Gannon wants to say more but holds his cards a bit.  On CGJ, he said when he is ready, he’ll play.

Shane got the best question. Will he miss JimBob’s game management. Coachspeak answer but good question.

After years with rival Eagles, veteran tackle Jason Peters now loves Cowboys' 'swagger'

Jason Peters, the former longtime all-world left tackle of the Eagles has now signed with the Dallas Cowboys after spending 11 of his previous 12 NFL seasons in Eastern Pennsylvania - battling the Cowboys tooth and nail.

The deal became official on Labor Day, just ahead of practice, and the six-time All-Pro explained how things went from him once voicing his displeasure for the "arrogant" Cowboys to readying to suit up for them in 2022, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys official website reports.

"Man, I don't really call it arrogance," Peters explained. " I mean, they had swagger - pretty much the same thing. The swagger, they'll go in week in and week out with that swagger, you can tell how the defense plays. Dak and Zeke, scoring and everybody [wearing] their emotions on their shoulders. I mean I like that to be honest.

Of course, there will be some who view that as a backpedal worthy of the defensive back room, but it's neither here nor there in the grand scheme of NFL players who once believed they'd never strap on the helmet of any particular club before, later in their career, doing just that.

Just ask Brett Favre, as one example of many.

As for Peters, a native of East Texas who is seeing his football career come full circle in 2022, the union with his once-bitter rival is a special one that also keeps him near his loved ones.

"I'm excited," said the nine-time Pro Bowler. "This is my home state, so it's good to be back playing amongst family every week."

That said, he readily admits playing in Cowboys colors will take a moment to get accustomed to, but also that he chose Dallas over several other clubs that came calling this offseason.

"Umm, yeah, a little bit. Like I said, that was our rivalry," said Peters. "You know the Dallas and Eagle rivalry goes deep so it's kind of weird but I'm here in my home state and ready to roll. … I had a few opportunities with some teams but like I was telling my agent, they like to go youth over age so I was just weighing my options and then when this came up, my home state, I couldn't pass it up.

"To play for the Cowboys - two hours from my hometown. "

Yeah but his early years he easily made the playoffs with very little help. When receivers and QBs could still get killed

This is mostly false. You don't carry a team with a 45 QB rating. (again, look at the game logs) Those teams had lots of talent on O-line, RB, and defense. They had Reid and JJ. Just because you don't have great WRs does not mean you did it alone.

McNabb did some things well (mostly his early running) and he made some highlight reel plays.

He did have to carry the offense in last 11 games of that Darnell Autry year (2000 maybe?) Even that year he was mostly a bystander in the pickle juice game.

When you are winning games 16-13, 13-9, and 16-7 the defense also has something to do with it.

The 2001 D never gave up more than 21 points until the NFCCG and that was 29 counting a free 7 from fumbles McNabb on the first drive. McNabb lost 13-3 twice that year.

Get ahold of that 2002 week 7 Giants game if you can. I've rarely seen worse QB play but Westbrook wins it on a punt return 14-10.

The one stat he did have was regular season QB wins.

  • Koy 1-0
  • AJ 4-1
  • Garcia 5-1 (2006)

It seems they won without him at a higher rate. Did Koy and AJ also carry the team in 2002 or was it just a really good team?

That eventually changed in 2007 with Feely coming back and then putrid Mike McMahon

I know McNabb was better than Kevin Kolb. Dies that make him great?

In those 5 knockout games under Reid and McNabb, Number 5 had 13 turnovers (9 picks and 4 fumbles). That's on who exactly?

If Hurts goes on to have 13 turnovers in 4 NFCCG losses and a SB loss would you call him a great player?

cant write this comedy

AFan has always been supportive of the Eagles.  You are making too much about the rookie comment early last year.  It was a comment that reflects the difference between live play for the position, which is reasonable in development.  Different QBs develop at different rates and some plateau earlier.  Aaron Rodgers today is a far cry from Aaron Rodgers as a rookie but also quite distant from Rodgers when he replaced Favre.  You can disagree with AFan, I do quite often. But there is some level of reasoning to his posts and it often stimulates some football discussion.  His cap comments about Rudolph as a vested veteran on the roster week 1 made a lot sense whether Rudolph is the #3 or #2.

If Hurts makes 4 NFCCG I'll eat my underwear.

You keep cherry picking individual games. Anybody can do that, watch:

14/31 129 yards, 3 INTs, 17.5 rating

12/26 115 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 55.8 rating

22/37 198 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 62.7 rating

Quite a few confusing ones on there. Broncos at #19 is too low. I think Dolphins and Vikings is too low also.

The issue I have with that Afan post was he was boasting about how it's not smart to try and get a QB in the draft if you want to win now. It's been pointed out that the Steelers aren't in a "win now" mode. 2nd, he was basing this off of the website's depth chart, which was quickly noted to be not based in reality, but just PR nonsense. And that the reality of the situation was that Pickett is in fact the #2, regardless of what the Steelers website posts.

Afan was very quickly proven wrong (as Pickett was officially named #2), and of course, we hear nothing but crickets from him. It's why it's often frustrating to talk with him, because he makes outlandish claims (not far removed from Bacarty level) and then doesn't answer when called out on them.

Anything that might lead to some level of guesswork might be a small bit of a competitive edge. It seems like nonsense but if Epps has to prepare for five returners instead of focusing on one, maybe just a sliver of an advantage is enjoyed. Sometimes that can be enough.

C'mon, not naming your returner offers no advantage at all. It's really dumb, and it makes the coaches sound dumb. With how neutered the return games are now, it's even more meaningless.

What do you mean? There's zero shot they actually punt to Covey when he ends up the guy back there. He's electric!

What if the Lions are set to punt, and out trots Jordan Mailata. Our new sooper weapon punt returner. Dan Campbell and the Lions see flashbacks of Mailata's Rugby tape and a little pee trickles down their leg. They frantically call a time out because they have no idea what to do.

Checkmate, Sirianni.

If im the other team hearing that im just laughing because it makes us sound hesitant and unsure of the whole team going into Sunday.

You really don’t like McNabb. Just say it.

In 2003 Steve McNair and Peyton were co-MVPs. Peyton had 29 passing TDs while McNair had 24. There’s no way an NFL QB is earning any kind of accolades with those TD numbers in today’s league, let alone a league MVP. I’m too lazy to look up the yards.

I don’t deny that McNabb choked and got in his own head way too often, but the Eagles were not a perennial contender without him in the early 2000’s.

Did you guys see a bunch of jellyfish at Topsail when you were there?  We went to Wrightsville yesterday and I got zapped twice.  I haven't been stung by a jellyfish in 30 years.  So I checked online and apparently there's been a massive swarm off the coast of NC for the last month.

I saw more than usual but did not get stung.  Apparently there were more towards the southern end of the island.  There have been reports of problems around the New Hanover County beaches all summer.
