I haven't begun to look at draft prospects yet.  But, I am against the thought process that a draft pick should have immediate impact.   That's the kind of thinking that brought us the likes of Marcus Smith, Jerome McDougle and Jalen Reagor.  You are drafting for the future of the franchise, not the immediate season.  So, when evaluating a draft, you can't focus on the first year to determine the impact.   After one year, Danny Watkins started 12 games.  Good pick?  Of course not.  Bernard Williams started all 16 as well.

Fair points. But also fair points that drafting defensive ends and a WR there were not bad ideas. They just made bad picks. Totally different conversation if they take DeMarcus Lawrence instead of Marcus Smith or Justin Jefferson instead of Reagor.

Kinda my thinking. Kill two birds in that the pick can hopefully play rg on the cheap until Lane retires.

thats a big IF on going OL though. Much higher probability its defense imho

Way too soon to know for me.

Don't get me wrong we have to draft OL depth that has the potential for Stout to mold into starter material, but I don't think we'll have the roster this Spring to stash premium picks on the bench.  Semantically, you could argue that Paris Johnson might be the best player at 9 - pragmatically, I think there will be many players similarly graded at that point and roster holes will need to filled.

Depends on the position, to me.  You might be right though.  A lot of variables between now and then.

Right now we have 0 open roster spots, but decisions are coming.

  • Kearn for Siposs. My gut says Siposs might be done for the year, otherwise why get Kearn?
  • Ellis for Jackson. Ellis needs to be activated to play the rest of the year, as he's out of PS elevations.
  • Sermon for CGCJ in the playoffs. We'll need the roster spot, and teams won't be clamoring for Sermon by that point. They might want him now to play out the string.

Tyree Jackson will be replaced this off-season by an actual prospect at TE. It's also a good, and deep, TE class.

1. Because we needed a punter? Siposs is already on IR and his spot was taken by Goedert.

2. Leave Ellis on the PS. Elevations reset for the post season and will be unlimited.

3. Cut Sermon, IR Jackson. They are likely bringing Quinn back even though he's been underwhelming. If there's no other IR moves in these last few games I'd guess those two are the likely ones out.

This is why I stream games. Can enjoy them for free with no complication 👍🏻

Quinn is eligible to return for the Giants game. As long as he's reasonably good to go, they might have to give him some snaps there to give other guys and rest and let him work out issues.

At this point, who are we taking off the field for Quinn? On 3rd down, I think I'd take Cox off an put Graham inside but they won't do that.

Why is it mostly retired or about close to the end of their career players that will be honest about other players

I think you answered your own question.

That has been our configuration for the last 20 years.  The convection oven mode of the microwave isn’t used often but when we do use it it is a real blessing.

I use it quite a bit.  Love it.  Heats up faster than the big oven.    Also, it heats the rest of the house a little less than the big oven as well.

Someone has to make the tackles.  People keep pumping up TJ Edwards like he’s better than average   Keep in mind Alex Singleton lead the team in tackles last year.   All this says is we haven’t had ish at LB since Trotter   Yeah, Bradham and Meco sprinkled in, but not much else

Stewart Bradley was decent for about 2 seasons until he injured his knee.  Jordan Hicks was decent and probably a little better than Edwards.  Edwards is competent and not too much of a liability.  He's definitely not a consistently above average player.

Is there really any reason to bring him back?  The DL is eating right now.  Who's snaps are you giving to that bum?  I'm not disrupting a dominating pass rush to justify a trade.  Admit the mistake, cut him or keep him on IR.  Let the him watch from the sideline.

Why do we need to replace Jackson? We have three young, complementary TEs. If you wanna bring in an UDFA then sure, but I’d actually be angry if we use a draft pick on one

All true but it doesn't hurt to nail one now and again.

Some guys are just READY.

Of course.   My point is that the 'first year' contribution isn't the goal.  The goal should be 'first contract' contribution.

You still have to make the right pick.

Pick # 21 - Reagor - 31 catches for 396 yards and 1 td

Pick #22 - Justin Jefferson - 88 catches for 1400 yards ( Vikings rookie record and 3rd all time rookie season ) and 7 TD's.  He has backed that up with back to back 1600+ yard seasons and 17 more TD's.

You can draft for immediate impact and the future.

Obviously.  I was huge on the Jefferson bandwagon.   But, they were looking for a specific TYPE of WR, not just a WR.  They wanted a speed guy and so they focused on that and on immediate impact.  It blinded them to Jefferson and blinded them to the massive limitations in Reagor's game.

Big missed opportunity to start him in Minnesota.

How about that Jaguars offense being so dynamic with JaMycal Hasty having 1 carry for 13 yards and 1 catch for 2 yards :roll::roll::roll:

This is also why I hope they sign either Bradbury or another FA CB.  Teams have to realize positions they know how to draft.  Who is the last CB the Eagles drafted who really excelled?  The past 10 years have given us the following players in the draft.  Yes, I know there was a Chip Kelly era but even so, this is NOT a good track record at CB.

Jalen Mills was a decent #2 but even as a #2 he got beat.  He was a gamer and I loved him but he was far from solid at CB.  Prefer him much more at safety.

Rasul Douglas was another who was OK but would you call him a good draft pick?  He's been better as a non-Eagle.

Avonte Maddox?  Good slot CB, potentially a better safety.

Zech McPhearson?  OK ST player who has barely sniffed the field as a CB.

Sidney Jones?  NOPE

Blake Countess.  Another player who was better at safety.

Randall Evans. WHO?'

JaCorey Shepherd, biggest steal of the draft for a week.

Eric Rowe.  Remember him more for getting torched in SB52.  Still hanging around as a CB/S.

A lot of tweeners who are better suited at safety mixed in with others who are EHHH as CB2.

Sign/trade for a CB.
