The bigger hits by far were in the pocket. Stafford took a much worse beating. Seven sacks, fifteen QB hits. Brutal.

Not on Allen.  The bigger hits were him lowering his shoulder and taking on LBs... and getting hit by multiple players on the same play.  I'm not suggesting we want a guy who can't get out of the pocket when necessary... what I am saying is we shouldn't want a QB who is a part of the running game as a major contributor by design.   Scrambling out of the pocket and running is one thing.  The RO being a huge bread and butter part of your offense...  look for a new system.

It's absurd that Allen had 10 rushes while the leading backs had 8 and 6 respectively.  I get that the idea of a 'bell cow' RB has seen its day come and go.  But the idea that the 'bell cow' runner for the team is now at the QB position is absurd.   The QB should not be the leading rusher on your team, it shouldn't happen in yardage unless the QB somehow breaks off a really long scramble... and it should NEVER be in terms of carries.  That's not what you are paying them $40M+/year to do.  That's what you are paying a RB $2M-$16M/year to do.  And if your RB gets hurt and is lost for the year, you can steady the ship and still carry on forward without losing all hope (Derrick Henry excepted)... lose your QB, and yeah... hope may not be completely gone, but the odds just got seriously stacked against you, especially if its early in the season.

Allen had at least two runs for first downs on third-down plays to extend drives. Those were killers. He also had better protection. Not that it was great, but it was better than Stafford's. Allen did not limit himself to quick throws.

Heretical as it is to say, I believe the Bills won because their lines were better on both sides of the ball, especially the D line. The Rams D line is Donald and three JAGs.

Not to me.  That's still huge.  Is it the biggest reason?  If it's not, it's likely top 2.

Plus, a lot of hits in the pocket come from the blind side, where the QB isn't prepared to get hit, when you run, you can slide or get out of bounds.

Vick got hurt running, but I think McNabb's injuries came in the pocket, so did Wentz's injury.

Without doing a deep dive into it, it seemed like Buffalo, in the first half, mainly relied on short passes. The only deep throw i saw was the TD, which wasn't really a traditional deep shot.

In the second half, when Allen started running more, it seemed like the Rams had to bring more players into the box to stop the run, and it opened up the vertical passing game.

So while the Bills may not love Allen running, it may not be an option since their running game on its own may not be good enough to generate yards against good defenses playing a light box.

Marty Robbins B side track

El Paso isn't West Texas, it's Baja New Mexico.

Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, San Angelo, that's West Texas.

It's called a "Franchise Tag".

Thing is you can sign a player that another team has franchise tagged but you have to give up two first round picks.  Oh look at that, we own two first round picks next year.

Which? His knee was outside the pocket while running. The concussion was outside as well

Do you want Lamar or are you just trolling?

This is disingenuous. QBs who run a lot certainly take more hits than pocket QBs. It's just common sense. One bad game from Stafford's o-line doesn't change that narrative, nor does a fluky injury in the pocket. Wentz's injury was not in the pocket, he was running into the endzone and laid out. The Clowney concussion also occurred when Wentz was on the move.

Maybe Hurts will follow the path of Allen.

"It was a throw Allen likely sailed during his first two seasons. He left the pocket too early and didn’t set his feet. If he remains in the pocket, Allen hits Diggs in stride for a walk-in score. But Allen’s mechanics and accuracy have improved so much that he was able to get the ball where it had to be for the game-clinching score."

Trade for Lamar kthx

Thing is that's only if they give him a non-exclusive tag. If they give him the exclusive franchise tag he can only negotiate with the Ravens.

I want Jalen Hurts to be the QB and I believe he will establish himself as the QB.

But if he doesn't then the Eagles will try to get a top veteran QB and right now it looks like Lamar will be the best available and he fits the profile of the type of QB that Lurie has shown he prefers.

If you are for Hurts you must be against Lamar.  Sorry, it's the rulez.

In that case the Eagles would attempt to enter trade talks with the Ravens.

You're talking about a non-exclusive tag, which would be in the low 30's.

The exclusive tag, in the mid 40's, would prevent other teams from talking to him.

Oh look at that....you were mistaken.

Rewatched and I have to agree. Allen put himself in harm's way too many times. QB draws inside are just...not good.

P.S. Man oh man. If the Rams didn't have Cupp they'd be nothing. At least last night.
