That's fine, but people need to stop pretending he's going to have borderline MVP play and secure the one seed.

Only RTK thinks that.

I do find it interesting that the Lions blitzed that much. It's what the Bucs did. Teams will do it until we make them back off.

Man I wish we had Herbert

To what end? A worse draft pick?

That's why the Saints win today stings so much.   That's our hope for the future....

Who doesn't see the big picture though? It's not like the Eagles can get rid of Hurts tomorrow for Josh Allen. What's plan B? They're trying to maximize what they can with him.

I don’t understand that line of thinking, though. So, you know he can’t throw, so just try to run him around and win as many games as you can? Not try to turn him into an actual QB whose style can actually go somewhere? Isnt that doing him a huge disservice? That’s what Washington did with RG3. How’d that work out. Coddle a guy’s weaknesses and let him backyard it up.. It just isn’t a long term winning formula. Shouldn’t they be trying to teach him how to run an NFL offense, not handcuffing the offense to compensate for the weaknesses of the most important guy?

There are multiple 'pundits' who are putting forward this sort of thinking.   Nationally and locally.

Aaron Rodgers has 76 yards after the first half. Hurts had 189. Burrow turned the ball over 4 times. Hurts 0. AGENDA

I think you're missing the point

If Rodgers wants out after this season, wouldn't mind a redux of the Tampa Tom model.

Even if he is a bag of Ds as a person.

I would trade Hurts for Rodgers or Burrow in a heartbeat.

Burrow would fit better under the cap.

If they play like they did today... there's no way.

The Vikes aren't so erratic. They establish the run with their RB and pass with their QB. Defense is stout as well, doesn't get gashed the way Gannon's does. I just don't have any confidence in Gannon so I don't see that part changing.

I'm still miffed about it. They just gave it away.

Think you misunderstood what I was saying. Of course, they're trying to make him as good a player as he can be. But he's not going to improve dramatically as a thrower. It's a team sport. They'll do what they can with him as the QB. They'll move on when the opportunity presents itself.

I'm really just talking about the blog.

Felt the team came out flat in the 1st quarter, struggled with penalties and stupid mistakes. Finally came alive in the 2nd quarter, but didn't seem to be able to carry that into the 2nd half. Last year I never felt this team played a full 4 quarters, and this year it seems we are starting off the same way. It's clear to me that the coaching staff recognizes that Hurts is who he is at this point, and going run heavy in the RZ really shows how much they trust his arm. He made plays when he needed to, and had probably one of his best throws of his career to Brown for 54 yards. Brown dominated the middle and really the whole field. Really need to spread the ball around some more. Smith obviously needs targeted more, Quez and Pascal were MIA, and Goedert had a nice catch and run after the Hurts cheap shot but he needs more opportunities. Speaking of the cheap shot Hurts took, he really needs to make quicker decisions and get down faster. Hurts can't sustain that many hits as a runner on top of the ones he's taking in the pocket.

Defense just sucked. Couldn't stop the run, and seemed to give up a lot of big plays they didn't last year. Not sure if it's a communication issue, but there were a lot of players out of position. We will see next week against the Vikings if the defense can handle a competent passer.

It's not an exciting win, but a win is a win and the birds are 1-0. Lot's to work on and clean up those stupid penalties. Vikings offense is significantly better than the Lions they just faced. Defense will really need to step up and the passing game will need to get going early or it will get ugly.

If your only argument is to say nefarious motive then you do not belong in the discussion

Classic Falcons.   SB XLI... then opening day against Dallas last year, two years ago?   I dunno... but they have a way of dropping games they have all but won.

He's been in the league for 3 years. How long does he need to do basic things?

I don't think people in the blog would be so adamant that Hurts isn't the long term answer if there weren't the voices out there talking him up as the answer to the Eagles woes.  Maybe I'm reading the situation wrong.

The Eagles D gave up 35 points.

That’s horrible.

Fire Gannon!

He showed enough today to put aside anyone asking for Minshew, but not enough progress to want him at QB in 2023.

Understood. I am flabbergasted by some of it too.
