You’ve heard of Dombrowski before, right?

I'm telling you what he said and what's being reported. Gelb, Salisbury and DD himself have all said pursuing qualifying offer guys isn't happening. If you're right and they sign Rodon and this is all posturing then I'll crown you baseball guru of the year.

Good idea.  Worked for Chip.

Yeah i think the titans are screwed either way. Henry looks like he’s slowing down. Who knows what willis is (not looking great at the moment). They have a so-so oline. And burks is really the only offensive skill position player i think that has high upside. Defensively their secondary has been bad this year. If they didn’t play in the afc south i don’t think their future is very optimistic but they’ll keep making the playoffs until one of the jags, colts and Texans finally figure their crap out.

Probably fake twitter accounts that paid for blue checks reported that. Gelb, Salisbury and DD are just saying that to make it over-hyped for the story when they sign Rodon.

I’m not saying they will sign Rondon.  But you brought up Rondon during one of your anti Turner rants.  If the Phillies want Rondon they can get him. You don’t not get Turner because you want Rondon down the road.  That’s silly.

But Correa is a better player than Turner to begin with. I'm not saying they should have not signed Turner nor anyone else. I'm saying they should have focused their attention on Correa. Not having to sacrifice your pick was one of the positives to signing Correa, along with him being a great player. They can of course still decide to sign Rodon, but if they signed Correa they'd be far better positioned to do it.

This is more pro signing Correa than anything else, my anti Turner-isms aside. I think Correa is the best SS in baseball and will age better because he relies less on speed, has more power, and is better defensively. Add in the draft pick aspect and him being younger and I think going after him was a no brainer. Gelb said Correa was their 2nd choice behind Turner. My hunch is Harper's desire for Turner was what tipped the scales, because Middleton basically does whatever Harper wants. Harper a few years ago: "JT Realmuto is my favorite player in baseball" and they traded for JT even before they signed Harper. Last year: "It'll be pretty disappointing if we don't go over the tax" and Middleton reverses course and decides to go over the tax after he instructed Dombrowski to not go over. When Harper wants something, he gets it.

And they got Turner at a 'discount' compared to what the Padres offered.  Let's see what Correa gets in FA.  If he gets more than Turner... then you have your answer.

And the FA period isn't over yet.  Maybe wait until all the shoes hit the floor before crying that the sky is falling.

Bring him home.

He's not very good, but the insurance and familiarity with the scheme might make it worthwhile.

Chargers repeating history. It’s week 14 and amazingly Williams and Allen have played 1 game together this year. They lost their left tackle and their center for some games, they are 31st in rushing and Staley is a bad coach. Add on playing with a fractured rib

Watching Herbert is reminiscent of watching Stafford in those early years. Gutsy player that will fly under the radar because of a crappy team until a change of scenario (hopefully) allows him to flourish and play up to his full potential.

I guess this is the reason Titans fired their GM. AJ's performance obviously stung.  But looking at their WR core, the fact AJ out performed the whole unit is probably the straw that broke it.   It's wild because despite that loss, the Titans will win the Division and go the Playoffs for sure this year.

Maybe on the PS. No point in putting him on the active roster.

Chargers organization is great at wasting careers. Somehow they’ve had Bree’s followed with rivers followed with herbert and on pathway of having 1 afc title game to show for it. Amazing in their history they’ve had fouts, Brees, rivers and herbert yet Stan humphries is the one that got them to their only Super Bowl.

Well that's definitely a fake tweet. Would have gotten away with it if they didn't include "Quin had been coming on".

Draft pick well spent.

All that recruiting for nothing. He got a free meal and some Mavs tickets at least!

He might be a better fielder, but to say he's the better player is subjective.  I know you'll bring up WAR.  But Turner beats him in OBP, OPS, BA.

You def are saying they shouldn't have signed Turner....You flipped your crap when they did.  So that's exactly what you said.

We all know the JT, Harper story.  We're Phillies fans.  We also all know that Harper gets what he wants.  That's obvious at this point.

Oh, one more thing that makes Turner a better option than Correa.......Turner isn't a FING CHEATER!!!!!!!

What about RPS???

Lol who could’ve seen that coming. Second ACL and it happened in February last year. If he did return he was likely going to no where close to what people think of him and more likely to hurt himself. If he was able to play down the stretch he would’ve signed way earlier.

I am saying they shouldn't have signed Turner, but also saying I wanted Correa. I won't counter with WAR, but I'll say that Turner will turn 30 in June. His average dropped pretty significantly over the last year. His average against the 4 seam fastball dropped by 50+ points. Could be a sign approaching 30 that his swing is in decline. Correa on the other hand hit better in 2022 than 21, so there's no indication that he's in any sort of decline. When you're committing massively long-term deals, these things need to be taken into account.

Also, Turner career postseason average is .228 and you're coming off a World Series where the entire lineup disappeared.

No, you misunderstood what I meant. I'm not saying they shouldn't have signed Turner nor anyone else. Meaning, I didn't say they shouldn't have signed other SS's outside of Turner.

"You don’t not get Turner because you want Rondon down the road.  That’s silly." Is what you said. And I was saying my point wasn't that if they didn't sign Turner that they shouldn't have signed anyone else. You made it sound like it was Turner or nobody. You can be ok with not getting Turner if you're able to get Correa.

Now maybe Correa ends up getting 10 years 450 million rendering all of this moot. We'll see.
