I’ve gone to multiple games without tickets in hand. Always found some before kickoff. LA, SD, SF, Phoenix and Vegas I’ve always found a scalper trying to dump them off before kickoff. Then again if it’s a big game I’d do the same as you and not risk it. 

that bears game if i was going to Chicago anyway for a vacation I’d wait. Bears fans aren’t going to go to that game and sit in that weather for a really bad team.

I'm this way too -- if I am traveling, I can't deal with the added BS. I did go to the 1st Giants/Patriots SB without tickets (flew into Phoenix on Friday). But a broker was taking me, and he was getting the tickets.

I went to Game 4 of the Phillies/Jays WS with no ticket. Scalped a solid 500 level seat just outside 3rd base. That was the 15-14 game. Fing Mitch.
