Uh huh…

90% gone, and all Elon is doing is reinstating banned accounts today.

Go back to CVON where you can circle jerk with the rest of your snowflake buddies!

Why would I when I can stay here and learn so much about software engineering from you?

Maybe he meant a pillow?

Is the scoreboard that the app still works or that the company is making a profit?

We're in a simulation anyways.

The universe is twitter.

I just checked Twitter…..yup, still working.

Seems like a lot.  Again; I have no idea what the inner workings of Twitter are nor do I know what Musk’s intentions are.   But at the end of the day, it’s his company and it’s his 40+ billion that’s at risk.  If what he does doesn’t work out, who loses the most?

For someone who is worth $100+ billion it may not be a lot. I'm not much of a finance person, but I've seen he has $11 billion of his own money and from tesla stocks he sold. The rest is from investors and banks basically lending him the money. I've also seen his interest payments on those loans is north of $1 billion a year. He took the company private, so he bought the company at $54.20 per a share, which was 64% higher than the stock price was before the offer was made public. That's why twitter basically forced him to buy it. When it was a public company, the board has to put the shareholders first, and if someone is offering to buy your stocks at a 64% mark up, you are obligated to take the deal.

Elon claimed Twitter was losing something like $4 million a day, so laying off the high amount of employees will definitely lower the daily losses, but that won't really kick in until end of February when everyone stops getting severance pay. In the mean time twitter is losing advertisers, which is how they make money, and trying to implement this $8 verified feature, which defeats the purpose of being verified. Elon will be on the hook for the $11 billion he's invested plus interest payments, but if it goes boobs up he will probably lose control of the company and a lot of the assets (servers, hardware, etc.) owned by twitter.

Honestly, twitter isn't very innovative as a company. They went public in 2013 and the biggest change they've made to the platform is allowing for more characters in a tweet. Unless Elon has some grand plan to show advertisers a better ROI on their investments, or is able to launch a successful subscription model to bring in money, it's going to be a lost cause. No, twitter will not shut down and cease to exist, but it has a pretty high chance of failing and being bought out by somebody else at a steep discount.

The funny thing is, it was working far quicker today for me than it ever has.  The less staff, the better the performance it seems

Just checked your argument, yep still uniformed nonsense.

You don’t understand….it’s going to stop working…..like sometime.

Because.

Twitter is not actually working, we just aren’t sophisticated enough to realize it 😂

90% of Twitter employees gone, and yet it’s still working great….

They crashed 2FA recently and locked a lot of people out of their accounts. It doesn’t just break  overnight. Hopefully he can solve the issues as they pop up.

Literally nobody here has said Twitter would stop working overnight. Normally I'd explain what a strawman argument is, but I have a feeling it wouldn't be a good use of time.

Someone needs to let my Twitter feed know that it’s no longer working….somehow I just saw this:

One of the bigger issues on Twitter has been child exploitation not use of the N word, etc. For whatever reason, the previous regime never took the issue that seriously

https://www.reuters.com/technology/exclusive-brands-blast-twitter-ads-next-child-pornography-accounts-2022-09-28/

Twitter's transparency reports on its website show it suspended more than 1 million accounts last year for child sexual exploitation.

It made about 87,000 reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a government-funded non-profit that facilitates information sharing with law enforcement, according to that organization's annual report.

...

A team of Twitter employees concluded in a report dated February 2021 that the company needed more investment to identify and remove child exploitation material at scale, noting the company had a backlog of cases to review for possible reporting to law enforcement.

This is kind of a strawman argument.  It looks like from the article they did take some steps but didn't put enough resources in to fix the issue.  I don't think they banned every user who has used the N word  either. Also, I am not sure whether this has anything to do with whether Elon has done a good job as a CEO.

Yeah. Everything will stop working. Facebook and Insta have been doing that a lot recently as has WhatsApp.   Twitter will have a DR plan and teams in place to keep it going.  So much drama from people around it going down and never coming back again..............

All I am pointing out is that people got in a tizzy over the N word usage and clutched their pearls coz Elon, but there is vast quantities of pooorn and kiddie versions of it that seemed to just be there for years and years.  And as  you point out, the backlog was never cleared, but if you make certain comments, you'd be banned ASAP

Do you think there should be a debate about racists using the n word? People would be banned here for using it.  Why don't you think Twitter shouldn't ban it?

I don't there is any debate about child exploitation.  Even those sick enough to engage in it, know they are sick. It doesn't seem like many racists believe there's a problem with dropping an n-bomb.

Moreover, the real issue is that by unbanning it, Elon hurt the company's revenue.  He fundamentally misjudged the marketplace.

I will double down on politics and twitter takes if they win. Also, I will change my username to Sanders/Desantis24.

Not to change the subject... but why are the WRs working on this, and not just letting the QB work on throwing a better ball?  I thought it was all Hurts' fault.
