I dont think it has to do with Davis. I think they are trying to address the disappointing performance of their DL by adding new players.

Well... different players.  These are old guys that no one else seemed to be in a hurry to add.

To be fair Suh isn't really an NT. Seems like more of a "Cox hasn't been very good" move than anything related to Davis.

He played NT the year he was with the Rams

I like the suh signing but if he was a top FA why was he still on the streets?

Not sure how much he has left but at least he should be fresh, hope he fits in the locker room.

Kerrigan was a complete waste last year.   His playoff game was the only time in the season he seemed to have a pulse, and might have been literally the only game that he showed up on the stat sheet at all.

And he really only did anything because Whirfs was playing on one foot

yeah. Hopefully there is a little bit left in their tanks for a half of a season. But, seems we had to try something. Current DL getting pushed around too much.

I think he's been going to just contenders but could be wrong

He got his career money. Time to add more rings to the resume

One of Suh or Joseph would take all of Marlon T. snaps.  The other can take a rotation from Cox (mostly) and Hargrave

This is as bad as your Goedert fumble take. We get you don't like Hurts. Get over it.

was the face mask and fumble also hurts' fault?

He only wanted to play for a contender. I guess since the NFL mostly sucks this year it took awhile for him to figure out who a contender even is.

the facemask fumble was soft. Thats all on goedert. I can see if his head got spun around far and he was trying to protect himself and not have his neck snapped. But he was mustly just being pulled down to the ground. Not too much of a crazy neck twist. It was a soft, soft fumble.

Our top two NTs are on IR, making the Joseph signing necessary. He probably should only play about 15 snaps a game. We needed another DT because Cox and Hargrave are playing too many snaps (and maybe because Cox is about done).

True that.

Be interesting to see what he's got left and if he can meld with the locker room or will just be a half year mercenary...

Now that they are addressing the run D, I would like to see Dean get some of TJ’s snaps. I haven’t been impressed with him.

In case people are unaware, the Eagles only had 52 players on the roster as of this morning. Signing Suh does not force them to release anyone.

I guess we won't be seeing Davis back any time soon...

I kind of think Joseph might just be a 2 game stop gap until Davis is back. Ray didinger and jaws were on WIP yesterday. Said they think it’s a 2 week stop gap until Davis is back cause Wilson isn’t big enough and we had to put one on IR. I think suh they are gonna try to move around the line and is likely a whole year investment.

With Graham, Suh and CJGJ on the field at the same time we probably have the most annoying defense in the NFL

Make sense. Release Joseph and maybe keep him in the PS if needed.

We got rodgers next week. Clearly the reason we brought in suh

Yup that’s kind of how i viewed that signing is they get two good weeks of Joseph being fresh then can release and out him on PS in case Davis goes down again.

Does Covey still get elevated every week?

Yup, TJ started off in fire playing really well, then he kind of had a lull then Davis went down and the wheels fell off, having a NT like Davis occupying blocks is a ILB best friend, especially for a LB like Edwards who isn't gifted athletically.

Dean is more athletic but in pre season he showed he struggled getting off blocks so not sure he'd fair much better than Edwards.

Let's see how Edwards dues with Joseph and suh added and if he continues to struggle may be time for a change, having said that Edwards has been better than expected in pass coverage where deans lack of length hinders hinders him a bit there.

I think with Marlon T and Jordan D out, these 2 guys are both here til end of year. Disagree that Joseph is a 2 game experiment. Need depth. They needed that even before these injuries. And Davis will play less snaps than before as they will ease him back in.

What's Cortland Finnegan doing these days?

The fact that Dean isn't playing AT ALL worries me greatly. When have we seen highly drafted players who couldn't play at all as rookies ever amount to something? Maybe Trotter, although I'm not entirely certain that he didn't sniff the field as a rookie. I remember Brodrick Bunkley getting the "stay on the bench as a rookie" treatment, much to the confusion and dismay our our fan base. Same with Matt McCoy. He never played as a rookie, and it ultimately proved to be that the coaching staff realized he wasn't any good.

I'm getting that same vibe with Dean. And trust me, I'm not one of those naturally negative fans. On the contrary. I'm usually super optimistic and give players the benefit of the doubt. But when I've watched Dean on special teams, I've been very concerned about his skill set. Frankly in addition to looking very small-framed, he looks slow...or at least slower than we thought. And his change of direction and tackling has been underwhelming. I'm seriously thinking that while he may have good instincts (at least that was his rep coming out), he was in position to make plays in college primarily because he was surrounded by great talent.

My guess is that he never develops into a sustained starter in the league. The fact that Gannon raved about him a couple weeks ago means nothing. Coaches talk up their players all the time.
