Lamar Jackson was MVP but what did it get the Ravens?

Root for the team more, and the player less. I think that's all the blog has been trying to tell you.

  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

  • Listen up blog.  Enough. These 2 ass clowns are suspended for 2 weeks.  They've both had warnings to quit the personal attacks.  There's a line between trash talk and just abusing other posters a

It was the same scheme that shut down Jefferson.  He doesn't have his CBs line up inside.  It has works almost all season.

It was one play where the opponent beat us with speed.  Deal with it.

That scheme against Jefferson has a healthy Maddox and CJGJ. We weren’t playing with our full complement of players. And we were trying to hold a 14 point game against a backup QB.

There is no defending that.

GB averaged 14 points on the road this year. Defense was bad

Not as bad as it's being made out to be. They were given short fields twice, they had 2 turnovers, a bunch of 3rd down stops. They had two horrific drives, the first drive and the Watson TD.

They had Marcus Epps covering Justin jefferson? Don't remember that happening

Slay didn't follow him in the slot.  May have been Maddox (who wasn't available) or CJGJ (who wasn't available).

The other team is trying too.

Being down your nickel cb (multiple weeks to adjust in that) and your safety that moonlights in that role (in game injury), that’s tough to plug someone in there.  But it really shouldn’t have been Epps.  Granted, if it’s Slay or Bradberry mirroring Watson, then you’ve Epps still probably doing something he shouldn’t be somewhere else.  We’d have to check out the All22 to see who GB had on the field.

no. he didnt. the other route held him up for a split second. He was doomed from the start. He was never going to be out ahead of that route to get a better angle. He had to go from where he was. It was a win for the play design against that coverage.

He was too aggressive downfield and needed to fan toward the sideline to get him to cut back inside. It was a bad angle, letting Watson easily beat him to the sideline.

We’ll have to agree to disagree here.

Oh so we had players who could reasonably cover him then, so no need for slay to follow. When you don't have those players available, maybe don't call that coverage. It is beyond idiotic to think Marcus Epps could cover watson idk how you're possibly defending that call.

Did the Eagles just win a shootout by running the ball? Is this bizarro 2007?

Not many teams can attack you with RBs deep. Teams are going to start doing that with us if they have the personnel (Barkley, CMC).

He’s going to give Cam a run for his money for worst post MVP qb career.

I’m not sure the defense was quite as bad as it looked tonight.

I have a sense that GB hit on more cylinders in a last gasp tonight than they usually do (lately, at least).  I think that was a more dangerous offense than we realize.  Our secondary had to do some shuffling.  And they still produced 2 key turnovers and had ST and Brown giving up short fields most of the night.

They weren’t…playing a desperate team is never easy.  They also played very soft once Rodgers left.

Yup, another Gannon problem. Just because Rodgers left didn’t mean they were just going to lie down but he just figured he'd let them do whatever they wanted

How would Gannon know where Watson was going to line up before he makes the defensive call?

Not having Maddox and CJGJ available made us vulnerable in the middle of the field.  GB took advantage.  Teams do that.  I suggest that you deal with it and move on.

I still feel like something is off with this passing game. They shouldn't go into a shell because Goedert is out. Smith and AJ with Watkins should be plenty.

It seemed like Hurts has more designed runs than scrambles. It does seem like he’s more cautious about making throws. He also just doesn’t seem to see certain throws very well. This is the 2nd game where he missed Brown on an wide open crossing route. On the other hand, he’s aware of his limits and made smarter decisions in this game. He was a big reason why they won. The talent of the team begs the question as to whether the offense would perform better with a QB with an elite arm and pocket presence. Mahomes on the Eagles makes them unstoppable.  Kirk Cousins or probably any other NFC QB on this team would be a step back. They are winning close games. There’s nothing lucky about 350+ rushing yards. Hurts was a big reason for their performance.  I just am not convinced that he can perform well enough to win in the playoffs. If he has reached a plateau as a player, I don’t think there’s a way to structure the team to win a Super Bowl.

Should we feel good about Epps 1 on 1 with Cobb or Lazard?

It's Gannon's fault that Watson is very fast?

Yes

We're 10-1, guys. Yes, there are flaws offensively, defensively, and on STs, but at the end of the day, they're still bailing each other out week to week to get all these wins. Are we as good as our record says we are? Probably not, but we're not as bad as a 7-4 team either. And also not so bad as to say that losing our first playoff game is a forgone conclusion.

Are there things to improve in all phases of the game? Absolutely, but I can't really complain too much if results like these keep piling up. Do I have legit concerns that schematically, some of the things we're doing might not be as sustainable as needed to get us another ring? Of course. But I'll try to worry about that if and when it starts to happen. And until then, I'm gonna enjoy having the best record in the league.

Did we get caught in a hurry up - looks like a real okie front (3-4) with 2xCBs and 2xSs versus 3WR?

What kind of nonsense stance is this?  How is rooting for the young QB the Eagles have drafted who has continued to drafted and might win MVP this year and lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl not rooting for the team?

If we did, that means we made a real mistake the down before too.

Maybe they're just hiding their real offense for the playoffs, win all these regular season games with hurts running a ton and BAM he becomes Elway and starts throwing 400 yards a game en route to a super bowl

F'in love these guys

Normally I'd be fighting my way onto a subway around now. Is this normally the time when we all complain about the game instead of being happy about winning?
