Teams played some cover-3 against us early in the season and we BBQ'd them with Brown on slants. I feel like the one route that Hurts struggles to hit consistently is the seam, so cover-2 might be a better option.

Cover two is vulnerable deep wide though

threr forces him to throw the seam where i agree he is weaker

No, you play your run keys and then get to your zone. You don’t just run to the zone while looking into the backfield.

This is why play-action passes are much more effective than straight drop backs. It creates huge gaps and stresses coverage rules.

You can have the SS in the box and drop into cover 2, but good luck getting your correct depth vs. play action. Tue reason cover 3 is better for run defense is that if it’s PA, you aren’t asking your SS to to do much beyond get to a spot in the flat.

And with your delayed drops, your CBs are at massive risk of getting beat outside. Way too much to ask of your CBs which is why coaches like Schwartz had poor pass defenses. It's poison to their ability to play the pass.

Again, don't take my word for it, this is actually what we're doing every week. Look at Scott's coverage depth compared to his pre-snap alignment.

Only team i think that’s worse is tampa/Carolina. Even that i think Minnesota would be in a dogfight with either

How are the Vikings 10-3?

Hope they hold the 2 seed even though it won't happen.

Attack? No, the C2 safety will get cooked just reading the play from the box which is what you are proposing. Now if you’re showing defenders in the box, but they immediately bail - then they aren’t really in a position to come downhill once they read the run, right?

Bailing? They're taking a step or two as they read the play, just as Scott did in the video above. He seemed to get to his deep third zone just fine despite being in the box pre-snap.

Wait what. The Vikings are getting smashed

Yes, C3 can be weak against the pass - but it has strength against the run… tradeoffs.

They lose a tiebreaker with the niners at the moment due to the niners having a better conference record. Frankly niners are gonna smoke Vikings whether it was in Minnesota or SF. Minnesota as the 3 easily could lose to lions/Washington/giants/Seahawks in that game. Means Dallas as the 5 would have to go to SF

Deep 3rd, Cover 2 - enough.

Thats not a scheme issue thats bradberry biting when he has to maintain deep discipline

However it plays out that is my hope so the Eagles won't have to play both.

We ran inverted cover 3 on that play, but it's a clear example to show a DB can drop to their deep zone just fine from a disguised pre-snap look. Watch the video... How delayed was his drop after the snap?

That's not at all what I'm talking about. I'm referring to Scott's drop post-snap. Bradberry biting is a different issue.

Seahawks and Giants wouldn't be able to go into Minnesota and win.  Vikings look bad in this game but both Seahawks and Giants have been dead fish flopping out of water for weeks now.

Have you ever noticed how from some camera angles, the Vikings uniforms look blue while from other angles they are clearly purple?

Really interested in who comes away with the 7th seed. Feels like a two team race between Seattle and Detroit right now.

. Hopefully Seattle or Giants get it.  Lions are dangerous.  We should obviously beat them in Philly but they are one of the few offenses capable of keeping up with us.

Exactly, he has to hit the hole throw behind the CB but in front of the S, or split them with a seam to Goedert. You're basically banking him being unable to hit those throws consistently over the course of a game, or better yet, he misreads it as 2 Man Under and checks it down, or thinks it's Tampa-2 and throws a pick to the mike thinking the slant/dig is open after thee WR clears the front side backer.

No one wants Detroit to make the playoffs, they can out score a lot of teams

Colts offense gonna throw this game away

Cause Minnesota has looked great in games against the bears, saints or colts who arguably worse? They are losing to the colts at home who’ve looked like crap most of the year. Heck minnesota could've lost to the jets of their coaches just sneak the ball. Heck the bears went into Minnesota and if it wasn’t for a bad penalty call on a Justin fields td they should’ve been ahead 26-21 so would’ve had a chance to tie the game late in a field goal. Heck the bears were ahead of Minnesota with 3 mins left in that game. Vikings struggled with the cardinals who have been crap most of the year

I wouldn’t take the Giants or Seattle, but those two teams definitely have a chance because it’s not like Minnesota is killing the Saints, the Bears.

actually going to see what the giants can do against Minnesota as they go to Minnesota next week. I’d still take the Vikings but I don’t think it’s impossible for them to win. Worse teams have had chances in Minnesota
