Yup. Also that's an injury where extra rest actually benefits him because rest/time/healing is the only way to get back. Can't rehab a lacerated kidney.

Not with that attitude

I’m assuming they like to give him some game snaps before the playoffs so he’s not going in missing 6 weeks of games and also an extra week of time off with the bye. I’d say giants game he has a chance for limited plays but even that i see them being more cautious giving him those 2 weeks off and the bye given the game may not have any meaning.

Agree for sure on Wallace. It's Reed left knee causing him bother. Haven't heard anything about CGJ, fingers crossed that's true

Maybe they rest him until the playoffs start if they win Saturday like @e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! said

The wear and tear is what I am mostly concerned about.  The freak injuries happen to all QBs.  But, they can bounce back from the ACLs, etc normally.  But, RBs that get over the magic 350 carries mark wear down within a season or two.  They don't get a true 'career ending injury', they just become ineffective.  Where's that line for QBs?  Eagles might be flirting with it, might even have already passed it.   And when looking for precedent to determine where it is... there's Cam Newton (who had a very similar style to Hurts) who never approached that number of carries and there's Lamar Jackson who has the number of carries, but a different running style.  Neither one gives me much confidence for continued success long term with this usage of Hurts, both in volume and in type of runs.

If this is the coming evolution of the New NFL QB, so be it. Cyclic changes can be effective, some even last. The days of Brady standing tall in the pocket every play may be ending. Attacking the edges has become a real threat and having an additional ballcarrier with passing options may be (seemingly already is) the new Def Co-ord's nightmare.

There is no doubt the RO and RPO attack works. Look at Parsons holding his jock last time, unblocked and nobody to tackle....

If that's the New Norm, we have a guy best built for the job. Strong, smart, committed.

The Big Hat Guys will figure that into the equation, adjust contracts accordingly, Actuarials will get their say and QB life may be reduced to 3-5 years, a New definition of Franchise Guy.

To loosely paraphrase the Great Philosopher, Bob Dylan, " The Times, they are a Changin"...

I think playing starters for the first half from here on out is the way to go. Best mix of keeping guys sharp but allowing for rest

That's a 3rd round pick for a guy who is a free agent at the end of the year. It's a risk. I'd be willing to be a lot of money that he gets more than $2M. Heck, Matt Pryor got a 1 year $5M conteract.

The big thing working against Dillard is that he has been injured a bunch. I also don't see a lot of spots where a team is going to pencil him in as a starter.

Pryor and Big V got the contracts they did because they were viewed as starters.

So unless a team sees him as a clear starter, the discussion becomes how much is a backup tackle worth?

Maybe they are... maybe they really aren't.  For me though, there is a danger to being on the very cutting edge of it all, because the QB salaries right now are so astronomical that they really are becoming an albatross around the neck for most teams that have the highest paid guys.  And adding to that a guy that might not be as effective as he was when he earned the contract by the time the meat of the contract comes due... 😬

Time will tell.

We're getting slammed with Flu cases at the office recently. I'm kinda surprised we haven't seen more players miss time because of it.

How anyone could view Pryor as a starter is beyond me.  I think a team is likely to pay more for Dillard than Pryor.  He may take a one year deal somewhere just to have an opportunity to start and turn that into a bigger money contract.

Say Anderson, Carter, Bresee, and Miles Murphy all gone with Saints pick... Where you going with that pick?

Yup, we had an elementary school in our district shut down because so many teachers were sick as well as subs.

Last day before spring break I was sick as we're my 3 kids, called into the school and they said don't worry so many kids are sick were not sure why we keep doors open.

Stay safe out there peeps.

Thanks.

As I said, if the trend would be to move towards a more vulnerable but active QB, contracts would begin to reflect that.

Incentives, shorter terms, More money guaranteed up front with easy outs after a couple years, etc.

Just noodling here but current QB contracts hamstring a team. Tipping point being approached.

These numbers guys aren't blind. They know it is not sustainable if they want to field a Contender perennially...

Am I crazy for thinking it's possible that if it ended up this way, that either Wash or NY Gints could pull off the upset?   San Fran is good, but their schedule was nothing special in fact was easier than the Birds.

I thought for lack of talent the bears had they did a good job in the first half. I don’t think the eagles played their best half from hurts, oline and coaching definitely didn’t help. Fact sanders had 1 carry on the first 27 minutes is just dumb against an awful run defense. I thought last drive of the first half the oline began began taking it to the bears.

The Bears did better because the Eagles did worse on a key statistical measurement … turnovers.
