True but I had no idea it gets to 32 and sometimes even below that

Not by me. Sometimes it gets to low 40's and then everyone's phone gets the alert warning of falling iguanas.

I have a rules question that has me confused. When the Eagles initially lined up to go for two points after their final touchdown, they did this goofy shifting around which inexplicably worked, as the Bears jumped offsides, moving the ensuing try to the one yard line. Fine.

On that play, Cam Jurgens was an eligible receiver, meaning that he had reported to the official. Otherwise he would be ineligible because he’s wearing a lineman’s number. Again, fine.

As the official is announcing the penalty, you can see Jurgens again motion to the ref that he’s eligible. Still, fine. But then the Eagles employ some more trickery, with Jurgens lining up over the ball before the entire line shifts over and he’s now the right guard. Hurts practically walks in from the one and the Eagles get their two points.

But isn’t it illegal for an eligible receiver to line up in a position where he’s in the middle of the formation like that? Or am I confused? I know the Patriots once did some trickery with lining guys up in a weird fashion in a playoff game that got everyone up in arms. Would this Jurgens move fall into this same sort of legal loophole?

Look again at the replay.  Jurgens reported as eligible during the penalty announcement.  He was anticipating the same play call.

Then the Eagles huddle and Hurts calls a different play.  Immediately, Mailata and Jurgens leave the huddle and look for the ref to change the eligible receiver from Jurgens to Mailata.  You then hear the ref announce that "68 is eligible".

How was everyone to the right of him lined up? If they were not on the line of scrimmage I guess they could argue he was lined up as a TE.

Dallas' only chance is to pressure Minshew all night. If the OL holds up I still think the Eagles win.

This is one of the few seasons where it feels like we match up well with Dallas.

"Even with "Sunday Ticket" moving to YouTube, the price is not expected to substantially decrease due to contracts with CBS and Fox, which carry the Sunday afternoon games. Viewers pay around $300-400 a season for the package, which averages 2 million subscribers.”

Someone brought up Jordan Davis the other day. It's kind of weird he lost his starting job as the Nose Tackle to Linval Joseph and has mostly been playing next to Joseph since he came back. Is the reasoning of using him this way injury related? Joseph had a good first game but hasn't seemed to be doing much since.

There are a lot of bad words now.  A list just came out from Stanford.  You might be surprised by the words on that list.

Thank goodness for streams 😆

Air Force +3.5 vs Baylor seems like a good bet. Baylor has lost 3 straight and now playing a team that runs the triple option in 20 mph winds and - 17 wind chill.

The play came in and they changed who would be the eligible receiver.   On the broadcast as they go into the huddle you can actually see Mailata signaling to the refs that HE is the eligible receiver for the 2 point conversion, and on the TV broadcast, I believe you can actually hear the ref making the announcement over the PA.

It is illegal for an eligible receiver to line up in the middle of the line.  However, if they want to get super tricky, he can line up in the middle of the ineligible receivers, but just be back too far from the rest of the OL (would have to give the refs a heads' up on that) and it would be fine.  BUT... that would be one for the record books.

Exactly.

I’m hoping Slay travels with Lamb. If I’m Dallas I’m trying to get Lamb matched up with Maddox every chance I get.

They were in a 'regular' alignment.  The TE was Mailata at what we would normally term 'LT'.   There was an unbalanced line to the right.

This was the line.  Eligible in italics.  Ineligible in bold.
Mailata  Dickerson Kelce (C) Jurgens  Seumalo  Johnson  Stoll (TE).

Mailata reported as eligible, because of his number.

Was it the same when they jumped or was Jurgens lined up as a traditional TE?

I don't think Slay has traveled with anyone this season.  Bradberry also would be fine covering him.

CeeDee Lamb vs. Avonte Maddox

After years of being really deep at receiver, the Cowboys have a clear No. 1 this season in Lamb, who has 81 catches for 1,087 yards and 6 touchdowns. He’s been targeted 124 times this season, which ranks sixth among all players in the NFL behind Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs and Travis Kelce. Lamb is the real deal.

But the interesting thing about Lamb is how many snaps he gets out of the slot. On the year, according to ProFootballFocus, 49% of Lamb’s snaps have come from the slot and that’s been ramped up even more the last couple weeks. In the Cowboys’ last two games, Lamb has been inside on 82/138 snaps (59.4%).

With Darius Slay and James Bradberry both playing at a really high level outside, it would make a ton of sense for the Cowboys to opt for the obvious size matchup (6-foot-2 vs. 5-foot-9) against Maddox in the middle of the field.

"Definitely a challenge," Maddox said. "As you know, he's one of the better receivers in the league. It'll be fun lining up against him and competing."

When they jumped, Jurgens was lined up outside Mailata... then flexed out to the slot, but still on the LOS... as an eligible receiver.

If dallas is smart they will put Lamb at slot all day

I was about to say "hey, the Flyers are up on Toronto 1-0 halfway through".  Then I noticed the shots on goal are Leafs 20, Flyers 4.

I care. This board has been lacking in incredibly bad takes recently

If you had to pick Philly athlete of the year between Jalen Hurts, Bryce Harper, Joel Embiid, who would you pick. Pluses and minuses for each

Hurts has had an amazing regular season, but the playoffs will come in 2023, so we can't weigh that yet.

Harper was having a great regular season, but got hurt, came back and struggled, but then had an absolutely amazing postseason. Historically good. Been a while since we've seen a playoff postseason performance that dominant. But small sample of greatness because his regular season was short due to injury.

Embiid - largest sample size of dominance. Put up just insane numbers for a center. And he's doing it again this year. But again, the black cloud over him is coming up small in playoffs. Granted, he was hurt and I think that really is the main cause, but nonetheless.

I think I'm leaning Bryce Harper. Even though the sample size of greatness is the shortest of the 3, his postseason run was just so amazing that I think he gets the nod. But you can make the case for all three.
