  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

And Slay is getting older/more expensive, Bradberry will be a FA, a reckoning seems to be coming with Hargrave. Howie has a lot of work to do.

Getting on my bandaids for 2022 bandwagon.  He really didn’t fix the secondary, same dilemma as last year.  3/5ths on one year contracts and after 2023, only Maddox is signed. The starting WIL and MIKE only signed through this season too.

I know this was a joke but Strong should absolutely consider playing in the USFL or XFL next spring. NFL Europe (what the XFL will be) did wonders for Warner, Brad Johnson, Delhomme, Kitna and some guy named Pederson.  I almost hope that in their partnership with the XFL that the NFL can work a deal with the NFLPA like they did when NFL Europe was alive, to be able to allocate players to the XFL.

I agree that the NFL could benefit from some sort of farm club system. Players not from a big school program could use a transition.

I think I look at it a little differently. To me a bandaid is something intentionally short term to patch a gaping hole.

just because they aren’t signed longer term right now doesn’t mean that they are bandaids. I think they are potential long term fixes but the Eagles want to see more before making that commitment.

maybe they will end up being bandaids or maybe they will be li g term fixes, but I don’t think their lack of longer term contract is necessarily so telling.

Bryce Young has skills and looks good at times, not sure I project him as this big upside QB though. He may be a guy who has a high floor, but not the highest ceiling out of the QB class. I’d certainly take him over Hurts though.

A gaping hole you say...

Maybe we should call them 'flex tapes' rather than band-aids.

  • Teams can elevate a player three times in the regular season before signing them to the 53-man roster. Previously, a team could only elevate a player twice throughout the regular season or postseason.
  • Teams are allowed to protect four practice players per week from being signed by rival teams. There is no limit on how many times a player can be protected throughout the season. These protections can be made after 4 p.m. ET on Tuesdays.

Do we have any idea which four PS players were protected this week?

Haven’t seen any team report it this year. Might be a  behind closed door thing moving forward.

So that means the available roster for tomorrow is 54 players (52 plus Covey and Togiai.  The Active player number is almost 100% sure to be 48, with 8 O-Linemen active being required.  So that means 6 Inactives are needed from the following likely list of 10 players.  Who are your six?

QB Ian Book
RB Trey Sermon
TE Grant Calcaterra or Noah Togiai
OL Josh Sills
DT Marlon Tuipulotu
LB Kyron Johnson
CB Josh Jobe
CB/S Josiah Scott
S K'Von Wallace

Book and Sills are an obvious two of the six, leaving four more to decide on.

Calcaterra is pretty obvious to me. Same with Sermon. Last two would be Kyron Johnson and Scott would be my best guess if they don’t want him to push his hamstring.

Notre Dame got woke and went broke after they promoted a joke

Freeman is a much better recruiter than Kelly ever was, but he wasn't ready to be the HC. He will need time.

Classic ND... overrated again.

That's what happens when they hire inexperienced head coaches (Brennan, Faust, Davie, Weis) instead of when they go out and hire someone who's actually been successful elsewhere (Parseghian, Devine, Holtz, Kelly). It was laughable that their search for a head coach took all of about two days.

This kind of season was VERY predictable. Just as predictable as their being mediocre for about the next five to seven years. Until they actually hire someone with a proven track record.

Binged the newest season of Cobra Kai; what a fun show. Great season

Fatstreet Boys is pretty good

Doesn't explain why they'd be ranked so high if it was so predictable.   Why a top 10 ranking if it is predictable that they will be bad?  Because they are overrated.

It’s like Christmas Eve for me as it’s the night before football that actually matters.

I would think they wouldn't call up Togiai and not use him. My guess is that while Calcaterra has more long term promise, he's probably still a little behind after missing a few weeks in camp.

Texas A&M on upset watch.

Hell of a gameday so far.

I agree that they have been overrated. Their ranking was based on the faulty premise that the coaching change would be seamless. Apparently a lot of foolish people believed that.

I would have been all over Marshall today if I were a betting man.

Notre Dame 🤣🤣🤣

App state has a history of upsetting ranked teams

Down goes A&M

Richardson VS Levis.

LFG!

No nerves here, for the first time in a while. Cautiously optimistic about the team, with zero expectations of our QB. If he kicks ass and plays well, sweet! If he doesn’t, we won’t be stuck in QB purgatory for years. Basically, no matter what happens, I’m fine with. Unless we win two playoff games despite the QB play and the team uses the win to justify an extension. As long as he earns an extension and gets it, or doesn’t earn it and doesn’t get it, I’ll be fine. At least our defense has players to evaluate and watch develop. Last year was pretty brutal

Brenton Cox is a beast
