Cool so it’s exactly what i said leading up to the draft that if the eagles didn’t select Jefferson it would be cause they viewed him as a slot receiver and with 2 tight ends (lesser ward too) (howie’s overall quote discussed this) he wasn’t as good of a fit as reagor who was an outside WR that had speedzzzz. Meanwhile they got it wrong with Jefferson cause he could play slot and the outside. Which multiple people and draft analyst on the board said leading up to the draft he could

here’s the actual quote

I'm gonna be a real scumbag here and slant this narrative to read "Howie didn't draft Justin Jefferson because we already had Greg Ward" .... thanks Ward, ffs.

Ward's "really good year in the slot" that he was coming off of in 2019 was 30 catches for 250 yards. So apparently he didn't view that could be upgraded 🙄

We'll always have Washington  😥

I'm just glad you didn't use a screenshot from that 4th-and-goal play where he fired the pass 6 rows deep into the crowd .....

Josh Allen at 5 is a choice. Hurts behind Marcus Mariota is absurd. Do not understand how Daniel Jones is in the top 30.

I can't really argue with Allen behind with Herbert, Mahomes, Rodgers and Brady.  Herbert is the only one of those that hasn't proven as much but he's a better passer than Allen.  The numbers from 12 on are kind of a mish mash.  They have Wentz below Jones which makes no sense.  They have Cousins below Lawrence and Matt Ryan and Kyler Murray above Stafford.

I’m still on the McNabb thing. Where’d Skippy run off to?

During McNabb’s prime Brad Johnson, Jake Delhomme, Matt Hasselbeck, and freakin Rex Grossman represented the NFC in the Super Bowl. That should tell you how far the QB position has come in 15 years. So much more parity.

McNabb definitely came up short many times, but we weren’t finding anyone better. Not even close.

He also cherry picked 3 seasons, and then ignored all context surrounding those seasons. He's likely in the Hurts thread, on his knees, waiting....

Jefferson was viewed as slot, because they can't scout WRs.

So quez is the PR according to the depth chart

Taking season predictions up until Saturday, so get your Win/Loss plus a year long prediction if you want to and haven't done it.

Also feel free to start giving your weekly score predictions. Sticking with the same format as last year. Give a final score plus an optional weekly bonus prediction. Just make sure to tag me in your post.

I predict the Eagles will get a win or loss each week, except in the case that they and their opponent have the same score after regulation, followed by the OT period ending as well with the same score.   But, that is the only exception I predict for having each game end with either an Eagles Win/loss.

Thanks!

Wait, Davis isn't starting? I guess the draft isn't the place to get a good DT if you want to win now.

It matters b/c of snaps. The starting QB gets the lion share of practice snaps, but if you keep Rudolph, you limit Pickett's snaps in practice b/c you have to prepare Rudolph to step in if needed. And Rudolph isn't cheap, having him on the roster for game 1 guarantees his salary:

Mason Rudolph signed a 1 year, $5,080,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including a $2,080,000 signing bonus, $2,080,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,080,000. In 2022, Rudolph will earn a base salary of $3,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $4,040,000 and a dead cap value of $1,040,000.

Or you limit Rudolph and work to get Pickett up to speed to take the job from Rudolph, and ultimately from Trubisky.   Pickett is their long term investment, and they are going to do whatever they need to in order to develop him.  He might even get reps with the first team as well.   But, not throwing him to the wolves as the starter, or even in spot duty as the backup is a long-term approach that many organizations have moved away from due to the impatience of their front office.  The Steelers don't practice that.  They stick with their coaches for a long time, and don't bow to outside pressures to make changes.

Nick Sirianni and the Eagles seem like the type of coaching staff who just discovered the whole "keeping things close to the vest" idea and are just running wild with it.  I wonder if Nick covers his hand after he throws down R P or S to cover it up for a split second, to be sure his competitor doesn't get the jump on him.

Yes, because this contest is going to be so tight, that we can't have the Lions knowing who is going to be calling fair catch on punts.

This team is run by a bunch of dopes.

Jack Driscoll…? Am I reading too much into that?

We did get Smith.

Then again he must have been easy to scout.

Still, glad we broke that spell with him.

If I’m the opposing coach I’m not losing sleep over either of those potential returners.

But of those 4, Quez is probably the biggest threat while Boston is probably the safest. Just my meaningless take from the toilet.

Yes. I don't think Seumalo is on social media but he's in the video.

Competitive advantage. :smoke:

Except that the third QB tends to run the scout team so he will be getting snaps. Rudolph isn’t going to be seeing a lot of snaps as the #2.

Well in his defense, Andy Reid could be a Jekyll and Hyde type coach. I feel like there’s been a few Chief games over the past 5-6 years where I’m like OK there’s good ole Eagles AR trying to outsmart himself

Bill Buckner flubs the ball.

The umpire says the batter was out of the box so its a strike and a do over.

Buckner flubs it again.

That was McNabb in the SB with his pick do-over pick.

Reid built 5 teams that were good enough to win and McNabb never had that Aikman, Flacco, Foles type playoff run to finish the deal.

He was rarely even Brad Johnson stay out of his own way level good in the playoffs.
