While we're on the topic of Malcolm Jenkins...which one of you is this?

I think Jenkins was a very good Eagle but I never viewed him as an all-time great.  He was a leader on a Super Bowl winning team, played almost every snap as an Eagle but in all honesty, his numbers are very comparable to Michael Lewis, who I think was very underrated. His back/neck issues really cut his career short and effected how good he could have been.  He also was one of the last true Strong Safeties in the "old" NFL.  Just look at the numbers.  Lewis played in nearly 40 less games than Jenkins as an Eagle and only has 41 fewer tackles, 2 less INT and so on.

Michael Lewis- 58 games in 5 seasons, started for 3 of them, 2 NFC Championship games, 1 Super Bowl and 1 Pro Bowl.  394 tackles, 6 sacks, 9 INT, 41 PD 10 FF, 6 FR

Malcolm Jenkins- 96 games in 6 seasons playing nearly every snap.  Super Bowl Champion, 3 Pro Bowls.  435 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 11 INT, 58 PD 12 FF, 6 FR

Not taking away anything Jenkins did for the team, I just think a lot of people have him on this untouchable pedestal for some reason.  Maybe because the Eagles struggled to find a safety for so many years after Dawkins?

Just like retiring numbers, just because players won a Super Bowl shouldn't make them locks to be Eagles HOF.  Jenkins was a key part of that team, he knocked out Brandin Cooks but Rodney McLeod was just as important and I don't think he's an Eagles HOF either.

He was too inconsistent for me.  It was the knock coming out of NO.  When he was on he was great, but he would disappear for half the season most of the time.  Which wasn't good for a guy who's position was one that should be visible a lot.

Loved Star Fox. Also Banjo-Kazooie. Come to think of it N64 really was a beast of a console.

Nintendo Switch has an emulator for a lot of the classic N64, Super Nintendo and NES games FWIW. Gonna take an edible and play some Majora's Mask tonight.

2020 QB Draft Class looking like it's going to be looked back at as one of the best.

Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Hurts and there is still the unknown of Love that is tbd.

The amazing thing is, it came with Mario 64, and you really probably needed another game for the rest of your life. Thats an all timer.

But yeah mario cart was awesome. Golden Eye multi player. Tony Hawk tournaments.

One that I dont think was as popular but was a fun time was Wave Racer, and doing that milti-player.

I had a football game that wasnt Madden, and it was awesome- NFL Quarterback Club 98 with Brett Favre on the cover. I played a ton of that when I was alone.

Scout team QB instead of an inactive RB?

People often swear by that more than OoT. Wish I had the time to give that a shot these days, enjoy it man.

It was NFL Blitz for me.  That game was ridiculously dumb but a lot of fun.

Malcolm Jenkins is up there my least favorite Eagles. He can stay away forever

We used to get together and play Smash Brothers and Golden Eye for hours, hilarious games to play with friends

Why is that

You wondered how it was that you ended up on my Ignore list a while back.  It was because of your posting useless drivel comments like the one above.  All comments like that do is waste people's time and pollute the tone of the Blog.  You know that the chances of getting him to change are zero percent, so why waste your effort?

The comment wasnt some random post out if no where, Toronto had been replying to me over an hour I replied back and believe it or not the discussion was eagle related, we had a disagreement he made it personal I reponded to that.

The purpose of this board is to have discourse with others about the eagles, it's not higher education or solving global problems and as such doesn't deserve to be treated as such.

I get that the back and forth between other posters at times can be grating and again it's what the board is designed for and really duesnt require a huge amount of effort.

I appreciate your sentiment though.

For some reason professional athletes gaming is always entertaining to me. Nothing will ever top the Spurs winning it all then having a StarCraft LAN party on the plane though.

Starcraft was awesome.

No risk if he fair catches all the punts, or lets them fly over his head into the end zone.

He won't get tackled if he fair catches everything.

If we want a PR that just fair catches everything covey can do that.

I think we could have, sure, but what gives me pause, is we had a tendency to struggle against the AFC back then. Even that regular season, we lost to Indy, Jax, and Tennessee, and early on, struggled against the Texans playing in their 4th game as a franchise, before pulling away late in the game.

I think your 2002 team was better than the 2003 team. That 03 Eagles team was good but not nearly as good as 02. I remember you guys won a few games in the final minute that year.

Yup that 03 team was a mess but somehow pulled it together to limp Into the NFCCG.

They could revert him from the retired list to their active list and just keep him on the team.

They could say no, but I'm not sure what happens then. Most likely it goes to an arbitrator or something and he eventually gets released.

I'd guess at this point in their season they would just release him and honor his wishes since he was a pretty important player to their organization and there's no reason for them to get into this bad PR.

But, there are two important deadlines at play here. After this week (week 13) players cannot revert off the retired list for the rest of the season. The only way he would be able to play after this week is clear waivers and then sign with someone. If someone else claims him he has to stay retired because the deadline to come off the list passed, and he would apply to the rule (aka Deion Sanders 2002).

Since were passed the trade deadline, if he wanted to play for someone else there is no option but to go through waivers. If they release him this week, teams can claim him but would probably be forced to add him to their roster. So maybe no one one claims him. Basically if it has any chance at happening, it would have to be this week.

I think the s ain’ts may well have designated Jenkins a June 1 just like the Eagles did with Brooks.  Spotrac shows Jenkins with 2022 and 2023 hits.  Only way to do that was as a June 1.  I believe doing that may mean Jenkins is viewed like a cut player but reading the CBA did not afford clarity on the issue.  Not that I want to see Jenkins signed.

I’m not disrespecting you guys but man we could have made it to the SB if we stopped you on 4th and 26. If we can’t stop a 4th and 26 we don’t deserve to though.

Thanks for the thoughtful response.  One aspect of waivers is that the claiming team takes on the players contractual obligation, which includes a base Salary of approximately $8 million prorated for the percentage of the season left to play.  How many teams would squander $4 million of cap space to claim him and keep him on their roster?

Suggestion in the media was Jenkins restructured his contract down to the vet minimum for 2022 and 2023 when he was deciding to retire

They did it exactly the same as Brooks, but on their transaction page it said he was placed on reserved/retired and not released. They waited to take advantage of post June 1st rules. But yea, who knows. Just going off the limited info out there.

Good news to people who prefer 1 o’clock games. Eagles fandom aside I think Eagles/Giants is the better matchup but what do I know.
