Has anyone not noticed how every Nationals prospect is "the second coming of Babe Ruth"? Every one. And they all disappoint. Except Harper, but he was known since he was like 15 years old, long before drafted by the Nats. Strasburg, who was never more than a #3 starter, Anthony Rendon who was overhyped, Michael Taylor who flat out sucks, Victor Robles who was supposed to be a phenom and sucks, Juan Soto who got traded and people likened him to Ted Williams and Griffey - goes to the Padres and sucked. And Turner is just another. He's a slap hitter who doesn't have a ton of power, likely won't age well because he relies on speed, and his numbers are going to be inflated by stat agencies because he plays in LA.

Mike Rizzo exchanges inside information for positive press on his prospects from reporters. And people fall for it. Every time. Suckers.

And to give this dude 11 freaking years at age 29? Absolutely ridiculous man.

This is a Howie special with alot of dead money in the end. But who cares? Not my money. He will be pretty good for 7 of those years and can move to 2nd or outfield. Getting him for about $27M is not too bad in this crazy market. Can't go into the season with Sosa and Stott as middle infield. Plus, it brings other free agents here as well to compete for a World Series. Farm system stinks with position players, so this is what we have to do.

Turner is a top 15 player, at any position, in the league.  Maybe even top 10.  Hits for average, gives you 20 and 40, and scores a ton of runs.

Ha. Starting to think, they just told Covey to catch the ball and fall this whole time. Turner just throw gasoline onto the fire that's already the Phils offense.  He's an absolute stud. 

The only danger of that one is that they'll be paying him until he's 41 and I don't think he'll age well.  Phils will still get probably 4-5 good / great seasons from him.  The window for a championship is probably the next 4-5 seasons.  Phils need to get Rodon now.

 

 

OH and getting Turner also just pissed off the Dodgers, so there's that.
