So who is the next go to for Oline since JR left us?

How has Mailata been doing this season so far? He seems to be getting beat lately

I think Dickerson struggled more than Mailata.  Mailata gave up some pressure but part of it was because Hurts started to move out of the pocket.

Besides getting the story wrong (Doug didn’t tank), I hope the nfl doesn’t go to a lottery. I don’t think there is real tanking in the NFL, at least not like the NBA/NHL.

But it seems like Payton hates the eagles, or am I just imagining things?

Feeling is mutual. F the Saints and Payton

You can’t see with your own eyes?

I don't think they will ever go to a lottery.

They want to be a parity league. The current setup promotes that. Also the NFL draft is a money maker for them. Especially compared to every other league. I wouldn't think they would want to drastically change anything.

Curious that there is no update on CJGJ. Hopefully he didn't lacerate a kidney or something. He seemed to be in a lot of pain if it was just some cracked ribs. Unless he just likes being dramatic, maybe.

Don't know if you've ever had cracked ribs but I was in agony the first couple days. Coughing, laughing, clearing my throat, and God forbid sneezing all felt like getting stabbed with a hot knife.

I can't imagine why, other than maybe teams think Gannon can be a better head coach than a DC, as a DC he's been pretty average.

Where as Meco has been lights out.

Meco would have instant credibility with his players as a coach, he was well respected as a player and achieved success at the highest level.

I was actually surprised Lurie ever let him out of the building and didn't hire him in some capacity.🤷‍♂️

Gannon had a more accomplished resume. Ryans only had 1 year of DC and 3 years of ILB the last cycle. He's going to pass by Gannon in the next cycle, IMO.

Grant Calcaterra should not be one of them. I'm guessing (I haven't actually noticed) that they're not using Stoll there anymore since he's now too valuable on offense. So that's why they have Calcaterra running downfield instead.  I'm also not sure that Boston Scott should be covering kickoffs either.

And I still think that Nakobe Dean has been a huge disappointment on special teams. I noticed on one of the big returns, he was glued to his blocker and the return man just flew by him.

I'm still aghast at that last kickoff. It's like the other team is laughing at your ineptitude when they decided to return the ball from deep in their endzone. It's guaranteed other teams will start doing this too.

You are the ace on STs.

I went back and watched the kicks and returns.  Couldn’t spot Calcaterra  being an issue or a factor on returns (he keeps his lane but is nowhere near the ball).  Dean’s play is bad.  I need the All22 to better see. (Using the condensed game).  On the second half kickoff, Boston Scott actually kept his lane and did not get engulfed in the block like Dean, who helped create the lane in doing so. Scott pursued with a good angle and made the tackle.   He was dragged about four yards but held on and got the runner down.  Needs work on his tackling but they all do.  Dean seems clueless, and creates lanes by not having discipline.  After the Brown TD, Dean knocks off Bradley as he is moving for the tackle although Bradley got an ankle and Scott is there to finish the tackle.  After the last field goal, Dean takes out an Eagle creating the initial crease.  Wallace actually comes back and makes the tackle.  Speaking of RBs, Gainwell gets close but reaches for ankles while taking himself to the ground. He is next to useless on cover teams.

Hate the blocking on returns. No coordination, no thought process, like take your man to the right or left depending on what side the ball goes on so no lanes created, not that Covey would know what to do with a lane. That is solidly on the coach.

All they need is Jimmy G to game manage. They have the offensive weapons to put up some points too.

The talk radio mantra for the past week has been how Jimmy G is the perfect match for the 49ers, and that he should be getting a whole lot more respect than he is getting.  They also have made a big deal about how he and Kyle Shanahan are unable to communicate with each other civilly, and that Jimmy's improved play started when he told Shanahan to shove his advice where the sun doesn't shine ... and started playing QB nthe way he felt was best rather than the way Shanahan was trying to make him play.

Demeco Ryans will have his pick of teams coming up this year.

He could be a candidate for the Texans if they move on from Lovie Smith.  I don't know if the Broncos will look at hiring him and I don't know if I would want to be their coach if I was him.  I think the best place for him would be Carolina.  They have some decent pieces on the roster.  They just need a QB and improved o-line.

Three minutes of BS.  Payton is a knob.

1.  There will never be a draft lottery in the NFL; legalized gambling on the NFL means increased suspicion the lottery would be fixed.

2.  The league DID NOT have a problem with what Doug did; they made that abundantly clear the next morning.  NFL policy was dictated way back in the 80s when Ditka tried to file a grievance -- teams have the right to play and compete in their own best interest.  That policy has never changed.

I think owners consider other factors beyond ability to scheme as a coordinator.  Guys like Andy and Harbaugh were identified early as potential Head Coaches because of things like player relations, organization, creativity, etc.  Sirianni didn't have a stellar OC resume, but it was the Emotional Intelligence that Lurie liked.

My Dads birthday was yesterday. He said he remembers the Packers played The Eagles in his birthday back in 2005. You guys had Mike McMahon at QB and he beat Farve. I looked it up and we lost 19-14. This is the 2nd time we’ve played you guys on his birthday.

Blankenship seems the opposite of CJGJ, can lay the wood in run support but lacks coverage skills. Epps may have to step it up if CJGJ is out for an extended time. When is Maddox supposed to come back? What was once the strength of this team, pass defense, seems to be getting more and more injured every week. Wallace had a decent showing too, remember him making some plays on defense. Some of these younger guys are going to need to step it up.

Blankenship is quite a different player than CJGJ.  Bites and takes poor angles.  But the big difference is speed.

I agree, but Ryans has all the intangibles in spades too, in my opinion. There were tons of stories about players being drawn to him when he was playing here. Reporters all said he had that aurora around him in the locker room. Even Chip liked him.

I just remember the word being put out at the time that teams thought he was a little too green and needed more experience. This was also before Irsay kicked that door down. Reid had 17 years experience before becoming the HC here. Harbaugh had 24 years. Ryans is in his 5th year.

I think that was the third in a row with the first one being the game with 4th and 26 in the playoffs.

4th and 26 still hurts to this day. That scarred us for life. I really thought we could have beaten Carolina in the Championship Game that year.

Yep. He was up there with some of my all-time favorite FA LB signings... Emmons, Barber, Spikes, Ryans.

Nick gets it.

As a Packers Fan I’ve never minded the Eagles. You guys broke our hearts a couple times in the playoffs but you guys are cool. You beat up on Minnesota so you guys are awesome with us.
