He is, I’d prefer Kelee Ringo

Me either, they have Bresee going to the Texans at 32. I don’t think he makes it out of the first

Feel like Ringo is going in the top 15-20

Conventional wisdom is developing that DAL and SF are the toughest playoff matchups for the Eagles.

If TB could string together some wins (including beating SF in two weeks), TB could pass SF for the 3 seed, dropping SF to the 4.

SF hosting Dallas in the wildcard round would be ideal. A long shot for now, but not impossible.

A new mock on TDN has 32 picks in round 1. They are just so off their game this year on that website.

Anyway, the players for the eagles are Christian Gonzalez at pick 7. First CB off the board. Its the first Ive seen him have a turn. But other sites have had Ringo, Cam Smith, or Porter, so I guess he was due for his turn at the top of the CB rankings.

With our other 1st they have us taking Jared Verse.

Id be thrilled with those two players in round 1.

Our 2nd round pick is Sean Tucker.

I dont think we should go RB this early in this amazing RB draft. But thats a great trio of players.

I'd be thrilled if they walk away with Gonzalez, Verse and Tucker in the 1st 2 rounds.  Depending on what happens with Miles Sanders, I'd be happy if they double dipped at RB later in the draft too.  I love Tucker and his deceptive speed but I also want a physical back.  I know, I know...we always want a big back, but I just want a RB to offer a different element.  I don't want Hurts to be the biggest RB in the room.

The only thing about Gonzalez is that as good as he is, Howie's track record with drafting CB is terrible.  I'd almost be more comfortable getting a DT and DE in round 1 and letting him fill the CB hole in FA.

I think theres about a Zero % chance we draft in our original spots(8ish for saints, and 32ish for our pick)

I think theres about a 50%/50% chance we pick twice in the first. I see us selling our Saints pick to the highest bidder, maybe moving back to the end of the first, or just getting a ton.

I've seeen the Eagles linked to Jared Verse a couple times so I've watched him more/FSU games more and he looks like he'd fit in here.

Also saw Bijan Robinson linked to us...DO NOT WANT!!!!!!!!!

If that Saints pick is around 7ish I think theres a decent number of teams to watch for that would move up for a QB. One team to watch would be Tampa. I dont think Brady is going to return there next year and unless they are high on Kyle Trask, they could be a team willing to trade up for a QB.

I thought they were high on Trask.  7 could be prime QB needy trade down options.  I'd love to keep trading back and piling up multiple 1st round picks for when needed.  The hope is still that Hurts is long-term solution but if they have multiple 1st round picks in 2024 and are in position to move up for Caleb Williams that would be mighty tempting.  I think Williams brings everything Hurts does but a far superior arm.  Not taking away from any of the progress that Hurts has made because he has improved his game.  I just want more from the passing offense.  Again, the hope is Hurts continues to improve his game.  Please, no one misconstrued this as me saying I want Hurts gone.

I don't think there's a doubt that Howie is going to parlay that pick, if it is a top 10 pick especially, to a QB needy team. The Eagles salary cap situation for one reason and two,  that is his MO and how he's gonna rebuild this aging defense the next 2 years, now that Hurts is the man. This is all lining up almost perfectly for a long successful and sustainable run in the NFC. Howie looks like a master already turning Carson Wentz into several picks and turning a high draft position in 2020 into a massive stash of picks. I appreciate Wentz even more these days and thank him for wanting out and discovering Hurts in the process.

Wonder if Houston would give up Cleveland pick which will probably be around 15 along with 1st pick in 2nd round for chance to get back into top 10

If Howie trades back for multiple firsts for next year it would be a sign he isnt fully sold on Hurts.....and he shouldnt be. I think we should let Hurts play out his contract and see if he takes another step next year. Theres no way we should pay $40 - $50 million a year for a QB that runs as much as Hurts does. Its a bad investment because hes going to get hurt playing this way and he needs to show he can take another step in the passing game before he earns that type of contract imo. Howie would be smart to play it safe and gather more future 1st round picks just in case Hurts turns out he isnt the man.

Yeah I was thinking that as well.

If Levis is sitting there at the saints pick we could net a ransom….or draft a prototype qb

Seems the ravens took that same approach with Lamar.

I think it depends on the playoffs and how well he plays there. He would have to stink it up to not get a contract this offseason. Only gonna get more expensive. This team is built around him right now and suits him well. Hurts has already shown when Goedert is in the lineup that he doesn't need to run as much. This offense has proven it can win in many different ways and not too worried about the hits as he's playing smart in how he protects himself and gonna use his weapons when they are all there and healthy. For now taking what the defense is giving him and not forcing hero ball turnovers and sacks. Over time he will do less running, as it's a natural evolution with experience and age. He's doing what he's being coached to do right now.

I don't see any way in the world TB gets anything but the #4 seed.  SF and CIN will likely both lay waste to them in the next few weeks.

They will crawl through their terrible division and host DAL in the wildcard game #4 vs #5.  A win-win, lose-lose scenario.

He has ran 15+ times in 5 games this season, which is almost half our season, so it really doesnt matter if Goedert is in or out.

The Ravens have been trying everything they can to sign Lamar long term; he refuses to sign a contract.  RG III is friends (former teammate) with him, and says Jackson is waiting as long as he can while other QB contracts drive up the market.  He's also insisting on a fully guaranteed contract, while the Ravens are not as dumb as the Browns.

The appearance is he does not want to re-sign with the Ravens.

I think he’s making a bad choice. Baltimore is a well run franchise, good coaching, and they have completely designed their offense around Lamar. It’s really the best situation he could be in. They need to upgrade their WR talent for sure, and get some RBs who don’t get injured so easily, but that’s relatively fixable.

If he chases money and goes to a place like, say Houston, it would be a horrible mistake

I am not arguing against Hurts running less, but his run counts are inflated by sneaks and kneel-downs.

It would also be nice if there were stats readily available that distinguish between a scramble and designed run.

It would be good in the long run for Hurts to run less to protect his body.

That being said, some of the early runs were so wide open, not taking them would have hurt the team. You have to take what they are giving you. And if they give you 30-40 Yard QB run lanes, you HAVE to take them. It makes it so hard to defend this offense.

Now somewhere in the playoffs a team may sell out to take away all the run lanes and force Hurts to beat them passing into tight 1/1 windows, while facing 5-6-7 and even 8 man fronts and pressure....  And he will need to step up and do that. I think he can....  But it will come, and he will have to answer that bell.

Goedert has been out about half of those 5 games, but yeah it's not ideal with this much running. True. Again that will be reduced as we go on here. The hard hits haven't been too bad besides the one last week. He could get crushed in the pocket just the same and sacked/stripped sacked as well... He's not playing reckless.

Yup,  was reading he had 15 kneel downs this year. I imagine just as many sneaks. And plenty of times where he just goes out of bounds to live for the next play.
