Zero chance I'd pay that for a guard. Brutal.

I agree. While Nelson is one of the best in the league, is the discrepancy between him and a 10-12m$ guard anywhere near as a large as between Rodgers and Cousins? Or between Deandre Hopkins and Amari Cooper? Travis Kelce and Dalton Schultz? It is a fortunate thing to draft a guard who’s only top 20 in the NFL.

Nelson is worth every penny. It also kills the next team who has to sign a top 10 guard who is nowhere near Nelson.

QB obviously is a completely different discussion all together, but looking at Spotrac, the 7th and 8th highest paid guards in average salary are Andrus Peat ($11.5M) and Graham Glasgow ($11M). There’s probably a pretty sizable difference in level of play between Nelson and them, as Nelson is on a HoF track at this rate.

The second highest paid guard now is Brandon Scherff at $16.5M, but he’s closing in on 31. Nelson blew up the market.

Scott frost is getting fired before his post game presser.

Should have been fired after last year. They wasted a year because they didn’t want to pay his buyout.

Definitely should’ve been fired after last year. I think another problem Nebraska has is that they are never going to be what they were during osborne era. but they believe they should and can

You’ll always have those pockets of fans, but I don’t think that’s true in a general sense. I grew up in Omaha and went to college at Nebraska. Covered the football team for several years in my former life. Most fans think they should be contending for division titles in a weak B1G West, not competing with Ohio State and for national titles. Certainly not anymore.

Holy cow. I know he’s probably the best right now but that seems crazy for a G

$20m per for a G is just dumb.  There's only so much money to go around.  I'd argue the 3 lowest paid positions should be

Guard

Punter

Long Snapper

Should have mentioned that Frost’s buyout is $7.5M less if fired after Oct. 1. So he has a couple of more losses to add to his resume.

They punt their QB after each season, so I guess they need somebody to pay

Le’veon Bell knocked out Adrian Peterson.

This is your daily reminder why you don’t pay RB’s.

Nelson is gonna take over for Matt Ryan next year. Problem solved as he’s one of the cheaper veteran QBs lol

This Hall kid from BYU, not bad.

I think the Colts are stuck with Ryan for two years, just to get off the QB treadmill, but I don’t think Ryan will give them any more than Rivers or Wentz did.  They might luck out if the Titans have a down year; otherwise I think they miss the playoffs again.

Also, when the hell did Darius Leonard become Shaquille??  All day on NFL Radio they were talking about Shaquille Leonard’s injury status and it took a bit of time for me to realize they were talking about Darius Leonard.

At least he’s staying a guy, right?  For now anyway?

Frankly i think Ryan is close to done. He didn’t look good last year. Granted the falcons oline stunk and they were down to basically Patterson, gage and pitts. I don’t think he’s gonna be better than rivers or wentz. Maybe the same as wentz. Only hope is that the Texans, jags stink. Titans likely take a step back. Although i think the jags are going to be much more competitive this year.

Lol. i think he changed it at the beginning of training camp or let it be known then.

Go Birds.

From Tommy Lawlor's article today

If you weren’t sure how good Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata are, check out that graphic. That’s a pair of shutdown tackles.

If the Lions play with a light box, the Eagles will run on them. It will be interesting to see if Detroit focuses on coverage or stopping the run. With all their weapons, the Eagles should have an answer either way.

Mailata really is a unicorn.

No thanks on Richardson

It wasn’t a great day for NFL QB prospects, Armstrong from Virginia, he throws like a left handed Philip Rivers and Jurkovec from BC also had tough days.
The Bailey Zappe of 2023, Will Rogers (same weak arm as Zappe) who has been breaking Dak’s records at Miss St, had another really good day.
