Lost in all of this is that Dallas has as little to play for as we do.  Ditto New Orleans.  Their playoff fares are set.

The Giants, however, may be fighting for a playoff spot in week 18.  Let’s not create a situation where week 18 is the one we rely on with all starters to secure the 1 seed.

I bet the Eagles see more fight from the Giants in week 18 than either Cowboys or Saints.

Dallas still has an outside shot at the division and even the #1 overall seed.

The frustrating thing is that the Eagles/Coaches did this to themselves!  When Wentz got hurt our Super Bowl year, he was definitely mobile and would take off, but it wasn't on designed run after designed run.  This coaching staff played Russian Roulette calling designed runs, on a frozen field time after time and lost.  This isn't hindsight, this isn't Monday Morning QB'ing, this is just the fact of them putting Hurts in harms way.  When your QB has more designed runs than your 1,000 yard running back....well, that is sheer stupidity.

A cynical person could assume that the injury is not as severe as stated and that Hurts could play this weekend, but the FO chose to:

  • Keep Hurts off the same field as Parsons, who may have been on a mission.
  • Give Minshew a whole week of work with the one's, just in case Hurts has to leave a game during the playoffs.
  • Provide an excuse for us to play our starters against the Saints.

What about the 'not showing' a potential playoff opponent all our secrets angle... this was discussed on the radio prior to the injury being announced.

you underestimate Howie's drafting ability- now we see Hurts get hurt, it's time to draft another QB with a 1st-3rd rd pick.

Hurts not only finished the game, but was dropping dimes downfield AFTER the hit. He could play this weekend - but why risk it? We can easily beat either the Saints or the Giants even without Hurts.  We only need one WIN out of the next 3.

And yes we want to beat the saints for the higher draft pick. 🙂

But Call me crazy, I think we can win on Saturday with Minshew at QB with our D and Oline.

Technically yes- but not with McCarthy as HC they wont. They have to win out and we have to lose out.   I'd put those odds at about .05998% chance of happening.

Cue so you're saying theres a chance. LOL

Maddox’s usage Sunday is really interesting moving forward. Watching live, I didn’t realize he was a safety for every snap in the base defense. Being able to potentially use him interchangeably with CJGJ would make for a pretty versatile and matchup driven secondary.

I guess that settles it.  Josh Allen is the best QB in the NFL this year.  He's the only one I noticed with all positive values.

But, then it's Mahomes... because his scores when added together produces the highest total.

Then again, maybe its Trubisky, because he's got the pretty red colors in his line.

The best is the one where all of the colors combined give you a nice purple color.

The Eagles definitely CAN win this week, especially with how banged up Dallas is.

The Eagles' defensive line could make a big difference.  Minshew will be able to get throws out to the WRs and over the middle.  They just have to be prepared to protect him up front.

Their shot at those things is basically directly tied to us not having those things.  So their motivation to tip their hand, risk injury, and play hard is basically the mirror image of ours.  And they likely aren’t getting that bye, so rest is even more important for them.

They have all the incentive we do to just pack it in.

I've only watched a few games with Richardson, but he doesn't throw the ball unless the receiver is WIDE open. Richardson has everything you want in a QB as far as size and mobility, but he greatly lacks passing abilities and would need a couple years of development before I'd feel comfortable with him out there. He is very frustrating to watch. He's a better runner than Willis because of his size and power, but I don't think he has the same potential as a passer. If teams wouldn't touch Willis until the 3rd round, I don't see why they would draft Richardson in the 1st. Kid is way too raw as a passer, he had a 33% completion rate in his last game. Yes, 33%. 54% on the season and had multiple games with single digit completions. This was the season he was supposed to showcase his ability as a passer, and I don't think his stats show much improvement over last year.

Do we really think we're going QB early in the draft?

Literally nobody is talking about the Eagles drafting a QB.

Yet @SkippyX said that Steve Young and John Elway were both running QB’s.  So what’s the problem?

Yep.  Steve Young career high carries in a season, 76.

Jalen Hurts has 156 through 14 games, and now is going to miss several games.

Hurts, 11.1 per game

Young, 4.7 per game

One of these things is not like the other.

Lol

I don’t think they’ll necessarily pack it in since statistically they are still alive for the 1 seed, but there is huge incentive to stay at the 5 seed and have their first game be against Tampa or whoever wins that disaster division. They’d be totally fine having to go on the road as the 5 seed against the NFC South winner.

What are peoples thoughts on Jordan Davis right now? I figured he would start off slow and show his value later in the season. He's been playing about 20% of the snaps, and Joseph has been getting much more playing time. Is the ankle injury still nagging him or is his head still spinning? He hasn't recorded a stat I see in the last 3 weeks.

It's actually an announcement for 94 WIP NFTs. Only $99!

Drafting a CB in RD1 who can play inside or outside, is now on the table.

He had toned that down quite a bit the last couple years.   Of all the show I have listened to over the 20+ years I have done Philly sports shows, by far my favorite.

Dallas can still secure the division and #1 seed. The difference is that the eagles can afford to lose the game on Saturday bc they only have to win 1 out of 3 remaining.

I don't remember that part of the 80s and 90s I guess.

Good news.
