Dave Dombrowski said unlikely they pursue a guy like Rodon because they don't want to sign two guys who got qualifying offers because of the draft picks they'd have to surrender.

All the more reason to hate the Turner move. They should have targeted Correa who didn't have a QO. And is a better player to begin with. Someone who is also younger and will age better most likely because his game doesn't rely on speed.

So, the Phillies will likely pursue an average pitcher like Taillon(who is probably going to get 20+m per year) who is vastly inferior to Rodon. And btw Eflin is a better pitcher than Taillon to begin with, so they should've just kept Eflin. But essentially, because of the Phillies obsession with getting Turner, they are getting inferior players at each position they're targeting.

Correa and Rodon vs Turner and Taillon. The former is the best at each position, and the far better choice.

Not surprised. Stafford done for the year and who knows what he does long term. I wouldn’t be surprised if Stafford retires this offseason. Apparently his wife has wanted him to in the past with his back injuries and now concussions. I really wouldn’t be shocked if he did. I don’t think he does but i don’t think it’s a slam dunk he comes back especially if the rams oline doesn’t get fixed.

Dr Chao speculated that Stafford’s neck injury is career threatening.

yeah saw that article too. I think it’s close to 50-50 he returns if his health allows for it. I know there’s been a lot of speculation that his wife really wants him to retire.

i think mcvay looks at it as if he gets baker can play him for last 4 games of the year (after this Thursday night game). If he plays well in the 4 games under mcvay they likely try to keep him this offseason if Stafford retires. Im guessing they also look to draft and develop a young Qb

What’s amazing about his whole gripe is there’s rumors the Yankees no. 1 target has been rodon and willing to drop a boatload for him. So there’s no guarantee rodon comes here if they go after Correa. So you might get Correa and taillon at that point.

also turner and rodon were teammates and good friends in college. Their wives are best friends. So better chance at convincing rodon to come here over NY with turner in the fold even if Dom saying what he did. I believe if the price was right he’d go after rodon even with the QO picks

Skipped the tickets for now

If you are in Chicago wait til game day and closer to the game. Some bears fans would unload them knowing they suck and it’s likely cold and they don’t want to go

Did Turner bang your old lady or what?

We owe Jon Robinson a sincere heartfelt thank you.    I feel bad he lost his job over it, but we all know Howie 's track record drafting WR's. So without the help from Jon Robinson, we would NEVER have a WR the caliber of Brown.

Devonta Smith not withstanding, Devonta is a pretty good WR, but he will never be an AJ Brown.

I have a feeling that by the end of their respective careers, people will look back and think that Smith was the better player.

Get it done Bryce!!

They said last year after signing schwarber they weren’t gonna go into the luxury tax. Then all the sudden cause castellanos was there and price was right they did it. Dom saying things cause he has to and doesn’t want to show his cards in case it starts playing out in his favor

This is so true, more than I ever thought possible and it goes for almost every single sporting event.

I have a friend who went to a Nats playoff game with friends and he had no tickets, he just has balls of steel when it comes to haggling and he ALWAYS gets tickets.

We went to a hockey game one time and the scalpers knew his name.  He has the Walk Away option in his back pocket and it works every time.  Those scalpers don't want to be left with tickets in hand.

Chargers repeating history. It’s week 14 and amazingly Williams and Allen have played 1 game together this year. They lost their left tackle and their center for some games, they are 31st in rushing and Staley is a bad coach. Add on playing with a fractured rib

Breakfast of champions (and a few years off my life). Double loaded hash browns with a side of bacon and a large orange juice (hey, something has to be healthy) at Waffle House.  Wife refers to it as my cardiac special but I tend to have it once a long road trip.  Developed the taste for it at the Waffle House right before the turnoff for Lehigh for Eagles TC with my son and whatever friend we had in tow.   Man I miss those Lehigh days.

We have about 400 waffle houses within a 10 miles radius of my house here in Mint Hill, and after rewatching an old episode of Anthony Bourdain in Charleston (where he goes to the Waffle House), it's time for me to get extremely inebriated soon and order all the hash browns.

Unless it’s a big time game like what Dallas/eagles can be in week 16 or unc/Duke and games of that nature I’d wait til game day and closer to start time. Usually scalpers begin trying to unload so they aren’t stuck with tickets and get nothing for them. The bears/eagles is going to be like that

Signing him is going to cost you a shot at Rodon. Kind of a big deal.

I’d rather draft an elite pass rusher than trade back. Maybe trade our pick at end of 1st Rd.

THIS  ^^^

After Chip left, Howie was asked about the Jackson and McCoy moves.  He said that it's hard to find talent and you shouldn't let it get away.

We shouldn't ever pick this high again.  Grab the elite talent when you can.

I wonder how serious the rumors were about vrabel and Ohio state. Maybe the titans also saw that might be a realistic move in the upcoming years and figured if we give him more power (probably more money too) he’s more likely to stay then leave for Ohio state.

It's not a LT issue, it's a draft picks issue. If it was just money I think they'd be in play for Rodon. But all indications are they don't want to keep sacrificing more picks, especially since their farm system is thin. We shall see.

Bring him home.
