Still an extremely stupid decision, they let 15 seconds run off the clock. Take the timeout, spike in the red zone when you don't have to sprint 40 yards downfield.

that relies on a rookie taking big leaps fast in his development. The LBs are now designed to stop the pass. You need the DL to take care of the run. Jordan Davis is the key cog there. Run D will go as he goes.

They wasted a ton of time.  I get the spike versus a timeout with only one timeout left, especially with a QB that they can't trust to make good decisions regarding the clock and the situation.  BUT... that's where the QB being in the game in the preseason might help with more situational awareness.   Just pretend... ok, Jalen, we're in the RZ.  Let's pretend we only have 20 seconds left.  Throw the ball through the end zone or complete it.  Do not throw it short.

Clean up the run fits and tackling, things should be OK.

Well, when the QB has less than 50% completions and has nearly as many runs as completions... I think you know the answer to that.

Gainwell was the right read.  Just a crappy throw.  

If we run into a team that can take away AJ Brown we're gonna have problems

D will be fine. And DET is not going to come back. Hurts will run for enough 1st downs to put up a few more points, and our secondary isnt going to let them pass as successfully as they need to to play catch  up.

Situationally, Gainwell was the wrong read.   He gets tackled in bounds (likely) you are scrambling to even get a 3rd down play.

 

That ball needed to be thrown into the end zone or out the back of the end zone.  Throwing to Gainwell near the sideline (with his back to the sideline) at the 4 is the wrong throw with less than 14 seconds on the clock and 0 timeouts.

Im ready to get the 2nd half under way.

The bad throw landed at the four.  Use your imagination.  The better pass would be to Gainwell earlier and in stride, where he is facing the goal line.  He either goes in or out of bounds.
