as week 2 and week 3 this season yet. We are a long way removed from those games now. He needs to up his level of play and stop reading the positive press on himself.

He threw an INT in to double coverage. He ran in to a sack on a crucial 3rd down situation in crunch time. And he underthrew the ball to Quez causing him to go to the ground when he had both defenders absolutely smoked which lead to the fumble. He weak armed two throws to Gainwell, and then missed seeing him wide open on 3rd down on a drive that went 3 and out. He had a large share in losing last night.

The player looks done...

...like Fletcher Cox.

Isn’t Ndamukong Suh available ?  Anyone out there to help shore up D line ?
