So a bunch of the very same Ravens players saying it hurt them. Yep, I'm convinced now.

Yes you obviously know much better

Breaking news: Players who underperformed after a game stoppage choose to blame the stoppage rather than themselves for their poor performance. Film at 11.

Some insight in the run plays.  Apologies if posted earlier.

Seriously.  Who uses film anymore?

Yep.  They should cut him and put Hurts back there to call fair catch.

How about you do it?

In Stoutland we trust.

Actually I was looking at the PS current receivers as actual WRs.  I figure Ward has a slight edge on Allen.  While the latter is faster, the former has a more complete route tree.  Neither offer Pascal level blocking.  Auden Tate hasn’t been around as long and keeps getting cut from the PS, so see him as an option.  Baker is brand new and bigger but green to Eagles playbook.  So if they need a fifth WR, Ward makes the best sense because what little Covey offers as a RS, he isn’t good as a WR.  Just seems with Brown recovering from a pretty bad stomach bug and Pascal and Smith both gimpy, that going into a game where the opponent’s run D is a strength but the pass defense is banged up and already questionable, that Covey as the fifth WR is too much of a risk.  (Have to think Smith’s groin injury has a relation to his knee issue so I wonder if it is a lingering issue.)

Given the Eagles woes on Special Teams, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they brought up both Ward and Allen for this game.

I agree with you. There isn’t any other DT I like at this point other than those two, and they’ll both be top 15 guys. There’s plenty of EDGE guys like the one from Notre Dame & Kansas State that both look awesome and will likely be there around our 2nd 1st round pick.

Todays Inky looks at the Draft and says the following:

Quote

One of the deepest positions in this class happens to be one the Eagles highly value.

The crop of first-round hopefuls is rich with pass-rushing talent, particularly at edge rusher. Of Pro Football Focus draft analyst Mike Renner’s top 50 prospects, 12 are edge rushers, with three of them ranking inside the top 10.

Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson, Georgia’s Nolan Smith, Clemson’s Myles Murphy, and Florida State’s Jared Verse have the twitchy athleticism possessed by the majority of the league’s most dominant rushers. Anderson likely is going within the first few picks, and Murphy has a chance as well.

The talent on defense isn’t limited to edge guys, though. Georgia interior lineman Jalen Carter figures to be a top-five selection, with Clemson’s Bryan Bresee also having a chance to secure a spot in the top five to seven picks. The Eagles are deep at defensive tackle this season, but Javon Hargrave, Fletcher Cox, Linval Joseph, and Ndamukong Suh are on one-year contracts.

The Eagles’ penchant for drafting pass rushers makes these guys worth watching as bowl season looms. Especially if Hurts signs a lucrative extension this offseason, having a game-changing edge rusher on a rookie contract for five seasons would be a significant step toward ensuring that the defense doesn’t take a step back as the salary-cap situation tightens.

Bill Simmons so delusional. Saying on his pod that the Patriots are the best place for Brady to go next year because they would become an instant contender moreso than any other team.  Patriots have no WRs.  That's part of the reason why he left.

Well Allen did show flashes (against scrubs) as a gunner so I have been looking at him as a prospective call up, but not both.  Frankly, I wonder about Jackson getting sent to the PS and them calling up Togiai.  Better in STs and gives them a TE besides Stoll who can block.  But he may be out of elevations.  Also wonder about Taylor, who did well on coverage units last year.  One thing that has to be considered with elevations is the three game limit. The other is who goes inactive. Lately it has been Opeta, Sills, Book, Sermon and Jobe.  IIRC, the STs coverage nosedived when Maddox got hurt and J Scott quit playing as much on STs and when Jobe got hurt. If Jobe’s hammy is okay, full practice and not on injury report this week, then I believe he will be active for STs play.  So who fills his spot on inactive.  Hopefully not Smith or Pascal, so CJGJ unless they IR him to make Davis active.  Who are you sitting?

Ah yes, it's very dumb to assume players are more likely to ascribe fault to external factors rather than to themselves. That's very much not aligned with well established behaviors in the field of human psychology. How could've I possibly missed that.

Because you’re really really dumb. We’ve established this already

All stoppages matter!!

Hurts extension would take effect in 2024.  Not sure how that is impacted by DT or DE contracts, the dead money is already there that will be there from Cox and Graham.  A Hargrave extension would just move the dead money further along.  Suh and Joseph aren’t coming back.

I know, I'm agreeing with you that I'm really dumb for not believing in the magical effects a game stoppage had on only one of the two teams instead of far more objective and quantifiable performance indicators. I should've never doubted your clearly superior intellect. It's pretty embarrassing, to be honest.

By this logic, our 2017 season was an outlier too. If it gets us in striking distance to relive that experience again, I'll gladly take an outlier.

Long shots sometimes win, but you won't get rich playing the long shots consistently.    When the long shot wins and you bet big... it does feel amazing though!

The NFL seems to be mostly long shots these days.  Outside of the Patriots... there's been very little in the way of repeat appearances in the Super Bowl.   Chiefs, Denver, Seattle.  That's about it going back to the turn of the century.  Everyone else is basically a completely different cast of characters from one appearance to the next.  So, I guess it's really all about going all in on any given year, because the next real opportunity is going to be a completely different group anyway.   And I suppose, that's what the NFL really wants... and that's what we have.  Parity across the league.   Some teams are perennially at the bottom from bad management, but very very few teams can maintain any kind of longevity at the true top based on how things are structured.

Maybe you should actually read those articles I posted. Instead of knee jerk reacting to them. Though, you may want to get them read to you, because you know, you’re so dumb

You know how many SB Brady and Belicheck have won when they had "no WRs"?  I know you wont answer but don't act like you wont read this.

That's true.  But this isn't the same Brady as that one either.  I think he's finally had Father Time catch up to him.

Also, that division is far more talented now than they were in the entirety of Brady’s run there.

Right, with this logic, you'd basically try to blame halftime for occurring if a team plays better or worse in the second half of a game, rather than crediting or blaming the team's performance itself.

"Damn, sucks that halftime happened otherwise we totally would've won that game!"
