His drafting hasn't been very good.

I did say last couple of years. I am kinda including AJ Brown in there as 1st round pick for '22. Will have to see about Davis & Dean. Little early to say. Even if you go back to 2020. Picking up Hurts, more than makes up for the bust Reagor. Which he eventually cut bait with and got something for. So lets see who he drafts with those picks. But, I do give him credit for not holding too long there and getting something.

He damn well better be

He's been talked about for head coaching gigs, like Steichen. The better Hurts plays, the better chances of that happening are.

I don't think he quite has the resume yet to become a HC, but it's possible. But if he doesn't get promoted to OC here, he will absolutely get an OC job somewhere else. So my priority would be to keep him at all costs possible. If he gets a HC gig, it is what it is.

I guess my overall point is that Howie is doing a phenomenal job in filling the ranks as the Eagles staff constantly gets poached and staying ahead of things. He's earned my trust in their quick 2 year turnaround here from almost worst to first. It's an incredible overall job with the limited salary cap they had and growing that draft stash to be potentially setting up a dynasty here. Next 2 drafts are so important and they have the picks to fill holes. Looks like we are on the right track with this current core.

Usually the HC picks his staff

So Howie is basically lining up 2 consultants for our next DC (Fangio) and next OC (Brady). Will be easy transitioning. Howie always playing 4D Chess. He's earning an A plus plus plus for his 2 plus year's work here. From the drafting of players, to the Coaching/Management hires, to Free Agency (on a somewhat limited budget), to  trades, to reestablishing the Eagles identity/culture league wide. Can go on and on. Unbelievable!!

I remember when someone told us he wasn’t going to have surgery or TJ on here. While Jayson stark had been reporting it for months. Hopefully he’s back by June if he had the hoskins TJ performed. Probably not playing the field til 2024.

All star break is the target for DH.

He was drafted by the Lions and played his first 5 seasons in Detroit as a rival of the Packers and Rodgers.

The Brady addition is an interesting one. Sirianni obviously knows him well and gets him in the building now and builds even more familiarity when we could potentially lose an offensive assistant or two.

Good idea by whomever pitched it.

Doesn’t help either that lovie smith isn’t the coach i want coaching my young Qb

Lovie doesn’t coach offense, that’s Pep Hamilton.  I think Pep is a good coach.  Problem is they have a game manager type QB throwing to two WRs, Dorsett and Cook, that really aren’t great route runners, basically should be playing third WR because they are pretty much speed merchants.

There are teams that have a bad coach and QB match.  Broncos and Russell Wilson, for example.  Creator bomber in a timing offense.  You can see why Pete Carroll grew frustrated with Wilson.

So Eagles apparently hired ex-Colts OC Marcus Brady as a consultant to work with Gannon.

Losing Shane insurance.

This is why the draft is equal parts art and equal parts science. London had a lot of the warning signs that linked him to JJAW, most of us would have had a meltdown if we had drafted him, yet here is, a legit stud in the making.

I get what you’re saying and don’t disagree with your assessment. but if I’m hiring a head coach with a young quarterback that I want to develop which the Texans thought Mills could be at the end of last year then I am not hiring Lovie Smith.  Pep Hamilton is a nice cosch but I want a head coach that is going to help pep Hamilton and my quarterback get developed. i think the smarter hire wouldn’t have been a retread defensive type head coach so you could maximize Hamilton and the head coach to get the most out of mills that at the time they thought could be a good player.

I'd much rather go with Brian Johnson if they lose Steichen. I'd probably rather go with Patullo as well over Marcus Brady.

I'm not sure there is anything more to this than Howie just bringing in consultants. Over the last 2-3 years they were linked to Warren Sharp, Morningwheg, Jim Bob Cooter, Vic Fangio, Dorsey etc.

Perhaps a good idea if viewed dispassionately, but it is hard to conceive of anything Brady-related without an abundance of passion.

EDIT: my bad ... I thought everyone was talking about Tom Brady.
